PRAYER LINE
203-746-2200, ext. 17
is symbolic of
The death and resurrection of Jesus
Christ is an event that draws all of
creation toward God. When we take
part in the devotion of the Stations of
the Cross, traditionally we say,
"Because by your holy cross you have
redeemed the world." That means more
than just the people of this
world; it means all of creation.
As good stewards, we are called to
attest to the glory of God in all he has
created. Everywhere we look we can
see evidence of his handiwork and have
the opportunity to reflect on how he has
created the world for our benefit.
Seeing all of creation as redeemed
because of the dying and rising of
Christ helps us with this reflection.
Truly, all things are made new.
With only two weeks left in Lent, we
still have a chance to echo the words of
this Sunday's psalm, "Create a clean
heart in me, O God." Perhaps we are
unable to see the glory of God in
creation because of our own sin. We
need to repent and return to God, and
then we can see with new eyes. Make
this Easter a time for real, meaningful
celebration as all of creation sings to
the Lord.
In the event you use a

Solemnity of the
Annunciation of the Lord
Wednesday, March 25, 2015.
The feast of the Annunciation
of the Lord celebrates the
angel Gabriel's appearance to
the Virgin Mary, his
announcement that the Blessed
Virgin had been chosen to be
the Mother of God, and Mary's
willing acceptance of God's
holy plan.
The Annunciation holds great
significance for Christians.
Exactly nine months before
Christmas, it signals the start
of God's plan of salvation.
Annunciation, however, is not
a Holy Day of Obligation.
Offertory Blessings
For the weekend of March 15th we
received a total of $19,653.82 for an
average of $17,507.20. Thank you for
your generous support of St. Edward’s!

Liturgical Year B
"He took a towel and tied it around
his waist. Then he poured water
into a basin and began to wash the
disciples’ feet and dry them with
the towel around his waist".
This overwhelming gesture made a lasting impression on the disciples, not only because it expressed pure love, but by washing their feet, Jesus
laid the foundation for true servant leadership;
one that has become the model for Christians today.
On Holy Thursday, April 2nd we will re-create
this beautiful ritual when the celebrant of the
mass washes the feet of twelve members of our
community during the Mass of the Lord's Supper.
The St. Edward’s youth
group is again planning to
attend the Steubenville East
youth conference this year
in July. Whenever a teen
wishes to attend the
conference and struggles with a financial burden, we
do whatever we can to help bridge the gap. The cost of
attending is $285 per person for the weekend. In the
past, parishioners have supported teens with either
partial or full assistance for this retreat program. If you
would like to help with this program, please contact
Fr. Karol at the parish office. We are hoping to bring a
group of about forty this year; with God’s help! Thank
you for your support of our teens!
Periodically we need to clear out our prayer
list so if you, or are a loved one is sick and
would like to be on our prayer list please
contact the parish office at 203-746-2200.
Thank you!
The next bottle and can truck will be
here the weekend of April 11th & 12th

separate glass from plastic. Thank you!

On Wednesday April 1 at 7:30 pm the Mystery Players High School Students of Immaculate Heart Central High School in Watertown, NY will return
to St. Rose of Lima, Newtown, CT to present the Stations of the Cross. Last
year they moved all of us in a very special way. We are so excited that they
have offered to once again perform their spiritual presentation of The Way of
the Cross. This Holy Week, make it a "Must See" event. The experience will
be memorable.
The Mystery Players perform, in a very creative and dramatic way, the Stations of
the Cross. The sanctuary is the stage for a powerful presentation with special lighting, music, pantomime, and para-liturgical readings.

Parish Announcements………...from Fr. Nick
After 33 years of service, Deacon David Vaughn will be
retiring from active ministry. We would like to show
him our appreciation for his service to our parish as he
moves into this new stage in his life. On Sunday,
April 12th we will say goodbye to Deacon Vaughn at the
11:00 Mass and have a reception afterwards to thank
him for his years of service.
Also, after years of service as our parish trustee,
Mr. Louis Roller has stepped down. I thank Lou for all
he has done for the parish and his dedication
throughout these years. After consultation with the
parish council for nominees and with the advice of our
trustees Lou and Peter Greco, I have asked Arlene
Callahan to accept the position of trustee for the
parish. Arlene has a profound dedication to the parish
and has served us so well for so many years. She is a
fine addition to our parish lay leadership. Many thanks
for your service.
As you can see by the weekly
calendar, there are so many
ministries and groups that utilize the
church kitchen and hall on a daily
basis and we ask that you take the time to clean up
after your functions so that the kitchen remains clean
for the next group. However, we are looking for two
volunteers to come and tidy up the kitchen such as
cleaning the countertops etc. twice a week. If you
are interested please call the parish office. Thank
you!!!

“The pro-life position is often
misunderstood as neither showing compassion to mothers nor
caring about the children after
they are born. This is unfortunate. ... Those who see a lack of compassion from prolifers may not be aware of the many resources and compassionate care available to women facing unplanned
pregnancies.... [Crisis pregnancy] centers exist to provide
warm and caring environments for mothers and families
who find themselves with an unexpected pregnancy.” —
