John A. Logan College Scholarships
The following is a listing of scholarships administered through the John A. Logan
College Foundation. Scholarships awarded through the eleven high schools in the JALC
District are noted in the criteria. Scholarship funds are to be used for tuition, fees, books
and/or other educationally related items. The awards are designated by action of the
JALC Scholarship Committee, unless otherwise noted. Scholarships noted with an asterisk
are funded fully or in part by a JALC Foundation endowment. All other scholarships may/may not
be funded every year by the donor.

Administrative Services Scholarship – Recommended by high school,
selected by scholarship committee based on letter of recommendation, grades,
extra-curricular activities.
Adult Secondary Education – Attended daytime ASE program through JALC:
earned at least six high school credits through ASE program; maintained 85% or
higher attendance rate while in the ASE program; working toward first certificate
or associated degree; and is in and remains in good academic standing.
Aisin Scholarship- Full-Time or Part-Time: Majoring in Electrical Engineering
tech, Electronics Tech, Industrial Maintenance, Industrial Maint. Engineering and
Manufacturing Tech: High Grad from JALC district.
*Albert and Margaret T. Bleyer Memorial Endowment – Must be a Full-time
academically talented student; financial need.
Allan & Wanda McCabe Education Scholarship – Graduate of a public high
school in Williamson County: enrolled full-time at JALC; majoring in Elementary
or Secondary Education; and demonstrated financial need.
Altekruse Endowment Scholarships – Recipients nominated by local high
schools, local private high schools and home school representatives in the John
A. Logan College district. Recipients must be majoring in a STEM Program,
enrolled as a full-time student and maintain a 3.200 cumulative grade-pointaverage.
American Association of Women in Community Colleges Scholarship –
Recipient must be a continuing John A. Logan College student with at least 12
semester hours completed; recipient must have a grade-point-average of 3.0 or
better; recipient must be a full-time student. Applicants must submit an essay
(500 to 750 words) focusing on the topic of how change has influenced their life
and decision to pursue higher education. The topic refers to the changes we
must make in our lives and how we deal with those changes. Each applicant
must have two written references from JALC faculty or staff.
American Magnetics Scholarship – Carterville resident; or a child of an
American Magnetics employee from any city.
Amy Young Memorial Scholarship – The program director will recommend
students for the scholarship. The students will complete a regular scholarship
application; obtain and submit two letters of recommendation; and submit a bio
that includes: 1) How I got to this point in my life, 2) Educational
accomplishments, and 3) What they are planning to do with this training. The
three recommended students will be interviewed by a sub-committee.

Angelo and Frances Sala Memorial Scholarship – Financial need; reasonable
academic ability.
Ann L. Knewitz Believe and Achieve Scholarship – Returning JALC female
student (25 years or older); must be resident of JALC district; major in education
or allied health.
Auffenberg Companies Scholarship- Employee or direct descendent of an
Auffenberg employee or high school graduate from a JALC District high school
enrolled at JALC. If no applicants meet this criteria, applicants from Carbondale
and Herrin will be considered.
*August L. & Thelma W. Fowler Scholarship – Graduate of Marion High
School; financial need, otherwise as deemed appropriate by the scholarship
committee.
Automotive Scholarship- Must be a full time student in the Automotive
Services/ Automotive Collision program; must have a 2.500 GPA on a 4.000
scale; the student must have also completed 12 hours in the fall semester; and
be a graduate from a high school in the JALC District.
Autry Memorial Endowment Scholarship – Student studying any field of life
science; has achieved high academic honors by being named to the President’s
Honor List or Vice-President’s Honor List; is recommended by life science faculty
based on demonstrated willingness to work hard to achieve goals; participates in
extra-curricular activities.
*Bank of Herrin Endowed Scholarship - Herrin High School graduate who will
attend John A. Logan College the academic year following graduation from
Herrin High School; must be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum of 12
semester hours); demonstrated academic achievements and has financial need.
Betty Frances Mattingly Memorial Nursing Scholarship – JALC student
entering the Practical Nursing Program with the intention of becoming a
registered nurse; demonstrated willingness to work hard with the physical and
mental abilities to perform as an outstanding registered nurse; plans on working
in the field of long-term nursing care; preference will be given to applicants who
have successfully worked as a certified nursing assistant or ward clerk.
*Billy and Corinne Brown Scholarship – Given from one school district on a
rotating basis in the following order: Dongola School Unit District #66; Cobden
Unit School District #17; Shawnee Community Unit School District #84; and Anna
Jonesboro Community High School District #81. Student with a 3.5 grade point
average based upon a 4.0 scale; also the student plans to study in any field
offered at JALC; and has participated in outside interests throughout their high
school career (e.g. work, clubs, community service).
Bonny Murphy Education Scholarship – Full-time student at John A. Logan
College; majoring in early childhood education; sophomore status; good
academic standing.
Buster Rogers Memorial Scholarship- JALC student that is Marine veteran
that has been honorably discharged: has or maintains a “C” average (2.000 GPA
on a 4.000 scale); and is enrolled full- time majoring in a program of study within
the computer Information Systems Program. Recipient can receive scholarship
for a second year if all information remains the same.

