NUECES COUNTY 4-H
Applications for the Misty Wimberly Memorial Scholarship are available online http://nueces.agrlife.org/publications/4-h-youth-development. This
scholarship was established from funds provided by family and friends to honor
Misty Wimberly, daughter of Ronnie and Kathy Wimberly. Misty died in a tragic
automobile accident on June 17, 1989. At the time of her death, Misty was actively involved in the 4-H and FFA programs and constantly encouraged other
youth through her leadership and active support of these programs. This is a
$500.00 one-year scholarship, with one-half (1/2) being paid each semester to
recipient’s college or university. Completed applications are due in the Nueces
County Junior Livestock Show Office by April 1.
Nueces County 4-H Council
Officer elections for the new upcoming 2015-2016 4-H service year (September
1, 2015 through August 31, 2016) will be held during the 4-H Council meeting
beginning at 6:00 p.m., Monday, April 27, 2015. Applications, as well as the
Council Standing Rules and eligibility requirements, are available online http://
nueces.agrilife.org/publications/4-h-youth-development/. Completed applications
are due in the NC4H Office by 5:00 p.m., Monday, April 20.
2015 Horse Validation
This year’s horse validation will open on 4-H CONNECT on March 1 through
May 1. Costs:
March 1 – April 15 - $10 per horse
April 16 – May 1 - $20 per horse
All horses must be validated or re-validated with payment each year to be eligible to show at District and State 4-H Horse Shows.
Two sets of instructions were provided via email to all Nueces County 4-H members with a “Horse” project:
Instructions for Families – how to validate a new horse or revalidate a horse
already in the system
Instructions for County Offices – how to approve validations and prepare a
transfer for payment with club/county check
County offices must approve validations by May 6 and all payments must be in
the 4-H Foundation by May 31.
