“We Care”
“WE CARE” needs the colony’s help again for the food
drive. We will be collecting non perishable items from
Nov 10th, 2014 to Jan 10th, 2015.

house will be decorated by the 3rd week of November.
Last year we collected 500 non perishable items for
“We Care” food pantry.
We will have a bin out for you to drop any non perishable items off. Please make sure the dates are dated
for the year 2015.
We are in high demand for paper goods, laundry
soap, dish soap, hand soap, cleaning supplies and as
always non perishable can goods.

Colony Cove has been again selected to host a talent
showcase on Thursday November 6, 2014. A showcase allows communities throughout central Florida the opportunity to
view acts for their individual entertainment venues. The promoter will have
between twenty and twenty-five performers who will have fifteen minutes
to show their best to the approximately one hundred and sixty community
representatives.
This showcase is being sponsored by your Home
Owners Association. Seating will be available to
non-community representatives who want to enjoy
a day of entertainment at a cost of $5.00 per ticket.
The doors will open at 9:00 with the show beginning
at 9:45, and coffee and rolls will be available for purchase along with a variety of items on a lunch menu. The entertainment will
continue throughout the afternoon until about 5:00 PM.

Colony Cove Medical Loan Closet
The Colony Cove Medical Loan Closet is open on an “on call” basis. If you are a resident
of Colony Cove and have need of a medical device (walker, knee walker, crutches, etc)
Contact one of the volunteers listed below.
There is no charge for the use of equipment, however a deposit is required. The deposit
will be returned when the article is returned. And cash donations are always welcome.
These donations help us to replace worn items.
We ask that you return the item clean and if possible it should be returned within 60
days. If you need the item for a longer period of time please contact one of the volunteers.
We also ask that if you know you will be needing something from the CCMLC that you
call before you need it. Our volunteers are not always available at the last minute. We are
available on Sunday, strictly on an emergency basis.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Time to give thanks for all the blessings in our lives
and share our blessings with family and friends. Remember and respect our Veterans
on Tuesday, November 11th who have fought and continue to fight for our freedom and
the freedom of all Americans.
It’s also time to consider running for the Homeowner’s Association Board of Directors.
There are five seats open this year and if you wish to run for office, call our Nominating
Chair, Bill Dow, 281-8028 (sorry for the wrong number in last month’s Breeze). Elections
will take place in December (date and time will be announced and posted) and the victors
will assume their seats in January of 2015. Good luck candidates !
The first show of the Parade of Stars will be the Christmas show in December. Come
on out and join your friends and neighbors for some great entertainment. If you have
not yet purchased your tickets, call Johanna DiNatale at 722-6106, or see her at coffee
on Saturday morning.
Now that the winter residents have and will continue to come back to their homes
in Colony Cove it is extremely important to obey the speed limit and stop signs for the
safety of those residents walking in the streets. We do not have sidewalks, and many
walkers, joggers, guests, dog walkers, etc. are using the same streets as vehicles. Also
please remember that anyone driving your golf cart must be at least 16 years old and
also obey all traffic laws. Safety is of the utmost importance.
Have you visited the new exercise room at Ellenton Hall yet? If you are ready for a work
out, get your key at the office, grab a towel, and head on over.
The Loan Closet is back on schedule and hours are: Mondays and Thursdays from 10
AM to noon. Remember to bring a check for a deposit on items borrowed. Your check will
be returned when you return your item. Also remember in order to maintain and replace
worn items a small fee will be charged for use of these items. What a great amenity to
have. We don’t have to store car seats, beds, strollers, bicycles, cribs, wheelbarrows, etc.
Just borrow, return and contribute.
The HOA is hosting another Showcase of Stars on Thursday, November 6th at Harmony
Hall. Tickets are only $5.00 and 20 to 25 professionals will be showcasing their talents for
your entertainment.
Come on out to your next HOA meeting, at Harmony Hall, on Monday, November 3rd
at 7:00PM. See you there.......

Christmas Ice Show
Save The Date:
The Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex will present their annual Christmas Ice Show the second weekend in December. There will be two shows
Saturday, Dec. 13 and one show Sunday, Dec. 14. Details and times will
be available in the December Breeze and posters will be on the bulletin
boards and announced at the Saturday coffees later in November. Keep
your eyes and ears open.

(1) Dogs must be kept inside the mobile home except when taken to outdoors on
a leash for reasonable outdoor exercise periods. A dog leash should be no more the
sixteen (16) feet in length. Any pet found in the community without a leash shall be
picked up and delivered to the animal shelter. When outside the confines of a home,
all droppings must be immediately removed by the Resident. In no event may a dog
be permitted to trespass on another Resident’s property

12. Motor Vehicles, Boats and Trailers:
B. Residents must park their vehicles on their own driveway. The resident is permitted a total of two (2) vehicles per lot, provided there is adequate room, unless there
is sufficient space on the paved area of the lot on which additional vehicles may be
parked in which case those additional vehicles may be parked on the lot. All vehicles
must have liability insurance in the minimum amount. Parking on lawns, Green areas
or vacant lots or, underdeveloped portions of the Community is strictly prohibited.
No overnight parking on streets within the Community. Vehicles are not to be parked
on the grass at anytime.
Only currently licensed vehicles may be stored or driven in the Community. All other
vehicles must be removed from the premise. Residents are not permitted to park
their own vehicles on the street in front of their home other than when loading
or unloading. Management will ban from the Community any vehicles, which in its
sole judgement interfere with the peace, privacy, and/ or general welfare of other
residents or with the appearance of the Community. Vehicles in violation of these
rules may be towed away without notice at the Home Owner’s expense, payable to
the towing service and not to the Community Owner. Resident’s are responsible for
guest’s vehicles.

Women’s Bible Study
We continued our Bible study of the 8 Founding Mothers who shaped the Biblical
story by focusing on the lives of these four women: Kenturah (Genesis 25:1-6), Rebekah
(Genesis 24, 25:19-34, and 26:1-28), Leah (Genesis 29:16-18, 23, 25,and 31-35 and also in
Ruth 4:11) and Rachel (Genesis 29-35; Jeremiah 31:15; and Matthew 2:18).
Our next lesson will focus on the Women of Courage: Jochebed, Pharaoh’s daughter in
Exodus 1:22, and 2:1-10 and Hebrew 11:23. Deborah in Judges 4 and 5 and Jael in Judges
4:14-22 and chapter 5:24-27.
As we approach Thanksgiving and Christmas we will read of 5 women mentioned in the
genealogy of Jesus. We begin our study at this time focusing on Tamar (Genesis 38: 6-11,
13-16, 18, and 27. Also look in Matthew chapters 1-3.) Rahab in Joshua 2:1-21, 6:17-25
and James 2:25. Ruth in Ruth chapters 2-4 and Matthew 1:5. Bathsheba in 2nd Samuel
Chapter 11-12.
We end this lesson studying Mary, the mother of Jesus in Matthew 1:18-25, chapter 2;
also in Luke 1:26-80 and 2nd John 19:25-27.
Bible study sheets are passed out each week on the upcoming week’s lesson. Come

