LOGO CONFIGURATION There are two versions of the Her Campus logotype - the horizontal and the vertical logo. Choose the lock-up that best fits the layout in which it will be used. It is important to always display the Her Campus logo as directed in this guide, without modification. The horizontal logo is used primarily for headers and headlining features, whereas the vertical logos is used for avatars, on apparel and when accompanying other logos. LOGO CONFIGURATION The use of the cap, crown and heart elements in relation to the Her Campus logotype is refererred to as the brand lock-up. The lock-up is a fixed relationship and, as such, the elements must remain together and unchanged in their proportions, placements and angles. It is important to always display the logos as directed in this guide, without modification. Tagline Ribbon: The HerCampus.com horizontal signature featuring the use of the ribbon element is the preferred logo format. Please omit the ribbon element (as seen above) when the logo width is below 500px for web and 4” for print. 6 h h h h CLEAR SPACE In order to preserve the integrity of the Her Campus logotype, the logotype must be reproduced with a clear space around it that is free from photographs, typography or other graphic elements. The clear space should be equal to the width of the “H” in Her Campus and must be maintained around the entirety of the logo. MINIMUM SIZE A minimum reproducible size has been established for all versions of the Her Campus logo. The minimum size should be used only when available space is extremely limited. The logo should always be clearly legible. h h h h The minimum size when using the horizontal lock-up is 150px wide for web and 1.5” wide for print. The ribbon element should be omitted when the width is equal to or less than 400px wide for web and 2” for print. The minimum size when using the vertical lockup is 100px wide for web and 0.75” for print. The vertical lock-up should be used only when horizontal space is limited. 7 COLOR VARIATIONS The varying color uses of the Her Campus logo depend primarily on the background on which it will be featured. The correct application of the logo is essential for maximum legibility in order to accurately communicate the Her Campus brand’s personality. POSITIVE/LIGHT BACKGROUND The Her Campus logo, in its positive version, should always be placed on backgrounds that are light in value. The only two colors in this lock-up are black and the Her Campus pink. This two-tone positive lock-up should be utilized when possible. However, the full-black positive version can be used as an alternative if necessary when color imprint availability is limited. NEGATIVE/DARK BACKGROUND When appearing on a dark background, the Her Campus logo should appear in its reversed, negative format. The negative lockup should feature pure white and Her Campus pink. The two-tone negative version is the preferred logo when appearing on a dark background but, if necessary, the logo can be featured in a full white, negative version. 8 COLOR PALETTE The Her Campus signature pink is a defining characteristic of who we are as a brand. Instead of a light, airy pink, we chose a shade that borders on red. The result is a hot pink that is feminine, strong, bold and youthful – just like our readers. A silhouette is a way to visually convey a very specific shape clearly, but because silhouettes are one color, they are also universal enough to relate to many different individuals at once. 12 DESIGN ELEMENTS Cap, Crown and Heart The cap, crown and heart are symbols that represent the multifaceted lives of our girls, who aspire to be both stylish and savvy, well-educated and well-spoken. 13 APPROVED IMAGERY All photography featured in this style guide is available for use and can be accessed and downloaded from the Her Campus Media Press Kit at HerCampusMedia.com.
