STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS
“The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children then heirs, heirs of God and joint
heirs with Christ.”
ROMANS 8:16-17
If we are heirs to the kingdom of God, shouldn’t we work to
build up His kingdom? Shouldn’t we be good stewards of our
inheritance, using our time, talent and treasure to care for the
Church that God has left to us? Our Church is a treasured
heirloom from God. Do we treat it that way?

FIRST READING: Exodus 24:3-8 (168B)
Moses offered young bulls as a holocaust to seal the covenant
between God and Israel, sprinkling the people and the altar with
the sacrificial blood.
RESPONSORIAL PSALM: 116:12-13,15-18
I will take the cup of salvation, and call on the name of the Lord.
SECOND READING: Hebrews 9:11-15

God to cleanse our consciences from dead works to worship
the living God.
GOSPEL: Mark 14:12-16,22-26
In a house in Jerusalem, Jesus and His disciples ate the Passover meal together. Jesus took bread and wine, gave it to
them, and said, “Take it; this is my body; this is my blood.”
PLEASE PRAY FOR THE SICK
Please remember Gage Mason Hoelscher, and the residents of
Laclede Groves and Mary, Queen & Mother.
GLENNON SUNDAY
SSM Cardinal Glennon Medical Center is the only free-standing
Catholic pediatric hospital in the country, serving over 200,000
sick and injured children each year. In the 1950’s, generous
Catholics in our community raised more than $6.2 million to
build Cardinal Glennon. It was on a Sunday in June that the
doors first opened to Cardinal Glennon, bringing the meaning of
Glennon to life. Next weekend please consider making a gift to
Glennon Children’s Medical Center, “Where Faith and Healing
Unite.”
SHOE DRIVE
During the month of June, we will once
again host a shoe drive to benefit Place of
Safety, a Shrewsbury-based organization
that benefits homeless and orphaned children in Jamaica. Bins will be placed in the
vestibule and church hall to collect shoes
in any condition. Wearable shoes will be
resold in developing countries while shoes beyond use will be
dismantled and recycled. Continue your spring cleaning and
benefit those in need! The shoe drive will run until June 28th.
MAY 31, 2015
FROM FR. BYRNES
I extend a heartfelt thanks to you all for making our parish Annual Catholic Appeal drive successful. Our published goal was
$25,224 and to date we have $39,280 in gifts and pledges. My
sincere thanks goes to Kevin Richard who chaired our effort
this year. I also include a thanks to his many helpers.
ADULT FAITH FORMATION
PARISH LIBRARY
There is now a Parish Library in the cry room. You may take
materials home to read and watch at your leisure. Please use
the sign-out sheets and when you return your materials, please
check your name off, so we will assume you have returned the
material for others to use.
To grow our parish library, we are looking for books, CD’s, or
DVD’s that have inspired you in your spiritual journey. Please
submit them to Fr. Byrnes or Tom Block for approval to be
placed in the library. Do not add any materials without first
getting permission from Fr. Byrnes or Tom Block. The library is
not a clearing house for books you wish to remove from your
own homes. Parents of small children: If your children have
taken material out of shelving, please return materials to
shelves before leaving cry room.
DYNAMIC CATHOLIC BULLETIN REFLECTIONS
Discipleship. Only 7% of Catholics are Dynamic Catholics.
Dynamic Catholics embrace the fullness of discipleship through
prayer, study, generosity, and evangelization. What if we doubled or tripled the number of Dynamic Catholics in the Archdiocese of St. Louis? Imagine if we were all pursuing discipleship
with intentionality: “By opening ourselves to the graces of the
Holy Spirit that make for deification—through deep and lasting
spiritual formation—I believe we could change the
world” (Archbishop Carlson). Archstl.org/dynamic

A REMINDER: SUMMER DRESS IN CHURCH
We want you to be comfortable, but that can be accomplished without sacrificing modesty in dress.
Low-cut
blouses, too-short shorts, shirts unbuttoned halfway to the
waist can draw people’s attention away from God and can be
occasions of sin for them. Modest dress reveals self-respect
and concern for God and others!
GUIDE BOOK & DIRECTORY IS HERE!
Look in your mailbox for our new parish Guide Book & Directory! The advertisers helped provide this service at no cost to
our congregation. We encourage you to think of them in the
future as your needs arise.
A new feature that our publisher is providing us is a PDF version of the complete printed book, which can be emailed to
you by the parish office and then downloaded to your smart
phone or tablet. This electronic version was designed to allow
contact information to be made available wherever church
members may be. The PDF is searchable, but cannot be copied or printed, to protect privacy. If you wish to download this
electronic version, you must be a registered parishioner and
then email the parish office ([email protected])
for permission. You will then be emailed the file.
