INTRODUCTION TO THE LITURGY OF THE SUNDAY
Now is the time to respond to God and seize every grace-filled moment. God blesses us with opportunities
that can move us forward on the road to salvation. Let us open our minds and hearts so we are able to recognize
these moments of grace and take full advantage of them. Whenever we listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit within
us, it will be a time of spiritual growth that will keep our feet planted on the path that leads to eternal life.
In our first reading we hear that, through the preaching of Jonah, the Ninevites returned to God. In our second
reading, Saint Paul tells the Corinthians that they are to live in readiness to meet the Lord. The Gospel from
Saint Mark recounts how the first Apostles heeded the voice of Christ and responded immediately with their lives.

account. Many households are already familiar with such services
for charitable giving and for payment of various bills including
utilities, cable TV etc. Pre-authorized withdrawals will come out of your bank account once a
month, quarterly or yearly (depending on your choice). The destination of your gift and the
amount is decided upon by you. You can revise this whenever you wish by contacting the
parish office. You can cancel your authorization any time by contacting our parish office. For

ED & GWEN MEDING have been married for 39 years this February 2015; they have 5 children and 5
grandchildren. Ed and Gwen's desire is to evangelize and encourage others to grow in faith and draw
closer to Jesus. They do this through a monthly senior's song and scripture; Ed in prison ministry; and
Gwen with a ladies Bible study. They are both involved in the 'Live In and Get to Know Jesus' retreat
weekends. Together they have published a Rosary booklet with scripture and reflections. Ed is retired
after teaching school for 25 years and then working 7 years in loss prevention at a coal mine. He is
currently in the permanent diaconate study and formation program of the Archdiocese of Edmonton.
Gwen retired last year from her career as an X-ray technician. She is in the process of writing a bible
study for the weekly Sunday scripture readings.
