There is a Scholarship Interest form available on-line on the school website and in hard copy form in student services. ONLY complete scholarship interest forms when directed to do so. You do not need to prepare scholarship interest forms for scholarships that you may apply to directly. It is the student's responsibility to send in scholarships that are not school nominated. Please pay close attention to internal deadlines for school nominated scholarships. Interest forms received after the deadlines may not be processed. You may ask your assigned counselor for information regarding scholarships. Paper copies of some scholarship applications are available in the scholarship file cabinet in Student Services. This scholarship newsletter is not an all inclusive list of scholarship information. It only contains scholarships that we have actually received at the school. McInnes Extension and Community Educational Fund This organization is offering a $500 scholarship. Applicants should have a 2.5 GPA or higher, and the recipient must plan to attend a North Carolina college, university, community, or technical school. For the application and additional details, please come to Student Services. The completed application, transcript, letter of acceptance, and three letters of recommendation should be submitted to: Wake County Extension and Community Association Scholarship Committee Ms. Joan Quinn 809 Ellynn Drive Cary, NC 27511 Applications must be postmarked by April 6, 2015. UNC Chapel Hill – Light on the Hill (LOTH) Society Scholarship The LOTH selection committee will award the following scholarships to first-year African American students attending UNC this fall: Four onetime $2,500 LOTH scholarships and two $2,000 LOTH Julius Peppers scholarships (renewable up to three years) Please visit alumni.unc.edu/loth for the application and additional details. The deadline is April 15, 2015. State Employees Association of NC (SEANC) Scholarship Foundation Each year this foundation offers academic scholarships to the dependents of SEANC members. Thirty annual scholarships (15 meritbased, 15 financial-based) will be awarded to students planning to attend a four-year college or university. Eight annual scholarships (4 merit-based, 4 financial-based) will be awarded to students planning to attend a junior or community college or technical school. The scholarship application is available online at www.seanc.org/membership/scholarship/ and the completed application must be returned to the Scholarship Chairperson of the SEANC district of which the parent is a member. All applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2015. Judging will be conducted at the SEANC district level and the district winner in each category may be forwarded to the SEANC Central Office in Raleigh for the statewide competition. Please note that only SEANC members or their dependents are eligible to receive these scholarships. Information pertaining to SEANC membership requirements is available at www.seanc.org. The Gamma Lambda Chapter – Jane Smith/Brenda Marbell Scholarship The Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an international fraternal organization for teachers, is sponsoring a scholarship competition for seniors in the Wake County Public School system. The Jane Smith/Brenda Marbell Scholarship is a one-time award of $1,000. Applicant must be in the top 25 % of the senior class. The NC Society of Accountants Scholarship This non-profit organization is offering $600 scholarship(s) to students interested in entering the profession of Accounting. Interested students must plan to enroll in an accounting degree program with six or more credit hours per semester. Additional information and applications are available in Student Services. North Carolina Central University – Raleigh/Wake Chapter of the Alumni Association Scholarship To be considered for this scholarship, the candidate must be a graduating senior, Wake County resident, accepted to NCCU, and have at least a 2.5 GPA and a SAT or equivalent test score 900 or above. Financial need is not the primary criteria in determining recipients for the award. Green Hope High School PTSA Scholarship Attention Seniors! Apply now for a chance to win a $500 scholarship. The GHHS PTSA is sponsoring four $500 scholarships to be awarded to seniors who are admitted to a vocational school, community college or four-year college/university for the fall of 2015. Winners will exhibit character, determination, dedication to reaching their goals, involvement in community, helping others through service and strong commitment to secondary education. Scholarship applications are now available in Student Services or online at www.GHHSPTSA.org. New this year is the ability to complete the application electronically. Candidates are still required to print and sign the application and submit it to Student Services along with the other required materials as detailed in the instructions. In order to be eligible for the scholarship students must be a member of the PTSA and submit their completed application packets to Student Services by April 17, 2015. Phebe Harlan Emmons Grant-in-Aid The Phebe Harlan Emmons Grant-in-Aid of $1,000 is a gift from the Gamma Eta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. To be considered for this financial award, students must meet the following: Young woman who is graduating from an accredited Wake County High School; planning to attend a four-year college or university in North Carolina; seeking a degree in education. Other criteria that will be considered in the final selection: academic achievement, character, extracurricular activities, commitment to further education, and demonstrated commitment to the service of others. The Realtor Foundation of the