When selling your home
“For Sale By Owner”A Few Things You Need To Know:
1. You need to request a “Rent Disclosure” from the Main Office.
2. You need to provide the Buyer of your home with your copy of the “Prospectus Agreement”. (**Do not give your copy of the “Prospectus”, until the Buyer has
been APPROVED.)
3. You can obtain a copy of an application from the Office, so you have it handy
for a potential buyer.
**Important Reminder: All buyers have to be age-qualified, pass a backgroundcheck, and credit check. Occupants who will be residing in the home, must be at
least 45 years of age, pass a background check and be approved by the Office.
**Even if the Buyer already owns a home in Colony Cove, they have to
call the Office and talk to Linda Ziemba about approval for the new home.
4. The Office will schedule an inspection of the outside of your home & lot. If
anything is not “in-compliance” according to the “Prospectus” Rules & Regulations, these issues will have to be corrected to bring the home into “compliance”
status, before the closing will be approved.
Joyce Austin Sing - A - Long Group Joyce Austin & Sing -A-Long Friends surprised another former member, Jeanne Larson,
in Honor of her 95th Birthday, September 27th. She is a Resident at Verandas/Riverfront.
We had a large group of singers in attendance. The Residents and Staff were included and
enjoyed the music and fun. I presented Jeanne a Birthday Cake. We were served Ice Cream
and Punch by the Activities Directors. Jeanne was even more surprised as we all took
gifts and they had to transport them to her apartment on “WHEELS”. Another rewarding
afternoon. I cannot say enough nice things about these FRIENDS. They give from their Hearts and
spread so much Love and Cheer enjoying the music and fun. We resumed this activity
Oct. 23rd at 11:00 AM, Harmony Hall. It is an open activity and no obligations. Anyone
welcome.

If you were one of the capacity crowd, you had a fabulous time at the Halloween party. De, Gary and
Bob did a fabulous job. And a big round of applause goes to those of you who got in the spirit with those
wonderful/crazy costumes. Isn’t it fun to dress up and act “young again”?
Much appreciation goes out to Mary Weinman for her great job on the Welcome Back “Jack Tambourine”
dance. Sometimes we forget to say “Thank You” to the people who consistently do such a good job for
us. Let’s not take them for granted and say thank you whenever we can.
Again, I say, “We Need You” if we are to continue putting on these events. Come to the entertainment
committee meetings the 3rd Saturday after coffee to hear about the upcoming events and find out how
you can help. Look through this paper to see the people who are chairing these upcoming events:
Thanksgiving Dinner, Thanksgiving Dance (2 separate events), Christmas Dinner and Dance, Gaspirilla
Parade, Roaring Twenties Dance, The Legends Show, Shrimp Dinner Dance, St. Patrick’s Day Dance.
Talk to them and ask how you can get involved. Come to the meeting to offer new ideas.
Pam Graham has volunteered to help us reorganize a general volunteer list. It is not as easy as it looks.
We know some people have signed up and not been called. It is a work in progress. You will be hearing
more about it at our Saturday morning meetings. Please stay with us on this. Look for a sign up sheet
or give her a call at 941-776-4917.

The Roaring Twenties Dance

The French called the 1920’s The Crazy Years because everything was changing. World War I was over, money
flowed, income tax was low, and for the first time in history more
people lived in the cities than on the farm. For those men and women
who only knew farm life, the cities seemed to ROAR.
That is want we want our dance to do “ROAR”. We want you to
be wild and crazy...in an eloquent kind of way. Pull out the stops.
Go shopping. Find yourself some outrageous costumes and bling!
Check out Google and Pinterest and see how people dressed back
then.
Flappers wore head bands with feathers or flowers (Think Billie
Holliday). Women wore long dresses, long beads and hats...lots of
hats...Men were Dapper Dans with 3 piece suits and fedoras (again
more hats). If they weren’t “The Dans or the Flappers”, perhaps
they were “Gangsters and Molls”. Those ladies showed lots of leg!
(Oh My!). Think the Great Gatsby, The God Father, Al Capone, Bonnie
and Clyde. Think tuxedos and zoot suits. Think beads and boas,
suspenders and guns, fishnet stockings and long cigarette holders.
Think what you want – Anything Goes!
Watch for ticket sales to begin early December. Get tickets for your
friends up North so they don’t miss out. There will only be 300 tickets.
Look on the back of your new membership cards. Information on
how to get on our email notification site will be there. Don’t miss
out on what is happening. This will be another sold out event.
As always we can use help – especially with creative ideas to make
this a one of a kind event. Call or see one of the people below at coffee
to get more information. Please come to our monthly entertainment
committee meetings held the 3rd Saturday of the monthly after
coffee. Sit in and listen and offer your ideas. We
welcome your participation. Watch for a special
“Think Tank” session for ideas on this dance.

“Rhythmettes” Line Dancing
Are you ready for another season of line dancing? Hope all our northern
dancers had a safe trip back to Colony Cove and all are ready to dance.
Although few in number at times, we danced all summer and were glad
to have some newcomers join us. They are busy learning the various steps but most important is having fun and getting exercise.
Classes are held every Tuesday evening at Harmony Hall starting at 6:45P.M. If you are
a beginner, arrive a little early and Shirley or one of the girls will be glad to help you with
some of the basic steps or if you have a questions about a particular step. All dances are
cued so no need to memorize. If you don’t know the step being cued, just substitute a
step you know but keep moving and having fun. Also, don’t worry about mistakes as we
all make them. When Shirley goofs, she just cues a step and eventually we are back on
track. Line dancing is lots of fun and good exercise. It’s a fun evening with friends and
neighbors and a chance to meet new people and catch up on the news.

Happy Notes
“Happy Notes” practice for the 2014-2015 season started October 20th. Dr. Arthur
Harvey is our Director and we appreciate him giving of his time and patience for us with
his busy schedule. As you know, this is being written prior to our first practice session due
to the submission deadline. Dr. Harvey has selected a tentative program for the Christmas
season but songs may be deleted and others added once we start practicing. Our scheduler, Joan Roberts, is busy getting concerts scheduled. Joan had some health problems
this summer and moved to a new northern residence so she did not have a great summer.
Now that she is back in the Florida warmth and sunshine we hope her health will improve.
Many of our northern songbirds are back but we have a few who do not return until
after the first of the year. We always welcome new voices- so- if you like to sing give us a
try. Our annual Colony Cove Christmas Concert is scheduled for Sunday, December 14,
2014, at Harmony Hall starting at 2:30P.M. Mark your calendars now.
The “Happy Notes” meet every Monday at Friendship Hall from 1:30 P.M. to 3:00P.M. Get
your singing voice tuned up and we will see you then. We also hope to see some new
faces. EVERYONE WELCOME.

