There is a Scholarship Interest form available on-line on the school website and in hard copy form in student services. ONLY complete scholarship interest forms when directed to do so. You do not need to prepare scholarship interest forms for scholarships that you may apply to directly. It is the student's responsibility to send in scholarships that are not school nominated. Please pay close attention to internal deadlines for school nominated scholarships. Interest forms received after the deadlines may not be processed. You may ask your assigned counselor for information regarding scholarships. Paper copies of some scholarship applications are available in the scholarship file cabinet in Student Services. SECU Foundation: People Helping People Scholarship One senior at Green Hope will receive this scholarship valued at $10,000 (payable at $1,250 per semester). To be considered for this scholarship interested students must attend the information session on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 2:30pm in room #2208. The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize leadership, integrity, and community involvement. Please note that students must plan to attend one of the 16 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina System. Cary Lodge No. 198 Scholarship The Cary Lodge 198 would like to offer scholarship opportunities to those students interested in continuing their education after graduating from high school. This opportunity is available to 20142015 graduating students who are in need of financial assistance in order to offset the cost of college expenses. Scholarships will only be given to candidates living in the Town of Cary. The tentative amounts of the scholarships will be two of $1,000 and two of $500. Youth Scholarship The North Carolina State United States Bowling Congress Association, Inc. (NCS USBCA) is awarding a $2,000 scholarship to a high school senior. Retail Consumer Alliance Foundation Scholarship Program North Carolina Retail Merchants Association (NCRMA) and its grocery division, the Carolinas Food Industry Council (CFIC), will give away $115,000 in scholarships through the Retail Consumer Alliance Foundation (RCA). From NCRMA, six students will each be awarded $2,500 towards the 2015-16 academic year. From CFIC, 40 students will each be awarded $2,500 for the academic year. Unlike traditional scholarship programs that only reward the highest level of academic achievement, NCRMA and CFIC will recognize students whose academic credentials fall within an average to above average range. State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship The State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship does not require a high GPA, but rather focuses on students who are leaders and volunteers in their communities and demonstrate financial need. Applicants must meet the following criteria: Be a 2015 graduating high school senior, have a cumulative GPA between a 2.5 and 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, plan to enroll full-time for the 2015-16 academic year at an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university or vocational-technical school, and be a U.S. citizen. Triangle Pest Control Scholarship Triangle Pest Control has established technology as one of its primary goals. In order to fuel this goal, Triangle Pest Control has created a merit-based scholarship fund for individuals seeking education in environmental studies. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to an individual who has displayed academic excellence, in addition to a passionate pursuit of furthered environmental education at an accredited college or university in North Carolina. Triangle Educational Advancement Foundation (TEAF) Scholarship The Triangle Educational Advancement Foundation, Inc. (“TEAF”), is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to promote high school athletics, academic performance and student character. This year TEAF will award up to ten (10) non-renewable scholarships of $5,000 each. Scholarships will be awarded based on the Scholarship Committee’s sole discretion, but will generally be awarded on the basis of financial need, community service, character/leadership and participation in high school athletics (whether as an athlete, trainer, manager, scorekeeper, etc.). To be considered for this scholarship, interested students must submit a completed scholarship interest form to Student Services by Thursday, March 12, 2015. Two (2) students from Green Hope will be selected to participate in this scholarship competition. The scholarship interest form is available on the Student Services homepage. Cary Central Rotary Club – Boyce Brown Scholarship This organization is offering a $1,000 per year scholarship for two consecutive years. Student must attend a two-year technical college during the duration of the scholarship. This award will be based on academic achievement, civic involvement, self initiative and financial need. Applications are available in Student Services. Students must return completed applications to Student Services by March 13, 2015. Cary Central Rotary Club – Harvey Duke Scholarship This organization is offering a $1,500 per year scholarship for four consecutive years. Student must attend a four-year college or university during the duration of the scholarship. This award will be based on academic achievement, civic involvement, self initiative and financial need. Applications are available in Student Services. Students must return completed applications to Student Services by March 13, 2015. Rotary Club of the Capital City – Robert N. Styres Scholarship The Capital Rotary Club will be awarding the Robert N. Styres Scholarship this year. The scholarship has increased this year and is now a $4000 award granted $2000 per semester. It is given to a Wake County