Triangle Community Service Committee Scholarship This organization would like to recognize Wake County High School Seniors for outstanding achievement in the area of community service while maintaining academic excellence by awarding one-time scholarships with values from $500 up to $2,000 per scholarship. Triangle Italian-American Women’s Club (TRIAWC) This organization is offering a $500 scholarship to a female senior of Italian descent. The student must plan to pursue studies at a two or four year college or university. Other criteria include character and academic record. Green Hope High School Fine Arts Boosters (FAB) Scholarship The Fine Arts Boosters (FAB) organization is sponsoring three $1,000 scholarships to be awarded to seniors who have been active in the programs supported by FAB—Chorus, Dance, Drama & Technical Theatre, Guitar, Orchestra, and Visual Arts — while demonstrating good character, leadership qualities, and scholarship during their tenures at GHHS. Applicants will be evaluated by a committee comprised of three adults including FAB alumni parents and members of the local arts community. Criteria for candidacy include: (1) Have received a letter of acceptance from a vocational school, community college, or 4-year college or university; (2) Have maintained a “B” or 3.0 grade point average. The North Carolina American Indian Fund Scholarship The North Carolina American Indian Fund Scholarship assists American Indian students across the state in obtaining higher education by providing scholarships to pursue a 2- or 4-year undergraduate degree as a full-time student. Scholarships are valued at $1,000 per year, renewable for up to four years, for total awards up to $4,000. Additional information and the application are available at: www.trianglecf.org. Applications due May 1, 2015. The Sigma Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Scholarship Members of Sigma Tau Omega are pleased to announce the availability of five (5) $2,500 scholarships. The Tomorrow Fund For Hispanic Students The Tomorrow Fund for Hispanic Students provides college scholarships to immigrant Hispanic youth so they can become productive, well-educated members of our society. Students must be receiving institutional funding from his/her post-secondary institution in order to be eligible to apply. Triangle Sons of Italy (TSOI) Scholarship This lodge will provide a $750 scholarship to a student who satisfies the following criteria: An Italian American student (at least 1/8 Italian) residing in the immediate Triangle area. Candidate must also enroll in an accredited college or university in the fall. The application form can be found on the Lodge website at: https://www.trianglesonsofitaly.org/scholarships. The deadline is May 1, 2015. Better Business Bureau (BBB) Torch Scholarship This scholarship program recognizes students who personify high ethics as demonstrated through leadership, community service, overall personal integrity and academic excellence. A scholarship prize of $5,000 will be awarded. To be eligible, students must submit a 400-500 word essay, along with an application, transcript and a letter of recommendation from a BBB Accredited Business. Raleigh Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities Scholarship The Raleigh Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities will award two $1,000 scholarships to students with documented disabilities. Applicants must be residents of the City of Raleigh and must be enrolled in or have been accepted to an accredited undergraduate post secondary school, college, trade school or other institution of higher learning. Application materials must include official copies of all high school or (if applicable) undergraduate transcripts and a copy of your college acceptance letter. Applications and all supporting documents must be received by May 29, 2015 at 5:00pm. Box 590 Raleigh, NC 27602 Savvi Formalwear: Small Business Employee Scholarship Wake and Durham County High School Seniors who have worked during high school for a small business for at least one year may apply for this $500 scholarship. The individual must be pursuing technical or college courses in the Fall Semester of 2015. To apply for this scholarship, students must submit the following information (in two pages or less): (1) Your high school name and intended college or technical school name, (2) High school employment – including company’s name, dates of employment and supervisor’s name and contact information, (3) Your responsibilities, successes and challenges in your duties, and (4) The lessons your small business employer has taught you and your uses for those gifts. Submissions must be emailed to [email protected] by June 2, 2015. Scholarship recipients must agree to allow Savvi Formalwear to publish your name and photo through social media, Savvi Formalwear website and in-store visual displays. Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants will be awarding up to $1,000 to the winner(s) each year. Interested students will submit an essay on the topic that appears on the scholarship page. The scholarship deadline is June 15, 2015. Students may visit its website for full details and the essay topic: http://www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm AMDA Scholarships AMDA offers Bachelor of Fine Arts Degrees and Conservatory Programs in the Performing Arts. AMDA has two campuses – one on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and the other in the heart of Hollywood. AMDA offers over $10 million in scholarship awards each year. Individual annual awards range from $1,000 to $18,000. Scholarships are awarded based on talent, merit, academic excellence, and financial need. All accepted students are eligible to apply for AMDA scholarships.
