Q2 SKILL BASED
Mind mapping skill is a way of linking key concepts using images, lines and links. A central concept is linked via lines to other
concepts which in turn are linked with other associated ideas. Here is an e.g:
Make a mind map on the following on an A3 sheet having atleast 15 connections according to your roll no-:
Roll No 1-15 River system of India
Roll No 16-30 Physical features of Indiaof India
Roll No 30 onwards Natural vegetation of India
Q3. New political parties are emerging on the democratic set up of India.Form your own political party with its symbol,Agenda &
its menifesto. How will you register your party in election commission & classify your party as National or regional party(both)
giving reasons and specify steps to register it with the election commission.Work on A4 size sheet using the given format:

GENERAL SCIENCE
Q-1) Open the given linkwww.youtube.com/watch?v=NkyEOrQiGMQ( 10 amazing science stunts by quirkology)
Now perform any three activities from video
On the basis of your experimentation record the following in Science Notebook:
i)
Write aim and objective of each experiment you are performing.
ii)
Enlist the material required for your experiments and Record your observations.
iii)
Write down the Scientific Principle involved behind each activity in video.
iv)
Draw a nice diagram related to your experiment and label it properly.
v)
Correlate the principle involved in your experiments with real life and write its application.( at least two)
Q-2) Play the online game. Click the link below www.sheppardsoftware.com/health/anatomy/cell/index.htm
Paste the printouts of the screen shots of the animal cell, plant cell and bacterial cell separately in fair notebook .Now, you can
become a cell creator. Create an organism made up of cell organelles of your choice (atleast 8). Give it a name, write its structure
and abilities. Remember you can only mix and match but the basic function of the organelles remain the same. Do it on A4 size
sheet and paste in register with the scorecard.
Q-3) To calculate the electricity bill.
Take the reading of the electricity meter installed in your home for 10 consecutive days (take reading twice daily, once in the
morning and once at night), note the number of electrical appliances used during this time period in your home for each day
separately in tabular form
ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES USED
DURATION OF TIME
and plot the data on graph and relate it to energy consumption of various electrical appliances and prepare a report about our
electrical consumptions and how to reduce them in your class work notebook. Add following points to your report:statement of
problem
 Procedure
 Data collected
 Data analysis
 Results (conclude at the end and suggest methods to save electricity at home and in the school)
Q-4) Read the passage below, which explains the chemistry of how certain foods rise during cooking and answer the questions
that follow.
This is not an experiment—because you can eat the results. This is a cooking project that uses scientific principles to explain why
things taste good.
If you look at recipes for cookies, cakes or other baked goods, you will notice that they contain many similar ingredients. Flour,
and sugar are found in almost all the recipes and it‗s easy to understand the part they play in the cookies or cake. Flour makes up
the majority of the cookie and sugar makes it sweet! You may also notice other common ingredients. Things like salt or vanilla
provide the flavoring. Most recipes also contain baking powder or baking soda and sometimes they even have some of each. Have
you ever wondered what baking soda or baking powder do for cookies and cakes? Baking powder and baking soda both help
make cookies and cakes taste good.
Ingredients
 2 cups sugar
 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
 2-1/4 teaspoons baking powder
 1-1/4 cups 2% milk
 10 tablespoons butter, cubed Procedure
1.
In a large bowl, add sugar, vanilla , flour and baking powder; gradually add to batter; beat at low speed until smooth.
2.
In a small saucepan, heat milk and butter just until butter is melted. Gradually add to batter; beat just until combined.
3.
Pour into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center
comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Yield: 12-16 servings. Now prepare three cakes one with baking soda, one with baking
powder and one without baking soda and baking powder and answer the following questions in science notebook.
Questions
Q1) Differentiate the three cakes on the basis of
 flavour
 fragrance
 softness
 appearance
 cooking time
Click the photographs as an evidence of your preparation.
Q2) Whichare the leavening agents used in the process?
Q3) Why the cake with only baking soda ,baking powder and with both was different. What happened /did not happened if both
were not added.
Q4) Write the necessary chemical equation involved when baking powder is heated?
Q5)Check the cartoon of baking soda and baking powder. Is their any expiry date, why? How can you store it.
Q-5) Burning issue – SCIENCE HIGHLIGHTS
Read the newspaper and collect at least five newspaper articles with date mentioned related to ―health and disease‖ (specially
summer diseases) and make a flow chart in science fair notebook covering the following parameters.


Causes of the disease.
Prevention of diseases.
