'Tis the season for blustery weather, but our doors are open with our Preschool Open Houses on Sat., Feb. 21 from 9am-12pm at the following locations: Central Square, Meader House, Richland Center, High Point Friendship Center and Volz Fieldhouse. So come-in and visit our rooms, meet the teachers and inquire about this creative program that will encourage your "little one" to excel in everyday activities. See more preschool information on the inside cover of this brochure. Another "indoor" activity that will challenge you during the season is fitness. The cold weather makes it difficult sometimes to get motivated. But at Challenge Fitness, we have programs and personal trainers that will "kick-start" you mentally and physically. New this year is GRIT that combines strength, plyometrics and cardio. Find out more about this program on page 31 and other fitness programs in the center of this book. Jeff Rigoni James Louch, Jr. President President James Louch, Jr. Vice-President Moreover, our special events run the gamut from Christmas to Easter. Go from inside to outside with holiday brunches, shows, parties, races and egg hunts with almost all of these events hosted at Prairie Bluff Public Golf Club. Visit our special events pages in the back of this book to find some holiday cheer. And if you have an event or banquet of your own why not have Prairie Bluff host it? Afterall, our facility makes a perfect venue for any occasion. Now let's fast forward to spring with the buds sprouting on the trees in Dellwood Park. New to the park is The Canyons, an "18-basket" disc golf course. It has been said that every “hole” is a signature basket with breathtaking natural backdrops from flowing water, rock formations, bridges to throwing from steep terrain and so much more. It is truly one of the most beautiful disc courses in the area with challenges that even the most experienced disc golfer will find exhilarating. My mom had recently lost 100+ pounds with the help of a trainer at LTPD. I saw the change in her and I realized I wasn't the smallest in my immediate family any longer; it motivated me to start my journey. I had lost weight before, but never kept it off. When I started Largest Loser, I couldn't run a mile without stopping, I had trouble jumping on a stepper with one riser, and I could barely hold a plank. Throughout the first Largest Loser, I lost 10 pounds and 8 inches, I was starting to feel better about myself. Over the next year, I completed two more Largest Losers during which I lost very little weight, sometimes even gaining weight, but still losing inches. It wasn't until my fourth Largest Loser that things really changed... In the summer of 2014, is when everything changed. I realized that I just didn't care what the number on the scale was anymore. Before I began Largest Loser for the fourth time, I decided I didn't want to know my weight or any measurements until the end. The number on the scale didn't define me anymore. I started loving working out. I loved the feeling I got after I finished a really tough workout and the gym started to be my stress reliever instead of eating. But then I had a conversation with my awesome trainer. This conversation is what made everything "click." From then on, the weight started falling off. I have a completely different outlook on myself and the world. The number on the scale is nothing, I honestly don't even know what I weigh at this moment, but I do know this... * I can run a mile in 9:49 minutes. * I completed my first half marathon in June 2014. * My PR for a 5K is 33:28 minutes. * I can do a wall up. * I can do a good burpee. * I can jump 8 risers. * I can hold a plank for 2:05 minutes. * I completed a 10 mile run in 2:14:43 hours. The scale now tells me my relationship with gravity. I now know that I am so much more than the number on the scale. I am starting to like me more and more each day. I am not perfect. I still don't make the best choice all the time but 9.5 times out of 10, I do make the right choice. I still struggle but I know I'm on the right path and I'll never go back where I once was. Largest Loser helped me, change me. I did the work, but my trainer and my workout group gave me the support. Thanks for taking the time to read my story.