Another fun filled meeting with a great group of amazing photographers.
We are excited to welcome back more of our “away” gang and hello to our newest
member, Jean Lewetag.
After our overview of questions regarding last months assignment and how to add
water droplets to your flower photos, we had our monthly contest.
Mr. Ricker (who did not know the owner of the photos) reviewed the many submissions
of palm trees at dusk and old cars, he decided that Donna Costey had won the covenant
prize for her sunset palm tree photo. She went home with a new instruction book on the
art of Landscape Photography.
The contest for Nov. is to try and get a squirrel to sit still long enough to take it’s picture. Hint, I hear there are a lot of squirrels on Doggie Island.
Our next monthly meeting will be on Wed. Nov. 12th at 1:30pm at HH.
Please come and join us for a fun filled 2 hours. Everyone likes to take pictures.....learn
some new tricks of the trade.

It’s Fall, the best time of the year in Florida. Snowbirds have or are returning, summer
rains are over, 80’s instead of 90’s and less humidity, and we did not have any hurricanes
for which we are thankful. The biggest concern for those of us who are here all summer
are the hurricanes and possible evacuation.
As I mentioned last month, Labor day weekend we all went to the Cracker Barrel for
breakfast rather than having coffee hour at Manatee Hall. It was enjoyed by all and mention was made that we should do it more often. Well, Saturday, October 11th we did. Once
again the food was delicious, service great and the biscuits and gravy people were happy.
Our Welcome Back Dinner is scheduled for Sunday, November 9th at Manatee Hall.
Happy hour 4:00P.M. and dinner at 5:00P.M. Dinner is being catered by “Ma’s” and menu
is ham, sweet potato casserole, green beans, 7-layer salad, rolls and butter and a brownie
with ice cream for dessert. Coffee, iced tea, plates and utensils are furnished. We will have
50/50 and entertainment. Price per person is $10.00. Tickets sellers are Terry Gray, phone

Don’t forget, the South Club also has a coffee hour at Manatee Hall every Saturday
morning starting at 9:00 A.M. Two new couples have joined us recently and it would be

Colony Cove Veterans
Colony Cove will be honoring our Veterans on November 11th. The C. C. Riders Golf
Cart Club will be honoring our Veterans with a parade starting at Manatee Hall at 8:30AM
and ending at Harmony Hall at 10:30AM for a ceremony and refreshments. As we parade
though the park we hope you will come out and cheer those veterans in the parade. For
those veterans who will not be able to participate in the parade, the parade participants
will be cheering for them as we pass by their homes. If you know or meet any of the veterans listed on the previous page, please take the time to thank them for their service to
our country. Without them we would may not the freedoms and lifestyle we enjoy every
day. Thank you from all of us at Colony Cove.

The Korean War Veterans Association, Chapter 199, bradenton invites any veteran who
served on active duty within korea including its territorial waters and airspace from sept.
1945 to the present time, or any veteran on active duty outside of korea from june 25,

We meet on the 4th thurs. of each month at 1030 at the veterans of foreign wars hall

Veterans For Veterans
Vets For Vets is an established club in Colony Cove. The Club was
started this past spring. The club membership is for all honorably
discharged U.S. veterans, as well as those veterans of forces friendly
to the U.S. We also have associate memberships for anyone living in Colony Cove that
desires to join us in support of the club. Our mission is to reach out to other vets and
their spouses to help provide information, support and assistance whenever we can. We
also will be having social events and trips for anyone to attend.
Several things will be going on in November. November 11th is the Veterans Day Celebration. The day starts with a golf cart parade leaving Manatee Hall at 9:30 finishing at
Harmony Hall where refreshments will be served. Following the refreshments a ceremony
will start at 11:00.
We still need photos of us in uniforms in our younger years for display on a Who’s
Dat table in Harmony Hall. Photos will be returned. We hope to get as many veterans in
attendance as possible.
Vets For Vets is teaming up with members of the Golf Cart Club to make sure any and
all Veterans can ride in the parade. Please call John Walters (Outreach Coordinator) (941)
845-4349 if you need assistance or you can give someone who has no cart a ride in the
parade.
On November 20th, a trip to the Sarasota National Cemetery is planned. This is a
walking tour of the cemetery and is limited to 25-30 people per tour. Anyone planning
on going should be at Harmony Hall by 12:45 and ready to leave at 1:00. You can either
make arrangements to carpool or take your own vehicle. For further information contact
Sandy Dunigan at (941) 722-7162. So she can have a head count please RSVP if you are
planning on attending.
On Dec. 7th, the 73rd anniversary of Pearl Harbor, a trip is planned to Tampa’s War Memorial Park on Hwy 301. For anyone wishing to attend please contact Al Collins at (941)

The Veterans Memorial is going forward. Several meetings have been held and the
proposed draft has been well received by Dennis, the Park manager, and has been put
out for Contractor bids. As this project moves along we will keep you updated on its
progress.
Are you in need of American Flags? The 8”x12” yard flags are $1.00. Large “We Support
Our Troops” flags are $10.00, and VFV member decals are $2.00. These can be purchased

The club meets on the 3rd Wednesday monthly at Ellenton Hall 6:00 pm. Come join us
November 19th, for our next monthly meeting. We are always looking for new members

WHO DAT VET
During our Veterans Day Celebration on Nov. 11 we are going to have a contest called
“WHO DAT VET”. We are going to collect your pictures of when you were in uniform so
many years ago. The Vets for Vets club will be collecting them at all our coffee hours and
will also pick them up from you for this contest. The pictures will be displayed during
our celebration at Harmony Hall that day. We would also like to have any stories that you
have written about your experiences. Those attending will have a chance to see if they
can recognize who the pictures belong to and to share your experiences. If you don’t

The New England Club of Colony Cove is an organization which strives to provide social opportunities for
members and friends who reside in the Colony Cove Community and beyond. Membership is open to all from
Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut, as well as any others who wish
to join us and share in our activities. For example, we are pleased to have members from Canada, Ohio, New York,

We hope you enjoyed a happy, healthy summer.
Our official activities will begin with our November 14th meeting a 11:00 a.m. in Manatee Hall. A pot luck lunch will follow so everyone can renew friendships and get back
into the swing of things. The nominating committee will present a list of nominations
for board members with elections held in December.

The Canadian Club of Colony Cove
Welcome Back! November is the start of the 2014-2015 season of the
Canadian Club. We have a number of planned events, which are listed
below, and we invite all Canadian and American Snowbirds to participate in these and
our interesting monthly meetings.
Our Executive meetings are the first Monday of each month at the Harmony Hall
Conference Room at 10:30 am. The first meeting is scheduled for November 3rd, 2014.
The General meetings are held the second Monday of the month at Ellenton Hall at
9:30 am. The first General meeting is to be held Monday, November 10th. Complimentary
coffee, tea and donuts will be served. We strive to make these meetings interesting by
engaging speakers to present topics of importance. Please join us, your suggestions and
participation in our Club is of vital importance for our continuance.

