Students are required to dress out for P.E. in a P.E. uniform which consists of a Renner Logo’d grey t-‐shirt and black shorts (purchase these online with your school supply order), socks, and tennis shoes. A locker is provided for each student for P.E. clothes. School Supplies Reminder that you can order school supplies online from July 13th – August 7th at the Renner PTA website www.rennerpta.org. Visit PTA website www.rennerpta.org to join the email list. These contain important information about school supplies, socials, parent coffees, speakers and other important school announcements. NOTE: This is a separate database from the school email list. How do I check my child out during the day for an appointment? If your child has to leave school during the day for an appointment, please have your child bring a note to the front office before school. We will sign the note so he/she can be released from class and report to the office at the appropriate time. Your child will need to bring a doctor’s note to the front office upon returning to school. The state requires us to have a doctor’s note on file when a student is gone for part of the day for a doctor’s appointment. Your child has three days to turn in a note. Failure to do so will result in an unexcused absence. Where is the cafeteria menu? The menu is posted on the PISD website and in the cafeteria. It is strongly suggested to bring a sack lunch the first week until lunch routines get established. How do I bring lunch to my child? Lunches may be delivered to the front office. Please come to the front office when you enter the building. If your child knows you are bringing them lunch, please have them pick it up in the front office on their way to lunch. If they forgot their lunch and don’t know that you are bringing it up, an office aide can deliver it. Lunch Guidelines: According to federal guidelines (FMNV), parents may only bring food for their child during lunch. Food may not be shared with other students. This includes pizza, all fast foods, cookies, birthday cakes, etc. Please do not deliver food for your child to share with others at lunch. We appreciate your cooperation in following these guidelines. What if my child left something at school? What is the policy? Lost and Found? Is your child missing a lunch bag, gym clothing, or a jacket? Check the lost and found table located in the cafeteria or with the front office staff. Parents are welcome to sign in at the front office and check for their child’s lost belongings before or after school. Can I bring in a treat for my child and their friends on their birthday? No, please see Lunch Guidelines. Does Middle School have early release? Other than the last day of each semester, Renner does not have any other early release days this year. How do I get on to Parent Viewer? Parent Viewer allows you immediate access to your child’s grades, and can send you an email alert if the grade drops below your expectations. Go to the PISD website – click on parents tab. You will need to know your student’s ID#. Please do not call the front office for this information. We cannot release this information. You will have to get the ID# from your student. If you have a copy of their schedule, it is on the top. Revised 5/18/15 What do I do if my child is sick? If your child is sick or will not be at school for any reason, please call the Child-‐Safe line at 469-‐752-‐5800, and choose option #3. Please leave your child’s name (with spelling of their last name), their grade, and the reason for their absence. When your child returns to school, please have them bring a note to the front office specifying the date and reason for absence. Your child has three days to turn in a note. Failure to do so will result in an unexcused absence. A parent call does not excuse the absence. We must have a parent signed note. Student Absence Request If you know your child will be absent from school, please download and turn in a Student Absence Request Form from the Renner Middle School Website and turn it in. Homework Requests: Homework may be requested through the front on the 3rd day of absence. This request may be made by calling the front office at 469-‐752-‐5802 by 9:00am. When is the school store open? The school store is open every day during all lunches the First Semester. How can my child attend tutorials? Tutorials are a great resource for all students regardless of the grade they are making in class. You can receive a little more help, ask questions, prepare for tests, etc. To attend tutorials, either obtain a pass (note) in your agenda from your teacher the day before you plan to attend, or students will be allowed to attend scheduled tutorials with a note from parents. Please follow teacher’s tutorial schedules as they may have other duties or meetings on other days of the week. You may also attend another teacher’s tutorials if needed. Talk with the teachers about this possibility. It is always a good idea to come with a question to ask. What to bring the first day of school? Bring a pencil bag and spiral notebook to school on the first day. Beat the traffic and leave home early. First Day Pick Up from School: Pre-‐arrange with your child where you will pick them up after school. Sometimes there is confusion on the first day as parents look for their child. Pick a spot and let them know where you will meet them. Medication: If your child needs medication at school, contact the nurse prior to school starting. Revised 5/18/15