Carterville Banking Center, Bank of Herrin Scholarship – Recipient shall be
selected by the John A. Logan College Scholarship Committee. Non-traditional
student; single parent; good academic standing; financial need may be
considered but is not required.
Casey Saffelder Memorial Scholarship- Must be single mom; have attended
Marion alternative School or Marion High school; Average GPA; must have
financial need.
CNA-LPN Scholarship – Student must be enrolled in Certified Nursing Assistant
Program or Practical Nursing Program, recommended by Director of Nursing and
Nursing Faculty.
*Construction Management Technology Scholarship – Full-time student in
the Construction Management Technology Program at JALC; in good academic
standing from Carbondale, Cobden and/or Anna-Jonesboro High School.
Cosmetology Student Scholarship- Must be a Full-time student enrolled in the
Cosmetology program; student must have completed 590 hours in the program;
and have a 3.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale; the student must have graduated from a
high school in the JALC district or graduated from a GED program in the JALC
district.
*Dale L. Usher Scholarship – JALC student enrolled in the Construction
Management Technology Program; graduate of Carterville High School; in good
academic standing.
*David L. Sloan, M. D. Memorial Scholarship – Student must be nominated by
a member of the College faculty or staff. Eligibility requirements include financial
need, high grade-point-average, and a major in pre-medicine, health care, or
allied health. Dental Program students are not eligible.
Dental Hygiene Foundation Scholarship- Student must be a currently in the
Dental Hygiene program; must have a 2.50 GPA on a 4.0 scale; and have
financial need.
Dorothy Ivey Scholarship – Student enrolled full-time at John A. Logan
College; has financial need; if a continuing student, he/she must be in good
academic standing; graduate from a high school within the JALC district.
*Dr. Fred Nolen Memorial Scholarship –Must be a dental hygiene student.
Dr. Ron Browning Memorial Scholarship – Student must have completed at
least 12 semester hours at JALC; must have at least a cumulative JALC GPA of
3.0 on a 4.0 scale; must have completed at least one transfer math class; must
be majoring in mathematics, engineering, physics or a related area that employs
math with priority given to mathematics majors; recipient will be determined by
the math department.
Earl A. Pate Scholarship – Resident of Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson,
Williamson, or Perry Counties that has financial need and graduated in the upper
50% of his/her high school class. Priority given to high school graduates however
non-high school graduates can be considered and students cannot receive other
scholarships totaling more than $1,500.00.

