SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Today we celebrate world Marriage Sunday. In the Jewish Faith, from which we came, the Talmud teaches that originally man and woman were created as a single being. According to tradition, Adam and Eve were created on the sixth day of creation as Siamese twins. God then separated the two, forming Eve from Adam's side. Thus, man and woman, i.e. husband and wife began as a single entity. Togetherness is their natural state. Their love stems from this natural tendency to be one. Prior to the marriage neither man nor woman is considered a complete entity. Marriage is the joining of the two halves - man and woman - into one complete wholesome being. This is a beautiful concept and brings the reality of marriage to a new light to consider. Take this concept and meditate on it, and apply it to your marriage if you are married or your future marriage if you are dating or hope to marry someday. This concept will help you live more in total and intense love for your spouse, as you consider that when you are not kind or loving or maybe even mean to your spouse, you are not kind or loving to yourself, your other half. When you treat your spouse with the utmost love and care, you are treating yourself that same way. We too, as Christians believe that, in a mysterious way, at a marriage, two become one, yet two distinct parts. Celebrate World Marriage Day by being kind and loving to yourself and by being kind and loving to your spouse. Ash Wednesday The Schedule will be 7:15AM Mass, 9:30AM Mass, 12:30PM Liturgy of the Word with Ashes, 4:45PM Liturgy of the Word with Ashes, and 7:00PM Mass with combined choirs. Polish Ethnic Night Plans are being made for a Polish Polka night on March 21. Preliminary plans are for the polka band to play for the 5:00PM Mass followed by a dinner/dance in the Lourdes Center. Please watch the bulletin for further information. Handicapped Parking Recently parking has been more difficult again and especially for the handicapped. Please be mindful not to block cars in the handicapped spots. As well, do not block the lanes in the parking lot. In the near future we will be adding ‘6’ Handicapped Parking spots. Sisters of St. Joseph Lenten Calendar Jesus called his followers to the three practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. During Lent these cherished practices help us to grow closer to God and to one another. This Lent, we invite you to journey day-by-day with our “dear neighbors” in Haiti. The 2015 Sisters of St. Joseph Lenten Calendar is designed to create public awareness of the critical need to educate girls in Haiti and raise funds for this effort. Following the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010, the Sisters of St. Joseph in the United States and Canada pledged to help rebuild the country through a commitment to the education of girls. With your help, our Lenten Calendar project last year generated $10,586.52 that was directed toward the education of 10 girls, the certification of six teachers and the construction of a new secondary school in Leogane, Haiti. Visit www.bit.ly/2015LentenCalendar to print a calendar. Wondering about Annulments? Each year the Diocese has a presentation for anyone who has wondered about seeking an annulment.