traditional public high school graduate who has been accepted at a four-year college/university or a two-year community college. The scholarship is renewable. While academic achievement is important, the scholarship committee will try to select a person who is a hard worker and may have overcome some adversity along the way (not necessarily the student with the highest grade point average). Interested students must submit a scholarship interest form to Student Services by Friday, March 13, 2015. We will nominate one student from Green Hope to continue in this scholarship competition. The Cary Visual Art – Young Cary Artists Scholarship Program Cary Visual Art recently launched the Young Cary Artists Scholarship Program which is generously supported by Mercedes-Benz Cary. Eligible applicants are high school seniors who attend a Cary high school or have a Cary address and plan to study visual art or design at a college or university. The GSK Opportunity Scholarship The GSK Opportunity Scholarship is available to US citizens who have overcome significant adversity. Scholarships are valued at $5,000 per year, renewable for up to four years, for a total award up to $20,000. Recipients must attend a public state university or community college in North Carolina. North Carolina Central University – National Alumni Scholarship Program The purpose of this scholarship program is to assist North Carolina Central University in attracting to its campus outstanding students who exhibit high academic, citizenship and leadership characteristics, and desire to contribute positively to the quality of study and life at the university. Only those who have at least 3.0 “B” weighted grade point average and a SAT/ACT (Math/Reading/Writing) score of 1210/17 or above will be considered for alumni scholarships. Alpha Delta Kappa – Hammond Hill Scholarship The local Beta Omicron Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a Wake County High School senior who plans to enter the field of education. The presentation of the scholarship award will be held on April 21, 2015. The recipient and/or a family member will need to be present to accept the award. The Cary Rotary Club Scholarship The Cary Rotary Club is committed to improving literacy and leadership among young people in our community. The Cary Rotary College Scholarship Award recognizes one local high school senior with $1,000 per year for a full-time student. The Scholarship is renewable for a maximum of three additional years, depending upon satisfactory progress, for a total scholarship award of $4,000. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement, leadership, service in the community, and financial need. Ellen Simmons Howes Prospective Educator Scholarship The NC Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa is pleased to announce the Ellen Simmons Howes Prospective Educator Scholarship. The Ellen Simmons Howes Prospective Educator Scholarship will be used to aid college students with financial needs as they pursue a degree in the field of education. Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded to four students, one from each of the four geographic areas [north, south, east and west] in North Carolina. Bennett College Scholarship A Wake County female high school senior with good scholastic and leadership records is eligible for the $2,000 scholarship. The student selected to receive the scholarship must be accepted to Bennett College for Women before the scholarship is actually awarded. Achievement Scholarship for Refugees and Immigrants of Wake County The Triangle Community Foundation is accepting applications for the Achievement Scholarship for Refugees and Immigrants of Wake County for the 2015-2016 academic year. The Achievement Scholarship will provide financial awards for refugee and immigrant high school seniors who reside in Wake County to continue their education in a post-secondary setting. The goal is to support these students on a pathway to finding meaningful employment and becoming contributory members of their communities and adopted country. Scholarships will range from $1,000 to $4,000 per year, for up to four years, and can be used at any accredited public, private, or technical college or university in the state of North Carolina. A minimum of four awards will be made each year. The Achievement Scholarship is available for first-generation U.S. citizens, refugees, or immigrants (legal documentation not required) who are graduating seniors at a high school in Wake County. Community Peace Scholarship Award One eligible senior graduating in 2015 will receive a $1,000 scholarship. The purpose of this award is to promote an awareness of and actions leading to peace in the student’s own life, family, school, and community. Interested students must complete and submit the Community Peacemaker Scholarship application by April 1, 2015. The application is available in Student Services; however, students are responsible for submitting their applications and references to: Betty Cowick Community of Christ PO Box 3100, Cary, NC 27519-3100 Winston-Salem State University – Luther Johnson Jr. Memorial Scholarship Candidate must be an entering freshman at Winston-Salem State University with at least a 2.7 or equivalent grade point average (GPA) and at least 850 composite score on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or 18 on the American College Test (ACT) to qualify for the Alumni Scholarship. Awards are made on a competitive basis. Students must maintain at least a 2.7 GPA throughout the freshman year and must attend a high school in Wake County. The student must reside on campus during the freshman year. Applicants should have a 2.5 GPA or higher, and the recipient must plan to attend a North Carolina college, university, community, or technical school. UNC Chapel Hill – Light on the Hill (LOTH) Society