Edith Bourne Memorial Scholarship – JALC student with financial need;
scholarship committee deems worthy and deserving; all other factors being
equal, preference should be given to a student studying social work,
construction, or education.
*Egyptian Contractors/O. M. Hudgens Scholarship – Enrolled in either preengineering or construction management technology. Applicants from
Carbondale, Crab Orchard, Du Quoin, Elverado, Herrin, Johnston City, Trico and
West Frankfort will be considered. Preference is to be given to Herrin High
School graduates in honor of Mr. Hudgens. If no applicants, JALC Scholarship
Committee will select the recipient recommended by the other high schools.
Elaine Mitchell Memorial Scholarship – Awarded after completion of first
semester; GPA of 3.0 or better; nominated by nursing faculty as having exhibited
discipline, dedication, a compassionate nature, and drive for excellence to
provide a high level of patient care.
*Elizabeth M. Dietz Memorial Scholarship – Must be a resident of DeSoto,
Jackson County, or Williamson County in that order of preference; minimum of
nine hours; financial need; student must maintain a “B” average.
Elk’s Ladies Association #800 (Marion) Scholarship – Re-entry female over
25 years of age, currently residing in Williamson County, and have demonstrated
financial need. Preference to a single mother (divorced, separated and/or single).
*Eugene Hudgens Memorial Scholarship– JALC student with financial need;
scholarship committee deems worthy and deserving; all other factors being
equal, preference should be given to a student studying social work,
construction, or education.
Eva Stover Scholarship –Must be a Re-entry female; financial need/family
responsibilities; scholarship ability; definite goals and commitments.
Extra Help, Inc. Scholarship – Graduate of Jackson or Williamson County ;
Enrolled Full-time in a Business Program; GPA of 2.500 or higher on a 4.000
scale
*First Southern Bank Scholarship – Herrin High School graduate who will
attend John A. Logan College the academic year following graduation from
Herrin High School; must be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum of 12
semester hours); demonstrated academic achievements and has financial need.
Foundation Art Scholarship – The art faculty of John A. Logan College
recommends recipients of this scholarship; selection is based on a portfolio of
work submitted by applicants to the college art faculty.
*Frank R. Samuel Memorial Scholarship – Graduate of Carterville High
School; deemed by the committee as deserving and worthy.
*Franklin County Medical Society Scholarship – Resident of Franklin County;
deemed deserving by scholarship committee.
*Fred F. Claxton Memorial Scholarship – Must be a Full-time student; good
academic standing to receive second semester award; preference to child or
grandchild of Crownline Boats employee.
GED Scholarship – Recipients of this scholarship are recommended to the
College Scholarship Committee by a GED committee that considers GED test
scores, written responses to application questions and a personal interview.

*Gene Farley Memorial Scholarship – A graduate of Herrin High School; major
in engineering or construction management technology.
General John A. Logan Chapter NSDU History Scholarship – John A. Logan
student majoring in History that demonstrates an outstanding ability in the History
program by grades, projects, or papers completed in the program; plans to
continue the study of history at a four year university following graduation from
John A. Logan College; and resides in southern Illinois – area south of Interstate
70 or from the region generally known as “southern Illinois”.
Gigi’s Scholarship – Graduate of Jackson or Williamson County; Single parent
enrolled full-time; GPA of 2.500 or higher on 4.000 scale.
*Gladys, Carolyn and Jake Rendleman Nursing Scholarship – Student must
be full-time, pursing a degree in the R.N. curriculum; preference given to resident
of Jackson or Williamson County; recommended by the Director of Nursing and
the R.N. staff.
H. Scott Hines Memorial Scholarship – Selected by the H. Scott Hines
Scholarship Committee.
Hancock Memorial Scholarship – Graduate of Marion High School that will be
attending JALC and who demonstrates a desire and competence to perform in a
college course of study and has financial need. Recipient will be selected by
Marion High School Scholarship Committee.
*Harold & Marolyn O’Neil Scholarship – Recipient must be a sophomore
student athlete with a minimum of 24 hours completed and cumulative GPA of
3.0 on 4.0 scale. The recipient is to be chosen by the coaching staff and athletic
director.
Harold & Mary Lou “Tommie” Perkins Scholarship – JALC student enrolled in
Associate Degree Nursing Program or has been accepted for that program.
Financial need is not a consideration in awarding this scholarship. Students
should submit two letters of recommendation from JALC nursing instructors or
other health care professionals.
*Heartland Regional Medical Center Scholarship – Enrolled in one of the
nursing programs at JALC and graduate of Marion High School.
Howard L. and Connie Dotson Memorial Scholarship – Awarded to a
graduate from Frankfort Community High School (if no qualified applicants
graduates from other Franklin County high schools can be considered), majoring
in Education; Healthcare; or Social Work with an interest in drug abuse
treatment, or Counseling working with troubled youth or special needs/disabled
children; has a 3.000 cumulative grade-point-average and financial need (may
not be eligible for federal/state grants however the scholarship should assist
individuals with educational expenses in order to reduce the need for a student
loan.
Massage Therapy Health CareersInstrumental Music ScholarshipInterpreter Preparation Scholarship – Second year student, major in
Interpreter Preparation CIP Code 161603C, cumulative GPA of 3.25, and active
member of the JALC ASL Club; recommended by the program faculty.

