The KKC
Kandaswami Kandar's College, a government aided first
grade private College affiliated to Periyar University, was
established in 1962 and situated in the bank of Cauvery at
Paramathi Velur, Namakkal District. The college provides an ideal
atmosphere for higher education to all sections of the society. The
college offers 15 UG and 14 PG courses and has research facilities
in 15 departments. The college has student strength of 2500.
Teaching faculty consists of 70 regular staff and 85 management
staff.
The College celebrated its Golden Jubilee during the year
2013 in a grand manner. The college was awarded the coveted B
Grade status by NAAC.
Vision of our college is Charity, Devotion and Knowledge. The
mission of our college is to make the institution a world class, highly
acclaimed, innovative, competitive and most successful Higher
Education Institution. The scope extends well beyond the Academic
Excellence towards making better citizens tomorrows.
The institution is dedicated to the cause of higher education
and has produced many administrators, academicians, scientists,
social workers, intellectuals, computer professionals and eminent
personalities in different walks of life
The Department of Economics
The UG Department of Economics was started in the founding
year itself. It became PG Department in 1978 and Research
Department in 1980. The department offers B.A., M.A., M.Phil.,
and Ph.D., programmes in Economics. From the commencement of
Periyar University the department produces university gold medal
every year. Further with enhanced teaching faculties the
department enthralls to illuminate the path of success towards
excellence.
The Seminar
Rapid urbanisation has resulted in poor quality of life in the
urban cities. The challenges of urbanisation are truly enormous. At
present urbanisation is considered as a positive and supportive
force tor the country's economic and social development. Hence,
special attention and brief discussions should be given for the
policies related with the urbanisation to increase the accessibility
of the urban poor towards the amenities and other positive benefits
of the urbanisation. In order to identify the sustainable way to
accelerate it in the interest of the people and government it is
important to make discussions among the academicians and
researchers through seminars.
The proposed seminar will be undertaken by the researcher
based on the causes and impacts of urbanisation in India. Rapid
urbanisation leads to both positive and negative impacts in many
fields. Thus present seminar will provide window to reduce the
negative effects and increase the positive benefits of urbanisation
in India.
Objectives of the Seminar
Kandaswami Kandar's College and Association of
Economists of Tamilnadu have jointly organized UGC sponsored
National Seminar to achieve the following objectives
v
To analyse the Environmental impact of urbanisation in India
To discuss the Economic impact of urbanisation in India
v
To discuss the Social perspective of urbanisation in India
v
To study the rural urban migration in India.
v
To understand the causes and consequences of urbanisation.
v
Call for Papers
In the context of the above mentioned objectives, this
national seminar calls for conceptual and research papers from the
agricultural economists, academicians, scholars and students in
any of the following areas. We also welcome the interested faculty
members and students to participate in the seminar.
Track-1 Environmental impact of urbanisation in India
Track-2 Economic impact of urbanisation in India
Track-3 Social perspective of urbanisation in India
Track-4 Rural urban migration in India.
Track-5 Causes and consequences of urbanisation.
Guidelines for full Paper submission
Title Page; Title, Full name of the author(s), designation,
Affiliation, Contact Detail and Track Number. Full paper must
include, Research objectives, methodology, major findings,
implication, at least three keywords, and key references.
Manuscript must be in English, Prepared using Microsoft Office
Word Type written on one side of white paper, 2.54 inch margin on
all sides 1.5 line space, Font-Times New Roman, Size : 12 points,
headings in bold letters Figures, tables and charts must be original
and not scanned Copy

unpublished/not presented before
The full paper must not exceed 7 pages.
The author and co-author(s) should register separately.
All the papers will be put in a blind review process
Papers must be presented either by the author or co-author
All selected papers will be published in Edited Book Volume
with ISBN number. Authors should pay Rs.500/- separately.
The use of email is encouraged for all correspondence

REGISTRATION
Duly filled in Registration form along with Registration Fee
in a Single Demand Draft should be sent to the seminar
organising secretary. The DD should be drawn in favour of
Dr. A. Shanmugasundaram, payable at Velur. Photocopies of
the registration form can be used for more requirements.
Research scholors / students : Rs. 100/Academicians / Faculty Members - Rs. 250/The registration fee includes lunch, refreshment, and seminar
proceedings. The certificate, Fee receipt and Attendance
certificate will be issued only at the venue on the day of Seminar.
The participants are requested to make their own arrangements for
accommodation. The selected papers will be published with ISBN
number.
