Caps of Love
PASTOR’
PASTOR’S CORNER
Dear Parishioners, Very soon the 26 acres that will bring us to a 40
acre campus will be purchased for $800,000.00. We are putting
$400,000.00 down and financing the rest with the diocese. Our current
finances can cover the monthly payment.
Hopefully, you will have time to view the master plans on the
bulletin board in the church entrance. Phase one is on the left and
consists of necessary infrastructure along with improved parking and a
200 seat expansion of our sanctuary. We will try to keep this phase
close to 2 million dollars. Phase two which most notably features a
new sanctuary, is scheduled for whenever feasible and needed.
So why start now, can't we add another mass instead? We will add
another mass eventually. As parishes grow and have more families
with high schoolers, usually a 5 pm Sunday mass is added as the 'youth'
mass. However, for our community the 'seat to registered family ratio'
is small. Much of phase one of the master plan, is for necessary
infrastructure that would be needed to protect existing structures and
improve parking. The smaller portion, to expand our sanctuary, will
provide for more adequate seating in the near future, at mass times
that people already attend.
In the coming months, our Finance and Pastoral councils will
develop a plan, with input from the diocese, on how to proceed. Many
thanks for your continued generosity that is noted in the first fiscal
quarter's financial report also in this bulletin.
In Christ, Fr. Larry

In today’s Gospel Jesus challenges us to “stay awake” by taking time to
seriously look at ourselves, the priorities of our lives, and how we are growing
spiritually. Ask yourself “What would Jesus do?” The generosity of our
parishioners allows us to assist many people in the Florence-Andice area. Our
priority is to help those less fortunate than ourselves with food and utility
assistance.
The society is beginning to plan for our Thanksgiving and Christmas special
projects. The Angel Tree will be set up 21 November and tags will be available
for those who would like to buy gifts for children in our community. If you are
interested in volunteering to deliver food, wrap gifts, or any of the other tasks
that are involved in this holiday season please call the St. Vincent phone
number.
Our next conference meeting is Thursday, November 20 at 6:30 in Carr Hall.
Volunteer opportunities are coming up on November 18 packing food for FISD,
November 19 food pantry and December 16 packing food for FISD.
If you know of someone in need of assistance with food or utilities please ask
them to call us at 254-317-2891.

Interested in volunteering during the holiday season?
The Caring Place is preparing for our annual Coats for Kids and Holiday Meal
Assistance. We are looking for volunteers who would like to donate their time
from November 3rd to November 26th and help us spread the holiday spirit.
Volunteer shifts will be from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Instead of letting a child go
through the winter without a coat, Coats for Kids allows for children to choose
a new coat that matches their own personal style. Along with Walmart gift
cards for a coat, families receive a gift card to HEB to help them with holiday
meal costs. Please contact Nella Buffmire at 512-943-0726, or by email at,
[email protected] for further information.
Want to help keep a child warm this winter?
Last year The Caring Place gave new coats to 1416 children in need.
We are expecting our numbers to be higher this year. We need your help. A
donation of $20 will purchase a new coat for a child.
You can make a donation online at www.caringplacetx.org or send checks to:
The Caring Place, PO Box 1215, Georgetown, Texas 78626.
Respect Life
Veterans Day is largely intended to thank LIVING veterans for dedicated and
loyal service to their country. November 11th of each year is the day that we
ensure veterans know that we deeply appreciate the sacrifices they have made
in the lives to keep our country free. Let us remember and pray for those that
have served in the U. S. Military.
You gave for peace with courage, that families may be free. So
children could grow strong and safe they'd ever be. You may have
suffered loss, your body may still show its wounds, from taking up the
cause. May remembrance of your time away, your sacrifice for peace,
spur us on to strive more strongly for freedom, that there'll be release.
From causes that sent some away to fight that we may freely live, with
gratefulness we thank you, Veterans...for all you gave and give!

Gospel Meditation
In today’s Gospel, Jesus fashioned a whip and “cleaned
house.” He drove out the animals, the sellers and the money
changers from the Temple. What do you need to clean out from
your heart? Pray for the strength to do it.
Catholic Social Teaching Corner
This Sunday we celebrate the Dedication of the Basilica of St.
John Lateran in Rome. In celebrating this feast we are not
honoring a building, but ourselves as “living stones” that make
the Church; the Body of Christ; the temple of God laid on the
foundation of Jesus Christ. Our call is to reflect the holiness of
God to the world, not the worldliness that invaded the Temple
in Jerusalem at the time of Jesus – which he drove out. Are we
living like Jesus, reaching out to the forgotten and unloved? Are
we loving like Jesus showing compassion, forgiveness and
mercy? What can we do to reflect the holiness of God more fully
this week?

UN hosting exhibition of St. Francis of Assisi manuscripts
The United Nations Headquarters in New York City will host an
exhibition on St. Francis of Assisi later this month. The Holy See is
among those promoting the exhibition, which will be the first one of
its kind at the UN. Entitled “Francis, icons, words, images,” the
exhibition will showcase key manuscripts dating from the 13th and
14th century lent by the library at the Sacred Convent in Assisi. All of
them have been recently restored as their condition had deteriorated
badly over the past decades.
The highlight of the exhibition is the 13th century Codex 338
containing the writings of Francis, including his famous Canticle of the
Creatures that is widely viewed as a poetic and spiritual masterpiece.
Other highly-prized exhibits include the papal Bulls of Honorius III and
Gregory IX. The U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See, Kenneth Hackett
was among the speakers at a press conference in Rome that was held
to provide more details about the forthcoming exhibition.
Ambassador Hackett said the exhibition will help bring to a wider
audience more information about the spirituality and legacy of Saint
Francis of Assisi, a saint who is much loved by the American people.
“I think the U.S. public will resonate very well and has always
resonated very well with the ideas of St Francis and what he
represents, in terms of peace, ecology, saving the environment, his
simplicity and his humility and particularly now with Pope Francis.”
As the first ever pope to take the name of the founder of the
Franciscans, Ambassador Hackett predicted the figure of Pope Francis
will also increase interest in this exhibition as “he amplifies the virtues
and the whole character of St. Francis in so many ways” through his
reaching out to the poor and marginalized, his emphasis on peace and
non-violence and care for the earth.