Wisconsin/Minnesota Club
Finally! The Welcome Back Coffee is here. Monday, November 3, at 9:30a.m., in Ellenton
Hall. Bring your own cup and we’ll provide the coffee and rolls. You’re in for a surprise if
you haven’t yet seen any of the changes to Ellenton Hall. Think about any new things you’d
like to include in this season for the club. Our Christmas luncheon needs to be discussed
as the Crap Trap II is for sale and is not currently open. This will be an important meeting,
so please try to attend.
The potluck for November is scheduled for noon on Saturday, November 22, at Ellenton
Hall. Social time will be be from 12-12:30p.m.; the meal will be served at 12:30 p.m. The meat
for the potluck hasn’t yet been determined but the chef is leaning toward ham. He should
have made his decision by the Welcome Back Coffee. Remember to bring your own table
service, drink, and a dish to pass that will serve at least eight. The club will provide coffee
and hot water. Dues will be collected at this meeting, they will remain $2 per person.
Future events will be discussed in next month’s Breeze. Any resident of Colony Cove
who knows where Minnesota and Wisconsin are located (or who has visited) is welcome
to come and check us out. The Coffee would be a good chance to see how we do things.
We are relaxed, non-pressured, and definitely anti-cliques. We are definitely fun loving

Each team drives to scheduled homes of shut-ins in assigned area following your leader.
Song sheets will be provided ahead of time. Dress festively, and warmly if night is cool.
Bring a flashlight and, if you have one, a musical instrument (ie. bells, harmonica, guitar,
fiddle, trumpet, etc.) We will sing several carols at each home and deliver a decorated plate
of home-baked cookies baked by our wonderful CC bakers. Cookies must be received by
Saturday, December 13th to be sorted and wrapped on Sunday.
If you know of someone ill, handicapped or homebound, or who has recently lost a love
one, please write the name, address and phone # on the posted Shut-In List in one of the
Halls, or contact Kathy Plourde (723-1933) or Jan Belfield (722-6801) so each person to be
caroled to will be contacted and scheduled ahead of time.
After caroling we are all invited to meet in Harmony Hall for hot chocolate, hot cider and
refreshments. Each caroler is asked to bring some luscious sandwiches or awesome snacks
to share at our get-together.

Harmony Hall Hobby Club
November 1st------that means that there are 26 days until Thanksgiving and around
54 days until CHRISTMAS!! Wow, didn’t we just pack away all the holiday decorations?!
It’s hard to consider, but we have to start gearing up for the pre-holiday planning. Just
look in the department stores----they have all kinds of holiday items on display!
It is time to start up our creative inclinations and think about what we can make
for the holidays. There are so many fun ideas for gift-giving, decorating, and holiday
sharing. Our club members will be anxious to share project ideas that we have found over the summer. With our members being from various parts of the United States and Canada we get a variety
of new trends and popular project ideas. We look forward to setting up workshops and classes with
anyone who would care to share their craft ideas.
Also, a late reminder of the Christmas Trash and Treasure Sale which is held on Saturday, November 1, 2014. De Griffin is our chairman and will make available items which can help to start your
Christmas planning.
Hold the date of Tuesday, December 16, 2014 to attend the annual Christmas party for
club members at Peridia. The committee of ladies who create this event can promise a
wonderful meal, lots of fun and friendship. There will be more information forthcoming
at our meetings.
Hobby club members---don’t forget that we have a library of magazines and books
on crafting that you can borrow. Just ask to see what is available.
Our Fall “Welcome Back Luncheon” will be Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Harmony Hall. Cora
Langley and Mary Weiman are co-chairing this event. We all look forward to a nice time.
The month of February, when we schedule the annual “Bus Trip” is fast approaching. Please give
some thought as to where you may be interested in going. We are open to your ideas and will be
needing suggestions ASAP. It is important to make this decision so as to have enough time to make
reservations for transportation.

Have you ever enjoyed a play or show of any type and thought to yourself. . ......”gee, that looks like
fun”, or even…….’’I could do something like that”? Well, here is your chance. Our ten minute plays
have been selected and we will be casting soon for our annual show in March. There will be roles
for 10 women and 8 men. And if acting hasn’t been your secret ambition, there are lots of other jobs
that go along with putting on a show.
We meet at 2:00 PM on the 1st Wednesday of each month in the Conference Room at Harmony
Hall.
In addition to putting on shows, we love attending them, and more times than not, enjoy the
group rate.

Gray Pretenders Discount Tickets
The Gray Pretenders will again be obtaining discount tickets for the Players Theater in Sarasota.
On JANUARY 11th, we will be going to see Cabaret, which, of course, needs no introduction. Those
of you who have been regular attendees know what great job the actors do at this theater and I am
sure this will be no exception. If you have never come with us and are interested in knowing more,
please give me a call. This performance is sure to be a sell out, so we will be selling the tickets a little
early starting mid November. There will be a limited number of tickets available. We will be selling
them at The Friendly Social Club coffee on Saturday mornings. To hear more about this and to learn
about what we do at the Gray Pretenders, come to our monthly meetings held in the conference
room at Harmony Hall on the first Wednesday of the month at 2:00PM.

South Quilt Club
We want to Welcome Back Linda and Fran; we missed you and can’t wait
to see everyone back here soon. Safe travels for all our Snowbirds that are
on their way. We also want to wish everyone a wonderful and Thankful
Thanksgiving.
This month I am featuring two different kinds of quilts that we will be
looking to make as soon as the “snowbirds” start arriving. One is called a
“Jellyroll” and the other is called a “Chevron”. The chevron will be the one
that each one of us makes 1 square and then we put them all together and
have it quilted, and it will probably go to the Bazaar Fair and raffle tickets
would be sold. All of these quilts that we make are made from scraps, so
that’s why I remind everyone every month that we are always looking for
scrap material.
Would like to also remind everyone that we are always looking for donations of scrap or any type of sewing articles; we love to take donations. It’s
amazing what this group can create with scrap material. This past month
we received a large donation of scrap material and plenty of odds and ends
for us to use this fall in the making of our next group quilt
We meet every Friday at 9AM to 3PM at Friendship Hall. Many of us stay
and have lunch together.
Remember our club is free, there is no membership fee. So please stop
by and visit with us. We all look forward to meeting you. This year we have
had many ladies stop by and have shown some interest in our group.

The Colony Cove Woodworkers Club would like to remind folks that sometimes your
trash is not our treasure. In most cases it is just trash. Used lumber, cabinet parts, old
flooring, and drywall, are many of the items that are not reusable. Please refrain from
dropping those items off at our shop. Those items should be placed on your curb during
normal trash pick-up.
We utilize a lot of donated tools and wood products. Please call or check with a club
member before dropping your donated items off.

