Examples of our services: testing mechanical properties, crack detection and ultrasonic testing. Examples of our refinement processes: precision cutting, end machining and marking. Technical service Testing of mechanical properties Thanks to our broad range of skills in the field of steel manufacturing and heat treatment, we can always provide materials with the appropriate mechanical properties, good machinability and properties to match the requirements of the application in question. We can supply bars whose mechanical properties have been subjected to a variety of tests to check the yield strength and tensile strength, impact toughness, hardness and elongation, for example. Quality certificate: Analysis certificate: Distribution On account of our needs-controlled stock of standard products, we operate with top-class delivery times. We can even provide short delivery times for non-standard products thanks to our forecast-controlled stock of raw materials. Ultrasonic testing We supply ultrasonic tested bars. The testing is made manually at Boxholm Stål. Heat treatment We can supply heat-treated bars. The methods we use include stress-relief annealing and normalising. End machining We perform various types of end machining: end-chamfering of one or two ends – with or without facing – drilling centre holes, and turning of, what is known as “handles”. (See the picture below.) Special/double straightening We can supply special/double-straightened round bars. 17 Test certificate: SS-EN 10204-2.2 SS-EN 10204-3.1 SS-EN 10204-3.1 Precision cutting Precision cutting can be performed using circular saws or band saws. Crack detection We can supply bars that have been checked for cracks. The tests are performed using the eddy-current method, and the equipment used is a Circograph Ro65. For round bars, four test probes rotate at a speed of 3,000 rpm around the material. A Defectomat M170 with surrounding spools is used for testing hexagonal bars. After testing, the material is demagnetised. The dimension range for round steel is dia. 6–65 mm, and for hexagonal bars it is 6–55 mm. The results of each test are documented in a test report. Marking We can supply bars that are marked to facilitate identification and tracking during the manufacturing process. Material properties There is much to be gained by choosing the correct production method and material specification as early as possible in the design phase. Our ambition is to use our experience and familiarity with the material to add knowledge that increases the value of the steel. If we enter the production process at an early stage, we can suggest materials that improve the complete finance package of the end product – that is how we work! The following table presents a rough overview of the types of material you should choose in order to achieve certain properties. For additional information, contact our technical sales support staff!