Jackson County Retired Teachers Association Scholarship – Sophomore
status; 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; major in education; resident of Jackson County
and a graduate of a Jackson County High School: Carbondale, Elverado,
Murphysboro, Trico, Mississippi Valley.
JALC Student Writing Contest – Applicants will submit sample writing pieces
for respective categories; panel of judges determine recipients.
*James B. & Rosemary Childress Scholarship – Deemed by the committee to
be deserving and worthy.
*James D. Holloway Legislative Scholarship – Must be a graduate of a high
school located in the JALC College District; full-time student.
*James Kuruc Memorial Scholarship –Must be a student that is of sophomore
status with “B” average; majoring in business or education.
Jerome “Mimi” Alongi Scholarship – Recipient must have a minimum “B”
average from high school; be enrolled full-time at JALC; and a member of JALC
baseball team. Preference will be given to a graduate from DuQuoin High
School. If no qualified applicants, applicants from other high schools in the JALC
District may be considered.
*Jim Deaton Memorial Scholarship – Marion High School graduate; financial
need; enrolled in the Construction Management Program; all else being equal,
preference to Pittsburg resident.
Jim Horn Memorial Scholarship- Received GED or High School Diploma
(prefer GED recipient); full-time student; enrolled in Auto Body Program; and
Financial need.
John H. & Judy Crawford/Raleigh Crawford Scholarship – Graduate of
Carterville High School, deemed worthy and deserving, in good academic
standing.
John J. Montacue III Scholarship – Non-Traditional student enrolled full-time at
JALC and has completed 12 hours of coursework at JALC with a 3.500 GPA on a
4.000 scale.
John L. & Agnes M. Kuruc, Sr. Memorial Scholarship – Must be a student
that is of sophomore status with “B” average; majoring in music education.
John L.R. Kaeser, DDS Dental Hygiene Scholarship – Dental Hygiene
student.
John M. Armstrong Carbondale Rotary Scholarship – Must be a full-time
student who is a graduate of Carbondale High School. The recipient may be
expected to be a guest of the club to speak.
Judith A. Richardson Memorial Scholarship – Awarded to a JALC student that
is a displaced worker over the age of 35.
Karen Lawler Memorial Scholarship – Resident of Illinois; committed to
practice in Illinois; enrolled in Dental Hygiene Program and in good academic
standing.
Katherine Derbak Scholarship – Major in elementary or secondary education;
non-traditional student over 25 returning to school after a 2 year break;
documented financial need, must have applied for federal financial assistance.

Ken Gray Scholarship – Scholarship to be awarded to a JALC student in good
academic standing from Franklin County that is in their second year and has
committed to attend Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
Krystal Maranda Pritchard Scholarship – Female JALC student enrolled in the
Criminal Justice Program; sophomore status; good academic standing;
recommended by a member of the JALC criminal justice faculty.
Leathernecks MC Veteran Scholarship – Veteran student attending JALC and
receiving benefits through the Veteran Services Office at JALC. Student may be
full or part-time in any program at JALC. Preference will be given to a United
States Marine – but not required.
*Lee Booth Memorial Scholarship – Graduate of Herrin High School; must
remain in good academic standing to receive second semester award.
Lelia Marvin AAUW Scholarship – Student must submit a letter which includes
information on their current and planned enrollment status, major, scholastic and
other achievements, financial status relating to attending school, three contact
references, and a statement of professional goals. Attach a current resume and
latest transcript.
*Leon Striegel, DVM, Scholarship – JALC student planning to study veterinary
medicine; graduate of JALC College District High School, or Anna Jonesboro
High School; “B” average; must have a completed FAFSA on file with the office
Student Financial Assistance.
Lilley Hudgens Memorial Scholarship- JALC returning female student with
financial need; scholarship committee deems worthy and deserving; all other
factors being equal, preference should be given to a student studying social
work, construction, or education.
Louis and Margaret Cerutti (Papa C) Scholarship – Deemed worthy by
scholarship committee; if a sophomore student, must have a high GPA.
* Louis Wides Memorial Scholarship – Must have financial need; resident of
Jackson County; business major.
Mama and Papa C Scholarships – Recipients are one male and one female
graduate of Carterville High School each year. Criteria includes grade-pointaverage, extra-curricular activities and letters of recommendation.
*Mary J. Barstis Memorial Scholarship – Must be a graduate of Frankfort
Community High School; in top 25% of graduating class.
*Mary Rendleman Johnson Nursing Scholarship – Financial need, posses a
true dedication to the profession of nursing with the potential of becoming a R.N.;
must be a citizen of U.S.
Massage Therapy Health Careers- Student must be enrolled in the first
semester of the Massage Therapy program either fall or spring.
Massage Therapy HOPE Scholarship- Awarded to 2nd semester massage
therapy student with minimum 2.25 GPA in 1st semester; two recommendations
from 1st semester MAS instructors and 1 from current or former employer;
preference will be given to student not receiving financial aid.
McDonald’s Scholarship – Full-time student must work for McDonalds; use
scholarship within 1 year of award/graduating; “C” average.

