PASTOR’S COLUMN
The appeal for the mold remediation project has been underway for about a month and many parishioners have taken up the challenge of addressing this unexpected expense
to the parish of nearly one half million dollars. It has been
an emotionally exhausting experience for many people, especially the students and faculty of the school, the PSR students and catechists, and many others who use the building
for sports and social activities. Everyone connected to
Queen of All Saints has been impacted by the discovery of
mold this summer and the process to clean and repair the
school and church hall. I can report to you that activity in
the buildings is back to the usual hectic pace that comes
with autumn. Now the parish must meet it financial responsibility of paying for the cost of remediation. Please use the
envelope marked “Mold Remediation Appeal” that will
appear in the contribution envelope packet beginning in
December. You may also donate a one-time gift or a
monthly gift through Faith Direct. Presently the Mold Remediation Committee is gathering information pertaining to
the HVAC system in the school building which has been
identified as the source of the mold problem. We will announce the projected expense as soon as we ascertain final
numbers. Unrelated expenses have simultaneously popped
in Limbach Hall and we are in the process of replacing the
boiler. It is estimated that replacing the old heating system
will take at least a month. Please bear with us as we work
through these issues. I am reminded of the axiom: when it
rains, it pours. Like Napoleon Bonaparte, we certainly have
met our Waterloo over the last six months. Thanks for
helping Queen of All Saints meet this challenge!
Monsignor Joseph Simon
MASS OF REMEMBRANCE—THANK YOU
A big “thank you” to all who shared their time and talent in
making the Mass of Remembrance a most-meaningful occasion for all the families who lost a loved one this past year.
This takes a team effort and we appreciate the GREAT
TEAM you are!
SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK
NEXT SUNDAY – NOON MASS
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated during the 12:00 noon Mass next Sunday, November 23.
EMERGENCY APPEAL FOR
REMEDIATION COVERAGE AND HVAC SYSTEMS
IN SCHOOL AND LIMBACH HALL
Queen of All Saints Parish is in need of immediate cash for
the cost of remediating the school and church hall and for
repairs to or replacement of HVAC units in the school and
Limbach Hall. The Finance Council is asking each family
to make a pledge payable over the next 9 months for these
expenses in addition to ordinary monthly or weekly contributions. A “Mold Remediation Appeal” envelope will
appear in the monthly envelope packet beginning in December. Donations may also be made through Faith Direct
(enroll at the parish office or online at Faith Direct; the
QAS parish code is MO86). The estimated expense for
remediation repairs in the school and the church hall exceeds $520,000. The repair or replacement of HVAC systems is unknown at this time. Once it is ascertained, it will
be announced. We appreciate your assistance in covering
these extraordinary expenses which obviously were not
known at the time the budget was prepared for this year.
CATHOLIC CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT

founded to end the cycle of poverty in the United States by
funding organizations that help people help themselves.
With the tradition of improving education, housing situations, and economic development CCHD continues to make
a positive impact on communities nationwide. Your contribution will defend human dignity and help those living on
the margins of our society. Please give to the CCHD Collection.

“Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful
over a little, I will set you over much…” (Matthew 25:21)
God expects us to nurture and develop the gifts He has given
us and then generously give back with increase. He doesn’t
want us to waste or hoard the gifts He has given us; He expects
us to grow our gifts, use them wisely and be generous with
them.

SUPPORT QUEEN OF ALL SAINTS SCHOOL BY
DONATING TO THE“TUITION ASSISTANCE FUND”
A monthly contribution to the Tuition Assistance Fund will
assist QAS in providing $35,956 in tuition grants to 16 school
families that were awarded tuition assistance for 2014-15.
Your donation provides financial assistance to those families
who have qualified for tuition assistance. Are you someone
looking for a way to assist a school family with their tuition? It’s a win-win decision, both for families desiring Catholic education for their children but facing difficulties paying for
tuition, and for donors who can assist these families through
tax-deductible contributions to the Tuition Assistance Fund
(the pink envelope in the monthly packet or through Faith Direct at www.faithdirect.net. The parish code for enrolling in
Faith Direct is MO86).
CHANGING FAITH DIRECT DONATION???
If you are increasing your weekly or monthly donation via
Faith Direct, please contact them at faithdirect.net, then your
e-mail address and password. Or perhaps you desire to increase your second collection (extra appeals) donation
amounts. New donors must use the church code for Queen of
All Saints, MO86 and follow the instructions. Also, if your
credit card number has changed, please notify Faith Direct of
the new card number.