Woodworkers Club
Hello loyal readers and club members. By the time this issue comes out we should have
had our first new year business meeting. One of our top issues and one that our bylaws
require is soliciting volunteers for various club positions. Voting will take place at this
months meeting, 19th at 1000 Friendship Hall.
We are also going to participate with CC riders and put up a club Christmas tree. The
ladies of the Beading Club (several of our members) will give us a hand. Looking for
something to get you in the holiday spirit, come on out. More to come on scheduling.
The backbone of our club are our membership dues, with this monies we purchase new
and repair equipment. We also welcome donated tools, hardware and some wood products. However, I would like to remind you that sometimes your trash is not our treasure.
In most cases its just trash. Used flooring , drywall and most used lumber are not items
that we can repurpose. Please refrain from dropping those items off at our shop. Those
items should be placed on your curb during normal trash pickup.

New name, same game, same rules, same prizes and it is still free.
C.C. Trivia Club meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at
Manatee Hall. We start the games at 6:30 P.M. The cash prizes are: 1st
place $25.00, 2nd place $15.00 and 3rd place $10.00. We do have a 50/50
game.
Some of the questions are easy and some of the questions are hard. So if you are interested, please join us for 2 hours of fun. It is a chance to get together with friends and
meet new people. It’s an evening to try and remember things that we learned a long
time ago. We would love to see you there.
We are exploring new avenues to serve food during the winter months. If you have

Do you have an Amateur Radio License or are you studying for one? Are you interested
in finding out what it takes to be a Ham Radio operator? If so, some Colony Cove residents
have formed a HAM Club and are looking for other radio operators or residents who might
be interested in getting together.
The club’s next meeting will be held on Saturday, November 15 at 1:00 p.m. Harmony
Hall Glass Room. The club meetings will be held the 3rd Saturday each month through
June 2015. Due to Christmas, the club will skip December.

Boat Club
For those snowbirds that have returned, WELCOME BACK! Our first meeting of the year
will already have been held by the time you read this. I’m sure it will have been great.
We started out with pizza and had a small swap meet where folks with boating related
parts & accessories brought them in to swap or trade. Could be something we do every
so often. In the future we are looking forward to a couple of trips to Egmont Key, fishing tournaments, misc. boat trips, picnics, professional information, sea food boil and whatever
else we can come up with. The November meeting will be started with a Mexican Food
Pot-Luck. I’m really looking forward to a fun filled season, but I can’t stress enough the importance
of everyone’s participation. We need YOUR ideas as to what YOU want to do and most
importantly we need your physical participation in the events. Let’s make this the best
Boating Season ever!!

I would like to welcome Jan Carr as the new Vice President of the Garden Club. Jan,
along with her husband Bob and their son John, have been gardeners in the club since
its inception and they bring with them a wealth of gardening experience. Thanks, Jan,
for volunteering for the position.
“The garden is a place of peace and serenity where I enjoy reading my bible” says
Debra Bundrum. Debra moved from North Carolina to Colony Cove in September and
immediately started her garden of beets, peas, carrots and onions.
Margaret Dotse called me today to share her excitement as she was preparing to eat the
carrots she just picked. “I never thought gardening could be so much fun and rewarding,
I just love it!” says Margaret.
The members say they truly enjoy the meetings because so much is learned from each
other and everyone is so willing to share their thoughts, ideas and even the fruits of their
labor – yes, their herbs and veggies. We have a buddy system at the garden that if anyone
is sick or on vacation, everyone would chip in and tend to their garden until they return.
How awesome!!!
The club meeting is every first Wednesday of the month at 9:00 am at the garden and
ALL are invited. You do not have to be a member to attend.

I would like to take this time to welcome back our Northern Golfers. It will be nice to see

Welcome back to all our snow birds. The winter mixed leagues are in full swing. The
Lakes has a social shuffle on Tuesdays (9AM) and on Saturdays (9:30AM) at the Harmony
Hall Shuffleboard Courts. All residents including all North and South shuffle club members
are welcome. This is a great way to meet your neighbors and have fun.
The Lakes Club has a very competitive league on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9AM.
Anyone who is interested in learning how to shuffle, proper etiquette and different

North Shuffle Club is an organization geared at having fun and open to everyone. Good

6:30 (quarter night).

Colony Cove Orchid Club
The Colony Cove Orchid Club held its second meeting of the new season in Manatee
Hall on October 6, 2014. Program Director Bob Milner opened the meeting with the Secretary’s and Treasurer’s report and thanked those members who had attended the Open
House for Florida Suncoast Orchids in Myakka City, Florida. Owner and grower Jim Roberts
raved at the large number of Colony Cove Orchid Club members who traveled out there
to view the open house and make some very substantial purchases. He and his wife were
very appreciative of our membership and hoped to see us again at the upcoming orchid
shows.
Bob then proceeded to show the members how to remove a keiki from a dendrobium
orchid. Keiki is the Hawaiian word for baby and that is what most orchid seedlings are
called. With the assistance of Colony Cove Orchid Club member Libby Rupert, who delicately removed the keiki from the mother plant, Bob then potted the small keiki in a very
small plastic pot and gave it to the owner of the mother plant, Ann Gabriele. Bob then
separated another keiki from the mature Dendrobium orchid, potted it again to show club
members and gave it to Libby Rupert for her excellent assistance.

a ceramic pot and had roots and
pseudo bulbs growing in all directions. Bob expertly showed the
membership how to successfully cut off a portion of the plant and create a new division
of the same orchid plant.
Colony Cove Orchid Club members also vote for their favorite orchid from the Bloom
Table. Club members bring in orchid plants in bloom for the monthly meeting and are
then judged by fellow club members and awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons.The
1st place blue ribbon for the October meeting was awarded to Richard Hale for his Red
Spider orchid.Three 2nd place red ribbons and three 3rd place white ribbons were also
awarded to various club members.
Colony Cove Orchid Club members prepare to vote for their favorite orchid while Pat
Jeans looks over the many orchids set out on the bloom table. Program Director Milner
also set up a number of orchids on our monthly raffle table. When these orchids are
available, Bob brings them to the meeting and raffle tickets are sold to the members in
attendance. For $1.00 a ticket or six for $5.00 Colony Cove Orchid Club members get the
chance to take home a brand new plant. The plants pictured below were on the raffle
table and available to members as the numbers were called out. As a winning number is
called out,the club member with the winning number gets to choose which orchid he or
she would like to take home with them. This continues until all the raffle orchids are gone.
The next meeting of the Colony Cove Orchid Club will be on Monday, November 3,
2014 at Manatee Hall at 1:00 PM. New members are always invited to stop by and join
our little botanical group. Dues are $5.00 per year and the club meets from September
through May. Growing orchids is not as difficult as many people think and by joining the
Colony Cove Orchid Club members get additional help with their orchids and a chance
to meet with other people who have the same interests. Membership is not reserved for
only Colony Cove residents. A number of our members live in communities that surround
Colony Cove.

