I'm going to suggest some hopefully interesting and diverse films along with dates, so if you are keen to come along it would be a great help to email me ([email protected]) or text (07870 631 493) so I have an idea on numbers and can confirm whether it's a starter. Similarly there are some good 'mainstream' films coming up which could require living dangerously and going as far afield as Leamington/ Coventry. Remember this is a very 'low key' way to bring friends along and let them realise that we haven't got two heads! Equally, do come up with suggestions if there is something you particularly want to see, we can also look at purchasing DVDs and having the odd 'at home' film evening with lashings of ginger beer. Please send me your email address for circulation if you're interested even if you were on Graham's previous list. Thanks Tim Brewer Coventry Cathedral seeks Chaplains for our visitors Are you secure in your faith and ready to be an ambassador? Are you a good listener, comfortable with sharing faith or keeping silence? Do you enjoy meeting people from all round the world and hearing something of their stories? Are you discrete, able to respect boundaries and to work in a team? Are you committed to the core values of peace and reconciliation and interested in playing a part in living this ministry at our Cathedral Church? If this sounds like you and you have some spare time on your hands, why not become part of Coventry Cathedral’s volunteer Chaplaincy team? We’re a group of Christians from different churches and from well beyond the city boundaries, who give a few hours each month to provide a ministry of welcome, prayer and listening to visitors. Training and support is available. To learn more contact John Radford, Chaplaincy team co-ordinator 854475/ 07849872996 [email protected] or Revd Kathryn Fleming, Canon Pastor at the Cathedral 02476521230/07985 234901 Flyers with more detail about this event are at the back of the Church. It’s well worth a visit (Denise) Can you help to tackle Ebola in Sierra Leone? Dear Friends Today I received a call for help on behalf of SLWAAC (Sierra Leone West Africa Association of Coventry). They are mobilising their contacts to start a relief effort in Sierra Leone, sending out donated household cleaning products of all kinds. Apparently such goods have disappeared from the shops and are desperately needed. The immediate need is for a space where they can receive and store donated items, and box them up prior to despatching them. If you have a space that could be made available to this group, and for more information, please contact [email protected] Once a space is available the next request is for all kinds of cleaning products. What a privilege to be invited to be actively involved in tackling such an important issue. The First ‘meeting’ will be on Monday 3rd November at 6pm in the Cavern Stuart Heaton would like to make a request for some support from the Communities of St John's. The Scouts need an Executive Committee and representation on this from St John's and a Group Scout Leader, basically a "manager" for the Group. This does not need to be anyone with scouting experience and is a relatively simple role that does not necessarily involve working with the young people, but can!