Michael David Arnold Scholarship – Full-time student with a 3.000 cumulative
GPA or higher on a 4.000 scale and is working as a life guard at the JALC
Community Health Complex Aquatic Center.
*Mikaya McKinney Memorial Scholarship- Completed JALC Foundation
Scholarship Application, has a 3.000 GPA on a 4.000 scale and financial need.
Mildred Rose Bailey Dyslexia Memorial Scholarship – Must be recommended
by the Coordinator of Disability Support Services. Student recommended should
be determined to have dyslexia. Student must have demonstrated financial need.
Noah Saffelder Memorial Scholarship- Enrolled full-time at JALC and is a
graduate of Marion High School; Preference given to student that participated in
the Alternative Education Program and in the Art Program at JALC.
Non-Traditional Student Scholarship – Student must be at least 25 years old
attending college for the first time; graduate of high school (or GED received) in
college district.
O. M. Hudgens Scholarship – Full-time JALC student majoring in a Business
Program that has financial need.
Orpha Striegel Memorial Scholarship- Full-time JALC student enrolled in the
Associate Degree Nursing Program that graduated from Carbondale and/or
Murphysboro High Schools and is recommended by the Nursing Faculty and
Director of Nursing.
Practical Nursing Club Scholarship- Awarded to a JALC student that is
enrolled full-time or part-time in the Practical Nursing Program that is maintaining
a “B” average (3.00 on 4.00). Practical Nursing Faculty will make
recommendations to the JALC Scholarship Committee.
Pyle Family Scholarship- Resident of southern Illinois enrolled in a Vocational
Program at JALC in a healthcare field or teaching; is a single parent or
unemployed; maintaining a 3.400 GPA on a 4.000 scale; and has financial need.
Preference given to single parent students.
Rannie and Floreid Odum Memorial Scholarship – Full-time student, resident
of JALC district.
*Richard A. and Evelyn L. Helms Memorial Scholarship – Two scholarships
shall be awarded each year - One to be a graduate from Frankfort Community
High School and the second one is to be a graduate of Carterville High School,
each recipient selected by the respective high school.
Rosemary Berkel Crisp Memorial Nursing Scholarship – Awarded to a
deserving student who is admitted into the Nursing Program, plans to work in a
hospital setting, and maintains a minimum “C” average (2.0). Financial need
may be considered. Student needs to be recommended by the Director of
Nursing.
Seth Merrett Memorial Scholarship – Second year medical lab technology
student; need of financial assistance, perhaps not eligible for financial aid, pays
for tuition themselves; director of program makes recommendation.
SIPMA Scholarship – Must be enrolled in an HR or Business Program at either
SIU or JALC (or non-transferable Business Program) or enrolled/enrolling in the
SHRM class; Must be a second year student if enrolled/enrolling in college (not
required for SHRM); Recommendations from professors or other professionals;