Turkey Lattice Pie
by South Hobby Club
Marinated Thanksgiving Turkey
1-1/2 cups chicken broth
2 cups water
1 cup soy sauce
2/3 cup lemon juice
2 garlic cloves, minced
1-1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon pepper
1 turkey (12 to 13 pounds)
Combine the first seven ingredients; reserve 1 cup for
basting. Pour remaining marinade into a 2-gal. resealable
plastic bag. Add the turkey and seal bag; turn to coat. Refrigerate overnight, turning several times. Drain and discard
marinade.
Heat grill ac­cording to manufacturer’s directions for
indirect cooking or roast in a conventional oven*. Tuck
wings under turkey and place with breast side down on
grill rack. Cover and grill for 1 hour. Add 10 briquettes to
coals; turn the turkey breast side up. Brush with reserved
marinade. Cover and cook for 2 hours, adding 10 briquettes
to maintain heat and brushing with marinade every 30
minutes until meat thermometer reads 185 °. Cover and
let stand 20 minutes before carving. Yield: 8 servings.
*Conventional Roasting Method: Place turkey on a rack in
a large roaster. Bake, uncovered, at 325° for 4 to 4-1/2 hours
or until meat thermome­ter reads 185°. Baste frequently
with reserved mari­nade. When turkey begins to brown,
cover lightly with a tent of aluminum foil.
Turkey Reuben
1 slice white bread, toasted
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
2 ounces thinly sliced cooked turkey breast
1/8 teaspoon caraway seed
1/2 cup sauerkraut
1 slice Swiss cheese
Green pepper rings, optional
Place the toast on an ungreased baking sheet; spread the
top with mustard. Arrange turkey over mustard. Sprinkle
with caraway seed; top with the sauerkraut and cheese.
Broil about 4 in. from the heat for 3 minutes or until cheese
is bubbly and lightly browned. Top with pepper rings if
desired. Yield: 1 serving.
3 tubes (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent rolls
4 cups cubed cooked turkey
1-1/2 cups (6 ounces) shredded cheddar or Swiss cheese
1 package (10 ounces) frozen chopped broccoli,
thawed and drained
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted
1-1/3 cups milk
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon dried minced onion
1/2 teaspoon salt
Dash pepper
1 egg, lightly beaten
Unroll two tubes of crescent roll dough; separate into
rectangles. Place rectangles in an ungreased 15-in. x 10-in.
x 1- in. baking pan. Press onto the bottom and 1/4 in. up the
sides of pan to form a crust, sealing seams and perforations.
Bake at 375° for 5-7 minutes or until light golden brown. In a bowl, combine the turkey, cheese, broccoli, soup,
milk, mustard, onion, salt and pepper; mix well. Spoon over
crust. Unroll remain­ing dough; divide into rectangles. Seal
perforations. Cut each rectangle into four 1-in. strips. Using
strips, make a lat­tice design on top of turkey mixture. Brush
with egg. Bake 17-22 minutes longer or until top crust is
golden brown and filling is hot. Yield: 12-16 servings.
Apple Sage Stuffing
Prep and Cook: 40 minutes (Makes 8 servings.)
1 pound ground pork sausage with sage
8 ounces trinity mix (fresh diced onions, peppers, celery)
1/2 cup dried berry medley (berries and raisins)
1 large Granny Smith apple (rinsed)
1 tablespoon flour
1 (14-ounce) can reduced-sodium chickenbroth
1 (6-ounce) box cornbread stuffing mix
Cooking spray
Preheat oven to 450°F. Preheat large saute pan on medium-high 2-3 minutes. Crumble sausage into pan (wash
hands); stir in trinity mix and berries. Cook 5-7 minutes,
stirring often, until meat is well browned and vegetables
are tender. Meanwhile, peel apple; cut into small pieces.
Stir flour into sausage mixture and cook 2 minutes, stirring often, until flour is hot and well blended into mixture.
Stir in apple, broth, and stuffing mix until well blended.
Coat 2-quart baking dish with cooking spray; add stuffing
mixture. Bake 20-25 minutes or until golden and internal
temperature reaches 165°F. Use a meat thermometer to
accurately ensure doneness. Let stand 5 minutes before
serving.
Potato Pumpkin Mash
Prep: 20 min. Cook: 25 min. Makes: 8 servings
8 cups cubed peeled pie pumpkin (about 2 lbs.)
8 medium Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
(about 2 lbs.)
1/2 to 3/4 cup 2% milk, divided
8 Tbsp. butter, softened, divided
1 tsp. salt, divided
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1/4 tsp. coarsely ground pepper
Place pumpkin in a large saucepan; add water to cover.
Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cook uncovered, for 20-25
minutes or until tender.
Meanwhile, place potatoes in another saucepan; add
water to cover.
Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cook, uncovered, for 10-15
minutes or until tender.
Drain potatoes; return to pan.
Mash potatoes, adding 1/4 cup milk, 4 Tbsp. butter and
1/2 tsp. salt. Add additional milk if needed to reach desired
consistency. Transfer to a serving bowl; keep warm.
Drain pumpkin; return to pan. Mash pumpkin, gradually
adding the remaining butter and salt and enough remaining milk to reach desired consistency; spoon evenly over
potatoes. Cut through mashed vegetables with a spoon or
knife to swirl. Drizzle with olive oil; sprinkle with pepper. Serve immediately.
Warm Green Beans & Potato Salad
Start to finish: 30min. Makes: 10 servings
1 lb. small red potatoes,quartered
1/4 cup olive oil
2 Tbsp. white wine vinegar
1/2 tsp.salt
1/8 tsp. each garlic powder, ground mustard and pepper
1/8 tsp. each dried basil, parsley
flakes and tarragon
1 lb. fresh green beans, cut into 2-in. pieces
2 medium tomatoes, coarsely chopped
2 Tbsp. chopped onion
Place potatoes in a large saucepan; add water to cover.
Bring to a boil. Cook, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Meanwhile,
in a large bowl, whisk the oil, vinegar and seasonings.
Add green beans to potatoes; return to a boil. Cook 3-5
minutes longer or until vegetables are tender. Drain; add
to dressing and toss to coat. Stir in tomatoes and onion. Serve warm.

