Jesus speaks about himself as the vine and we, the followers, are the branches that grow from the vine. Vine branches must be carefully pruned in order for the vine to bear good fruit. We are the fruitful branches that are "trimmed by" God the Father to produce good works in the world. When we are examples of God’s love and act as Jesus did, we provide much fruit. When we fail to do this, we create a lot of dead wood and produce no fruit. Without the vine, the branches dry up and die. However, it is only through Jesus when we live by His words that we can become grafted into the true "vineyard of the Lord" and produce abundantly all that is good. Prayer Moment: Lord Jesus, may we be one with you, draw us close so that we glorify you and bear fruit for your kingdom. Vocation View Jesus, the true vine, promised that if we live in Him we will produce abundantly. Look for the signs of new life in you. Find ways to nourish your relationship with Jesus. Many thanks to all of our catechists and teachers, as well as parents and sponsors who have such an important role in the faith formation of our Confirmandi. May our newly confirmed be blessed with an outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit throughout their lives. “One Faith, One Hope, One Love”: We are moving closer to reaching our goal for the “One Faith, One Hope One Love” Capital Campaign. A special word of thanks to all of our parishioners who responded so cordially to the phone-a-thon last Monday evening and made a pledge. We will continue this outreach this Monday evening, May 4th and I ask your prayerful discernment and generosity when you are contacted. The Fund Drive will conclude on Dedication Weekend, May 16th and 17th when a final opportunity will be offered to make a pledge/gift so we can make our goal.