official transcripts reflecting grade point average (unless enrolling in SHRM class)
or 2.5 or above; and willingness to attend a SIPMA meeting to accept the award.
JALC applicants must complete the application located at www.sipma.org.
Silkworm Scholarship – A first generation college student enrolled full-time in a
Graphics Design or Marketing/Business Program that graduated from a high
school in the JALC District and has financial need.
Southeastern Illinois Electric Co-op, Inc. Scholarship- the student or (his or
her) parents must be a customer of Southeastern Illinois Electric Cooperative.
The student must be in good academic standing and one who documents
financial need. We will need to call and ask for Stephanie Tripp to verify is the
student or their parents are SIEC customers.
Southern Illinois Bank Scholarship – Graduate of Johnston City High School
or Frankfort Community High School that is enrolled full-time majoring in a
Business Program.
Southern Illinois Hospital Services/Marsha Lynn Cato Memorial
Scholarship – Good academic standing with minimum GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale,
enrolled in the ADN Program at JALC; graduate of JALC district high school and
has lived in college district for at least 5 years; will be expected to work in a
facility of SIHS; recommended by the Director of Nursing.
Southern Illinois Writers Guild Scholarship – JALC student enrolled full-time
in the English or Journalism Program that graduated from a high school in the
JALC District.
State Farm Insurance Teacher Education Scholarship – Applicant must be
enrolled full-time (12 hours minimum) each semester and maintain a 3.0 GPA in
college to be eligible for continuing awards in the second, third, and fourth
semesters; applicant must submit a letter stating their reason for requesting this
scholarship, their career plans after college graduation, and their philosophy of
education; applicants must submit the names, addresses, and telephone
numbers of two references who are thoroughly familiar with their life history and
performance in school, work, and community; one of these references must be
from the applicant’s high school or GED program and one must be from the
college where application is being made; successful applicants must be enrolled
in an approved course of study that leads to admission to a Teacher Education
Program or an Associate in Teacher Education Program at an Illinois Community
College, leading to transfer to an approved university offering a baccalaureate
degree in teacher education; provided they meet all of the requirements
contained herein and remain in good standing at the college where they are
enrolled, successful applicants will be awarded a check from the Illinois
Community College System Foundation for four consecutive semesters;
individuals selected for this scholarship will be recommended by the community
college where they are attending, and the college will recommend them to the
Illinois Community College System Foundation; students must be enrolled fulltime, and it is expected that the scholarship funds will be expended only for
education-related expenses, including tuition, books, fees, and other directly
related educational costs; all awardees of this scholarship must remain enrolled
in a Teacher Education Program leading to a teaching certificate in Illinois, and

of minority, low-income students.
Stephani Gorham Memorial Scholarship – Scholarship funds will be used to
help students in the biology international travel study courses.
*Steven A. Sala Memorial Scholarship – Recipient must be a graduate of
Herrin, Marion, or Carterville High School with a grade-point-average of “B” or
better; recipient must be in pursuit of an Associate in Arts degree with the intent
of receiving a Bachelor in Fine Arts (BFA) degree at a four-year institution;
recipient must have demonstrated a commitment toward his/her area of fine arts
study; recipient does not have to demonstrate financial need; the fine arts include
such areas as industrial design, music, art, or theatre; recipient must be a fulltime JALC student.
Streuter Family Scholarship – Graduate of Murphysboro High School, business
major.
Suzanne Teegarden Women’s Re-Entry Scholarship – Must be a re-entry
woman in need of financial assistance.
Ted Green Memorial Scholarship – Accounting major deemed worthy by the
scholarship committee.
*Tim Ahlm Memorial Scholarship – A graduate of Frankfort Community High
School that will attend JALC and is selected by Frankfort Community High
School.
Trent Bartolomucci Memorial Scholarship – Full-time student entering second
year after completing a minimum of 24 hours in first year; minimum GPA of
3.000; provide documentation of high school GPA (preference given to those
showing academic improvement from high school and through college); written

Tri-C Memorial Scholarship – Recipient of this scholarship shall be selected by
the Tri-C Scholarship Selection Committee. Preference will be given to a student
from Carterville High School and awarded based on GPA, financial need,
extracurricular activities, and community involvement.
Velma McKinnon Memorial Nursing Scholarship – JALC Associate Degree
Nursing student that has a “C” average (2.000 on a 4.000 scale) or above.
Nursing Department faculty should recommend a student to the JALC
Scholarship Committee.
Vernon and Irma Dotson Memorial Scholarship - Awarded to a graduate from
Frankfort Community High School (if no qualified applicants graduates from other
Franklin County high schools can be considered), majoring in Education;
Healthcare; or Social Work or Counseling working with troubled youth or special
needs/disabled children; has a 3.000 cumulative grade-point-average and
financial need (may not be eligible for federal/state grants however the
scholarship should assist individuals with educational expenses in order to
reduce the need for a student loan.

Vicky Green Memorial Scholarship – Awarded after completion of first
semester; GPA of 3.0 or better; nominated by nursing faculty as having exhibited
discipline, dedication, a compassionate nature, and drive for excellence to
provide a high level of patient care.
Voiture 1299 40 et 8/John Miller Memorial Scholarship – Nursing student;
resident of southern Illinois, i.e., graduate of a southern Illinois high school, or
completed GED in southern Illinois; preference will be given to a veteran or a
descendant of a veteran; Director of Nursing should recommend.
*William L. Bost Scholarship – JALC student enrolled in the Construction
Management Technology Program; graduate of Murphysboro High School; in
good academic standing.
