April Community Outreach
The Community Food Pantry will take place THIS Saturday, April 11 at First Presbyterian
Church. We’ll gather at 7:30 a.m. to unload and organize. The distribution of food begins
around 8:30-9 a.m. and will continue until all the food is shared. Come early. Come late.
Just come when you can. A sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board next to the church
office for volunteers, so we will know how many to expect on our team. Plan now to contribute
a bit of your time to help neighbors in need.
The Community Dinner will take place on Sunday, April 12. The menu is Chicken gumbo,
rice, cornbread, green salad, and fresh fruit. We need friendly faces, helping hands, and
caring hearts for this successful outreach mission. Monetary donations for food and supplies
are always appreciated. Please see the bulletin board or call the church office to see what
items are still needed and to sign up to help, 419-423-2112!
Book-dee-do-Review!

Deerhake will provide information about the author. Everyone is invited to join this fun and
educational group. Come and chat with us! May’s read is The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt.
Parenting Children, Not Labels
A.D.D.? L.D.? Autistic? Normal? There are many labels used to describe our children, but
what are the important strategies to know in order to nurture our kids to be the best they can
be? Next week begins a 5 week series on understanding the labels and incorporating best
learning practices following the KIC dinner half hour. Join us on April 15 beginning with dinner
at 5:30 p.m. Please RSVP for dinner & study. Watch the newsletter & the church website for
more details.
Congregational Meeting & Farewell Reception April 19
The session has called a Congregational Meeting for Sunday, April 19 following the 9:30 am
worship service. The purpose of the meeting is to dissolve the pastoral relationship of First
Presbyterian Church of Findlay with Rev. Patrick Cherry. Patrick has accepted a call to Christ the
Word Church in Wake Forest, North Carolina. His last day with us will be April 19. There will be a
farewell reception in Fellowship Hall for Patrick and his family following the meeting that day.
We are an active open community of Christians seeking to know and glorify God,
nurturing all people and sharing Christ’s love and teachings.
FOLLOWING WORSHIP…
Join us at 10:45 a.m. this Sunday!
Welcome & Fellowship ............................Front Entrance
Get a cup of coffee or tea & join us for fellowship. There
will be members on hand to greet visitors and guests
and provide information about our church.
Local Mental Health Programs .............. Fellowship Hall
Our church has a long history of helping to support mental
health programs for people in Findlay and Hancock
County. Michelle McGraw, Director of Orchard Hall
Services at Blanchard Valley Hospital and Michelle Huff,
Director of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) of
Hancock County, will bring us up-to-date about the mental
health challenges each of these two organizations
addresses each year. Matthew 25:35 helps us to
remember our responsibilities for serving the needy:
“…for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty
and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you
welcomed me…” Come and learn about just two of our
local services made available to those dealing with mental
illnesses. There will be time for Q & A at the end of the
presentation.
Character Builders .................................. Room 209-210
On Sunday, April 12, our lesson will be “Love One
Another,” taken from The Present Word quarterly. The
scripture reference is 1 John 3:11-24. Tom Bronder will
lead our discussion.
Blood Pressure Screening .............................. Room 214
Get your latest blood pressure reading from a medical
professional.
Dear Friends,
Thanks so much to all for the many acts of kindness you
have shown to me and my family as my mother died last
month. We have all been blessed by your many ways of
reaching out. Thanks so much for the cards, emails,
calls and flowers. We are grateful to be part of such a
caring church family.
In Christ - Cynthia Holder Rich
Thank you for the cards & prayers and all your kind
thoughts. – Herb Carr
To Betsey & the whole FPC team. We are beyond grateful
for your incredible graciousness and warmth in hosting
Glennon Doyle Melton. She LOVED being with you and
was so touched by how amazing you treated her family
who attended.
Thank you! – Amanda of momastery
MUSIC SUMMIT APRIL 26
What does excellence in music ministry look like? What
would you like to see, hear, and/or engage in ministries of
music at FPC? What ideas do you have for our
congregation's future music ministries? What do you like
about what is happening, and what suggestions do you
have for growth of this important part of our common
work? The Worship Committee invites you to a MUSIC
SUMMIT to address these questions and help them plan
for the future. Sunday, April 26, 11:30-2:30 pm in the
Great Room -- lunch will be provided. Anyone who loves
music, plays or sings music, or has an interest in our
music ministry to and with the congregation and the
community is very much encouraged to attend.
Questions? Be in touch with Elder Bob McEvoy, Worship
Committee co-chair, at [email protected].
PLEASE RSVP to the office to let us know you will be there!