ADVENT BLANKET MAKING –
HELP ‘WARM UP’ ST. LOUIS
Are you looking for a meaningful way to begin Advent
and get ready for this Christmas season? Before the craziness of shopping, preparations and parties start –
wouldn’t we all like to find a way to prepare our hearts
for the true meaning of Christmas?
Advent blanket-making began two years ago on the first
Sunday of Advent at QAS after hearing about a homeless
man who froze to death on our city’s streets. Since that
time, so far, QAS parishioners have come together and
hand-made over 70 fleece blankets that were then delivered to St. Patrick’s Center to help protect those in need
from the bitter winter cold. We are offering the opportunity again this year to start your Advent in an impactful
way. Sunday, November 30, from 2-4 p.m. the QAS
gym will be open to all who would like to participate
in this project. Entire families can work on their blanket
together, mothers and daughters, groups of friends, even
Girl Scout troops. And this is a great service activity for
eighth graders to do with their confirmation sponsors!
You can start looking now for your fleece at any fabric
store. Just purchase two pieces of fleece, 2 yards each,
one in a solid color and the other in a coordinating print
or both in solid colors. Bring the fleece, some good,
sharp scissors, a ruler if you have one, and possibly
something to cushion your knees as this is an on-thefloor project. We will show you a very easy way to make
a warm fleece blanket in about an hour. If you are unable
to come on November 30, you are welcome to make your
blanket on your own and drop it off at the Parish Office
where we will pick it up before delivering downtown – or
contact us to come pick it up from your house. If you
need to know how to make the blankets, please email
Mary at the address below. We will be happy to send the
instructions to you.
Let’s start this Advent season off with warm hearts,
knowing we will be helping others stay warm this winter!
To ensure we have adequate space and supplies, please
RSVP Mary at [email protected].
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have,
for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. Hebrews 13:16
INDOOR
PROGRAM

Prayer Group for Moms/Grandmas
Blood Facts...
Moms in Prayer is a group of moms who meet for one
hour each week to pray specifically for our children
(grandchildren), our schools, and our teachers. Please
consider joining us on Wednesday mornings, 9:00 - 10:00
a.m. Come and experience the joy of replacing anxiety
with peace and hope when you pray with other
moms. Feel free to join us every week, or, as your
schedule allows. Babies and toddlers welcome! For
more information, contact Jeannine Sinak, 293-0670 or
[email protected].
Blood is amazing stuff. Did you know that adults have
approximately 16 pints of blood in their body at any given time? One collection unit of blood is about 1 pint. It
takes roughly 4 hours for your body to replace a donated
pint of blood. In the US alone, 40,000 units of blood are
used each day. Only about 5% of healthy Americans donate blood. Multiple donations account for over 80% of
the blood used for transfusions. There is no substitute
for blood.
Youth Ministry
LIFE TEEN MASS AND LIFE NIGHTS
Starting in October, we added another youth Mass to each
month. The FIRST and THIRD Sundays of every month,
we will celebrate Life Teen Mass at Noon. Teens are invited to sit in the first couple of pews with the other teens. All
welcome!
Following the Life Teen Masses, the youth group will meet
for Life Nights (Creative nights on Catholic Teaching, Morality and Current Issues) from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. in the
Church or cafeteria. We will no longer meet immediately
following the noon Mass.
Thursday Night Prayer Group
You have the power to help other people you may not
even know. All it takes is for you to roll up your sleeve
and donate a pint of blood. Remember, blood can’t be
manufactured; it can only be given freely through the
compassionate generosity of donors. If you are at least
18 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in general
good health, please give the gift of life!

you.
Please join us for a positive, upbeat gathering to teach

cleaning or paper products with food stamps? That’s
where this group comes in. We will purchase those items
for little or no money and donate them to St. Vincent DePaul to take to families facing emergency situations. We
will also learn how to save money ourselves and restock
our own pantries.

3rd Tuesday of every month through May.

This single night collaboration uses the universal language of music to encourage people to participate.
Reflective and traditional songs will compliment selections from Michael's albums “Bring Forth the
Light” and “Always What I Need.”
Catholics can relate to Greg's stories, which weave
scripture through real life experiences. The examples from Greg's book “Where Faith & Real Life
Come Together...” will encourage the audience to
see how God is at work in everyday life. All of this is
highlighted by Greg's compelling witness, a story of
a spiritual awakening from that of a lapsed cradle
Catholic to a passionate Catholic speaker.
The evening will culminate with Michael and Greg
providing an opportunity for all ages to re-focus on
Christ and re-commit themselves to their Catholic
faith. Greg and Michael will encourage people to
enter into their own journey to “Bethlehem” to bring
Christ into this world every day.

Roses for the Unborn
A LOVING CHURCH
The Catholic Church has always spoken out strongly
against abortion, but, likewise, has always maintained a
tradition of love, understanding and forgiveness.
If you, or someone you know, has been touched by the
trauma of abortion, we want you to know that your
Church understands and cares about you. We want you
to know that we are willing to help you with the healing
process.
RECYCLING PAYS OFF
The holidays are nearing and get-togethers will
be many, please remember to recycle your aluminum and paper.
Recycling facts:
Recycling one ton of paper reduces the need for
17 trees.
Have you noticed the beautiful vase of roses
near the baptismal font? The red roses represent life......within us and among us. QAS
Respect Life Apostolate would like to honor
those who are expecting a child, as well as
families waiting to adopt, and publicly show our prayerful
encouragement for new life. Our goal is to grow a prayerful awareness of the many unborn children soon to join
our parish! We encourage the prayers of the entire parish
and look forward to welcoming these children into the
Catholic community at QAS.
If you are expecting a baby or are waiting to adopt a
child, please call Jeannine Sinak, 293-0670, to have a rose
placed in the vase. The rose will remain in church
throughout your pregnancy to symbolize the prayerful
support of the QAS community. After your child is born,
you are encouraged to take your rose, as a reminder of the
prayers offered for your child, even before he/she was
born.
When you see these roses in church, say a prayer for all
the unborn, especially those soon to be parishioners of
Queen of All Saints.