Roasted Fall Vegetables
1/4 cup apple butter
1/4 cup canola oil
2 cups pre-diced fresh sweet potatoes
2 cups pre-diced fresh butternut squash
2 cups refrigerated red potato wedges
1 1/2 cups fresh baby carrots
1/2 cup pre-diced red onions
aluminum foil
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon seasoned pepper
Preheat oven to 450°F. Whisk apple butter and oil, in large
bowl , until smooth. Stir in all vegetables until well coated.
Line baking sheet with foil; arrange vegetables in single
layer. Sprinkle garlic salt and seasoned pepper over top.
Bake 35-40 minutes, stirring occasionally , or until vegetables are tender and golden. Serve.
Creamy Caramel-Apple Glaze
1 1/2 cups unsweetened apple juice
1 cinnamon stick (3 in.)
1 cup Kraft caramel bits
1 Tbsp. heavy whipping cream
Sliced apples and doughnut holes or vanilla ice cream
Optional toppings: chopped salted peanuts, sprinkles or miniature chocolate chips
Place apple juice and cinnamon stick in a small saucepan.
Bring to a boil; cook until liquid is reduced to1/2 cup, about
10 minutes. Discard cinnamon stick.
Reduce heat to medium; add caramel bits, half at a time,
whisking after each addition until caramels are melted. Stir
in cream; keep warm until ready to serve.
Transfer to a serving dish; serve with apples and doughnut holes for dipping. Glaze can also be spooned over ice
cream. If desired, sprinkle with toppings. (Warm the glaze
in a microwave if the mixture becomes too thick.)
Pumpkin Spice Bread
3 cups sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
4 eggs, lightly beaten
1 can (16 ounces) solid,pack pumpkin
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 cup water
In a large bowl, combine sugar, oil and eggs. Add pumpkin and mix well. Combine dry ingredients; add to the
pumpkin mixture alternately with water. Pour into two
greased 9-in. x 5-in. x 3-in. loaf pans. Bake at 350° for 60-70
minutes or until bread tests done. Cool in pans 10 minutes
before removing to a wire rack; cool completely. Yield: 2
loaves.
Applebutter-PumpkinPie
Prep: 40 min. Chill: 3 hr. Serves:10
CRUST:
1/2 cup pecan pieces,finely chopped
1 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/4 cup sugar
4 Tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
FILLING:
1 envelope (1/4 oz.) unflavored gelatin
1 8-oz. package cream cheese, at room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
1Tbsp. pumpkin pie spice
Pinch of salt
1 15-oz. can pumpkin puree
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup apple butter
Preheat oven to 350°F. Mist a 9-inch pie plate with cooking spray. Make crust: Spread pecans on a baking sheet;
toast until nuts are golden and fragrant, about 8 minutes,
shaking pan twice. Transfer to a bowl to cool; chop finely.
Mix pecans, graham cracker crumbs, sugar and butter
until evenly moistened. Press into pie plate. Bake until
edges are golden brown, about 10 minutes. Let cool on a
wire rack.
Make filling: In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over 1/4 cup
cool water; let stand for 5 minutes to soften.
Using an electric mixer on medium-high speed, beat
cream cheese,sugar, pumpkin pie spice and salt until
smooth. Mix in pumpkin puree.
Place bowl of gelatin in a pan of simmering water and
warm, stirring, until melted, about 2 minutes.
When gelatin is clear and smooth, remove bowl and
stir in 1/2 cup pumpkin filling. Fold gelatin mixture into
remaining pumpkin filling. In a smaller bowl, whip cream
until stiff peaks form, then fold into pumpkin filling. Spoon
filling into pie crust and smooth top. Spoon apple butter
around top of filling; press lightly into filling with spoon.
Drag a small knife through apple butter in a swirl pattern
to create a marble effect, taking care not to hit crust. Chill
for at least 3 hours or overnight.

Everything Nice Muffins
1 pkg. (18.25 oz.) spice or carrot cake mix
1 can (15 oz.) Libby’s 100% Pure Pumpkin
6 T. egg substitute or 3 large white eggs
1/3 cup water
2/3 cup raisins
Preheat oven to 350º F. Grease or paper-line 24 muffin
cups.
Combine cake mix, pumpkin, egg substitute, and water
in large mixer bowl until moistened. Beat on low speed
for 30 seconds; scrape bowl. Beat on medium speed for 2
minutes. Stir in raisins. Spoon batter into prepared muffin
cups, filling full.
Bake for 18-22 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in
centers comes out clean. Cool in pans on wire racks for 10
minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely. Store
muffins in covered container.

Cooking Challenge
September was Caribbean night at the challenge. Great food as always. The following
were our winning recipes:
Appetizer – Faye Gaylord with her Caribbean Coconut Chicken Bites:
4 thin slices prosciutto
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves pounded to 1/4” thickness
1 ripe mango peeled and cut into 8-1” wide strips
1 cup all purpose flour
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon curry powder
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon finely crumbed dried thyme
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups unsweetened shredded coconut
Vegetable oil for deep frying, as needed
1 lime, juiced
1 lime cut into wedges
Place a prosciutto slice on each chicken breast. Trim to fit inside breast with ½” border of
chicken. Place 2 slices of mango in center. Roll breast lengthwise to completely enclose
mango and prosciutto. Tuck and pinch ends to seal rolls. Arrange on baking sheet and
refrigerate until firm (about 30 min).
Combine flour, salt, curry powder, black pepper, and thyme in a bowl. Pour onto a plate.
Pour beaten eggs onto a separate plate. Sprinkle coconut onto a third plate.
Slice chicken rolls into 1-1 ½” pieces. Roll pieces into flour mixture then completely
coat with egg and then roll in coconut. Arrange on a plate and refrigerate to set (about
15 minutes).
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Heat vegetable oil on medium in a deep heavy skillet. Fry
half the chicken rolls in oil until golden brown (about 4 minutes). Remove with slotted
spoon and drain on paper towels. Repeat with remaining chicken rolls. Place on baking
sheet and bake about 10 minutes. Splash with lime juice. Serve with lime wedges.
Entree – JoAnne Ambrosia with her Caribbean Pork Chops:
1 ripe mango
2 large peaches, pitted and diced
1/3 cup minced red onions
3 tablespoons minced fresh basil
1-2 teaspoons fresh ginger
1-2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
4 (6oz.) center-cut loin pork chops
½ cup Caribbean jerk marinade/sauce like Lawry’s
In bowl, combine mango, peaches, onions, basil, ginger and lime juice. Season with
salt & pepper. Heat grill.
Coat pork with cooking spray, brush with jerk marinade. Grill 8 min. or until 140 degrees,
turning once and brushing occasionally with marinade. Rest 5 minutes. Serve with mango
salsa.
Side Dish – Lucy Buckbeyer Boucher with her Bajan Mac-a-roni pie:
1 lb. macaroni
1 green sweet pepper, chopped
2 tablespoons paprika
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 onion, chopped
2 tablespoons French’s mustard
Fresh parsley, chopped
2 tablespoons Bajan seasoning (see below)
16 oz. grated cheddar cheese (hold back ¼ cup for topping)
1 tablespoon Bajan seasoning (Hold for topping)
Cook and drain macaroni (do not overcook). Transfer to a large bowl. Add each ingredient mixing each slowly. Place mixture into an oven safe dish. Top with remaining cheese
and Bajan seasoning. Bake at 350 degrees until top is golden brown.
Dessert – Fred Roselli with his Pineapple trifle. Unfortunately he did not provide us with
a recipe. Come on Fred, get with it.
We met on October 29th and our spice was vanilla and our ingredient was any citrus
fruit. More on that in the December issue. Speaking of November; we will not meet in
November or December due to the holidays but we’d love to see you on January 28th.

