THE CHAPEL OF FOUR CHAPLAINS 2014-2015 National Student Scholarship Competition Application Guidelines POSTMARKED DEADLINE: February 28, 2015 WINNERS ANNOUNCED: March 30, 2015 TOPIC: UNDISCOVERED HEROES In memory of Hon. Barry Sax, one of our Board of Directors who passed away this year, the topic of the 20142015 Scholarship Competition will be "Undiscovered Heroes: Making sure they are recognized”. The Hon. Barry Sax dedicated his life to ensure that those who gave their lives for their country or their community are remembered. In doing so, he also recognized ordinary people for doing extraordinary things without asking for anything in return. His personal mission led us to a wonderful story about Charles W. David, Jr. who was assigned to one of the Coast Guard Cutters that rescued the survivors of the Dorchester. Charles W. David, Jr. ultimately gave his life while saving others. Students: Use your creativity to help tell the stories of individuals that you feel are "Undiscovered Heroes" either in your community or around the world. They can also be those who gave their lives while serving their country. Through Art, Photography, an Essay, or a YouTube Video, applicants should depict the life and/or service of one or more individuals within your community or within the nation whom you feel is an “Undiscovered Hero” in the spirit of the Four Chaplains and Charles W.