Scholarship The LOTH selection committee will award the following scholarships to first-year African American students attending UNC this fall: Four onetime $2,500 LOTH scholarships and two $2,000 LOTH Julius Peppers scholarships (renewable up to three years) Please visit alumni.unc.edu/loth for the application and additional details. The deadline is April 15, 2015. State Employees Association of NC (SEANC) Scholarship Foundation Each year this foundation offers academic scholarships to the dependents of SEANC members. Thirty annual scholarships (15 meritbased, 15 financial-based) will be awarded to students planning to attend a four-year college or university. Eight annual scholarships (4 merit-based, 4 financial-based) will be awarded to students planning to attend a junior or community college or technical school. The scholarship application is available online at www.seanc.org/membership/scholarship/ and the completed application must be returned to the Scholarship Chairperson of the SEANC district of which the parent is a member. All applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2015. Judging will be conducted at the SEANC district level and the district winner in each category may be forwarded to the SEANC Central Office in Raleigh for the statewide competition. The Gamma Lambda Chapter – Jane Smith/Brenda Marbell Scholarship The Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an international fraternal organization for teachers, is sponsoring a scholarship competition for seniors in the Wake County Public School system. The Jane Smith/Brenda Marbell Scholarship is a one-time award of $1,000. Applicant must be in the top 25 % of the senior class. The NC Society of Accountants Scholarship This non-profit organization is offering $600 scholarship(s) to students interested in entering the profession of Accounting. North Carolina Central University – Raleigh/Wake Chapter of the Alumni Association Scholarship To be considered for this scholarship, the candidate must be a graduating senior, Wake County resident, accepted to NCCU, and have at least a 2.5 GPA and a SAT or equivalent test score 900 or above. Financial need is not the primary criteria in determining recipients for the award. Green Hope High School PTSA Scholarship Attention Seniors! Apply now for a chance to win a $500 scholarship. The GHHS PTSA is sponsoring four $500 scholarships to be awarded to seniors who are admitted to a vocational school, community college or four-year college/university for the fall of 2015. Winners will exhibit character, determination, dedication to reaching their goals, involvement in community, helping others through service and strong commitment to secondary education. Scholarship applications are now available in Student Services or online at www.GHHSPTSA.org. New this year is the ability to complete the application electronically. Candidates are still required to print and sign the application and submit it to Student Services along with the other required materials as detailed in the instructions. Phebe Harlan Emmons Grant-in-Aid The Phebe Harlan Emmons Grant-in-Aid of $1,000 is a gift from the Gamma Eta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. To be considered for this financial award, students must meet the following: Young woman who is graduating from an accredited Wake County High School; planning to attend a four-year college or university in North Carolina; seeking a degree in education. Other criteria that will be considered in the final selection: academic achievement, character, extracurricular activities, commitment to further education, and demonstrated commitment to the service of others. The North Carolina American Indian Fund Scholarship The North Carolina American Indian Fund Scholarship assists American Indian students across the state in obtaining higher education by providing scholarships to pursue a 2- or 4-year undergraduate degree as a full-time student. Scholarships are valued at $1,000 per year, renewable for up to four years, for total awards up to $4,000. Additional information and the application are available at: www.trianglecf.org. The Tomorrow Fund For Hispanic Students The Tomorrow Fund for Hispanic Students provides college scholarships to immigrant Hispanic youth so they can become productive, well-educated members of our society. Students must be receiving institutional funding from his/her post-secondary institution in order to be eligible to apply. Triangle Sons of Italy (TSOI) Scholarship This lodge will provide a $750 scholarship to a student who satisfies the following criteria: An Italian American student (at least 1/8 Italian) residing in the immediate Triangle area. Candidate must also enroll in an accredited college or university in the fall. The application form can be found on the Lodge website at: https://www.trianglesonsofitaly.org/scholarships. Raleigh Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities Scholarship The Raleigh Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities will award two $1000 scholarships to students with documented disabilities. Applicants must be residents of the City of Raleigh and must be enrolled in or have been accepted to an accredited undergraduate post secondary school, college, trade school or other institution of higher learning. Application materials must include official copies of all high school or (if applicable) undergraduate transcripts and a copy of your college acceptance letter. AMDA has two campuses – one on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and the other in the heart of Hollywood. AMDA offers over $10 million in scholarship awards each year. Individual annual awards range from $1,000 to $18,000. Scholarships are awarded based on talent, merit, academic excellence, and financial need. All accepted students are eligible to apply for AMDA scholarships.