Commissioners Meeting
On Tuesday September 23rd, 68 of people from Terra Siesta, Ridgewood,
Colony Cove, Veranda Springs, and River Plantation attended the Manatee
County Commissioners Meeting. The Commissioners passed the resolution
unanimously to allow the use of golf carts on sidewalks in Manatee County
if the criteria is met that was set by the Manatee Public Works Department.
Sage Kamiya, deputy Director of traffic Management then came to Colony
Cove where we met and defined the areas of use that we needed to petition
for use. We need 67% of the property or home owners to sign the petition
to continue forward and go to the Florida State DOT. After the state DOT it
then goes to the Federal DOT for an exception on the sidewalks. There has
been one exception given for kids to drive ATV’s from a campground to an
area where they ride in a field.
Our objective is to help our friends and neighbors maintain their mobility and independence in their senior years. There are a lot of people who
would use their carts for doctor’s appointments and other errands. In fact
simple math is if you run 4 errand trips per week in carts (there are over
1000 carts in the designated area) you will take over 4000 car trips off US
301 per week.
We are now at the state level looking at the Federal. If you have any
questions please come to the next CC Riders Meeting, the first Wednesday
of each month at Manatee Hall at noon. We intend to stay positive, and
use our votes where needed. We started an email campaign to the County
Commissioners; let’s try the State Representatives and the Governors running for office.
Let’s stay positive, it doesn’t matter what has happened in the past 6 years,
we are this far, we have a group with at least 5 communities, let’s make this
happen. We need your vote on the survey. Please sign (only one signature

Proposed Activities
There were a couple of proposed events that were brought before the
membership to be discussed and or decided upon.
1) Fran Hettman proposed a pub crawl with the Anna Maria Island Scalawag.
Cost will be $40.00 a person. Will pick us up at Ellenton Hall and the crawl
will include Woody’s, Beef o’ Bradys, Chumleys, the AMVETS and others,
but the list is not firm so it could change. Everyone liked the idea.The date
is tentatively scheduled for January 27, 2015, from 1-5. Sign up will begin
early January.
2) Another proposed activity was presented by Don Henke, for a Peace
River Cruise. A date later in the year when it cools off will be decided upon.
The cost would be $24.95 pp and the idea was received with enthusiasm.
3) Freddy Rosselli asked if anyone would be interested in having a BACK
UP CONTEST using his little trailer hooked behind a golf cart and backing it
up through a series of obstacles. Forward, backward etc. Lot of discussion
but no decision was made for this event.
Some of the other things discussed were:
Jeannette Jenkins and Mike Brewer are going to contact golf cart owners
in other communities to make them aware of what we are trying to do and
encourage them to join us for our meet and greet on September 20 with
the county commissioners.

There was no report in the Breeze for October as we did
not play during August. We started play again on the 5th
September. Being as not everyone is back, the numbers
were low. By the end of the month we were at 14 players.
Jim Pecoraro was in the money each week, albeit one was
in the Basement. Not bad to have money each week. He
will have to give us all some lessons. As I write this going
into October, we should see a lot more coming back. So the
money will be a little better. We could still do with some
new players. We play at Harmony Hall on Friday afternoons
at 1:00PM. Sign in at 12.45PM. See you there!!!!!

Perry Edenburn (Harley Worthit) was born in Ames, Iowa, the doctors did everything
they could do, but he pulled through. Growing up in South Dakota, the entertainment
bug bit him when he saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show. He taught himself to play
the guitar and then became a drummer in the school band. Perry graduated from high
school but never attended college, although he drove by a few. After being a drummer
in many bands, Perry was asked to fill in for a comedian that had left town. Not wanting
to disappoint the rest of the act, he made his first attempt at professional comedy and
the rest is history.

April 8, 2015: George Casey
South Bend, Indiana is not the music capital of the world, nor is it near New York or Los
Angles, but Mark never let that stop him. Singing since he was a child, Mark took every
opportunity he could to sing for those who would listen and those who believed in his
talent. Growing up in Indiana gave Mark plenty of opportunity to perform and grow with
his talent. Mark carried his singing through high school and decided to enlist. Joining
the Air Force was Mark’s first stop on his way to being a top performer. His talent earned
him accolades when he was selected as the Air Force’s finest vocalist of 1975, and then
he toured with Tops in Blue. Variety magazine dubbed him “one of the finest entertainers
in show business”.
George was born in a remote village on the west coast of Ireland legendary for its storytelling. Growing up in a large family, George saw humor in everything and honed his skills
as a comic at the expense of his sisters. In 1970 George immigrated to this great country
and earned his citizenship. With his wife and children he now calls Branson, Missouri home.
For over 30 years George has been entertaining audiences all over this country with his
self-deprecating humor and clean jokes and stories.
February 11, 2015: Susan Carman
Tim Wilkins
Susan Hudson was born in Memphis, Tennessee. She has traveled doing shows in many
different countries, England, Scotland, Germany, the Netherlands, and traveled doing USO
shows throughout the United States. Susan has appeared on the national television show
Hee Haw and has graced the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. Susan has opened shows for
Conway Twitty, Charlie Rich, and has appeared on the silver screen. Susan is a powerhouse
entertainer and really has a way of delivering a song to her audience.
Tim is a 20 year veteran stand-up comedian and TV personality with a colorful way
of bringing laughter to all ages. From as far back as he can remember he watched the
masters of comedy and is following in their footsteps. Since that dream started he’s gone
from sneaking into comedy clubs just to watch, to headlining shows around the world. In
addition to the stage Tim has worked on radio and TV. Over the years Tim has opened to
the legends of music, Diana Ross, Earth Wind & Fire, the Righteous Brothers, Hall & Oates
to name a few. Tim will leave you rocking in your seats.

The gala New Year’s Party is quickly approaching, and December 31, 2014 is just around
the corner. We will be welcoming in the New Year at Harmony Hall for all the residents of our
Colony Cove Community.The committee planning this event has been working very hard to
make this an event all will be proud to attend, but unfortunately to order the correct amount of
food, ticket sales will stop on Saturday, December 27. We will be transforming Harmony Hall
completely to accomplish the celebrating of the New Year. We will have 6 ft round tables, so
communicating with your friends will be so much easier. Finger snacks (snack mix, popcorn,
etc.) will be available at your table. The doors will open at 7:30 PM and dancing will begin at
8:30 PM and continue thru 12:30 AM Thursday morning. Once the golden hour has passed, a
continental breakfast and coffee will be served starting at 12:30 AM, so all the guests will have
full stomachs for the “long” ride home. As you can see this will be an outstanding party and you
can join in the festivities for only $10.00 per person, what a deal! This is a BYOB event and
ice will be provided. Ticket sales will begin on October 25, 2014 at most Saturday coffees, or
by calling LYNN MERCER 722-3295.
