Provides the Board with the information and data necessary to make informed decisions. Ensures board policies and decisions are fairly and consistently implemented. »» Demonstrates experience with school budget and finance, operations, technology, and facilities management. »» Demonstrates knowledge of Washington school law, academic standards, professional development and evaluation systems. »» Actively participates in school and community events. The Superintendent/Principal performs all the duties of the superintendent and principal for the Wishram school district. Candidates must have at least three years teaching or administrative experience in K-12 education. Wishram offers a competitive compensation package including excellent benefits and membership in the Washington State Retirement System. Our School and Community Located in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge national scenic area, Wishram offers pre-K through 12 grade education to 93 students. Operating on a single campus and with an annual budget of $1.874 million, the district offers the many benefits of a small school district as well as outstanding supplemental programs that draw on the talents of our staff and the resources of surrounding communities. One such example is the partnership with the Lyle School District to offer combined athletics. The district also sponsors annual community activities such as a Cultural Exchange celebrating the area’s Native American history, book fairs, open houses, and a Halloween Carnival. Wishram is a district in demand with student numbers increasing. Currently 20% of the district’s students live outside Wishram’s boundaries and are enrolled by choice. Additional families inquiring about registering their children are on a waitlist for enrollment. Although a high poverty district, with over 90% of students eligible for free and reduced lunch, Wishram’s student academic growth rates rank third in the region. Wishram students benefit from a dedicated, highly qualified, and long-tenured staff. The district employs 9 teachers and 11 classified staff members in addition to the Superintendent/Principal. Wishram offers the quality of life of a small community and the beauty and recreation activities of the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and windsurfing just minutes from the district. An abundance of museums, vineyards, orchards, and cultural opportunities, restaurants, and shopping venues are all available within an hour of the district. The Portland/Vancouver metropolitan area is a picturesque 90 minute drive from Wishram.
