District Tournament Will Feature Two Championship Rounds Friday, Remainder Saturday
The time schedule for this Friday and Saturday’s, March 6 and 7 ‘2015 O.H.S.A.A. DII East/Central District
Championship Tournament’ at Heath High School in Heath, Ohio will feature the championship round of 16 and
the championship quarterfinals Friday, with the championship semifinals, finals, and consolation rounds all taking
place Saturday.
The approximate starting time for each round is as follows:
FRIDAY, MARCH 6
Championship Round of 16 – 4:00 p.m.
Championship Quarterfinals – 7:30 p.m.
SATURDAY, MARCH 7
Consolation First Round – 9:00 a.m.
Consolation Second Round – 11:00 a.m.

Districts Last Step To State, And It Will Be A Tough Step
For West Holmes High School varsity wrestlers Cole Woods, Ashton Eyler, Thane Kaufman and Damon Harris, this Friday
and Saturday’s, March 6 and 7 ‘2015 O.H.S.A.A. DII East/Central District Championship Tournament’ at Heath High School
in Heath, Ohio is the last step to reaching the holy grail of Ohio high school wrestling – the state tournament.
Needing a top-four placement at districts to advance to the ‘Big Dance’, the Knights four-some knows it won’t be easy and
they’ll have to be at the top of their game to get out of what is going to be a meat grinder of a district tournament.
Woods (Jr., 126 lbs., 38 - 3), the 2014 O.H.S.A.A. DII 120 lbs. state runner-up for the Knights and runner-up at the Claymont
sectional, squares off in the first round of the district tournament with Josh Parker (Soph., Sunbury Big Walnut, 8 – 21), the
third-place finisher at the Newark Licking Valley sectional. A win would then put Woods into the quarterfinals against the
winner of the Eli Ayoub (Sr., Plain City Jonathan Alder, 33 – 1) or Nevan Shedron (Jr., Zoarville Tuscarawas Valley, 22 –
19) first round match-up. Ayoub was the sectional champion at Columbus Whitehall-Yearling while Shedron placed fourth at
the Lisbon Beaver Local sectional.
Knights freshman Eyler (138 lbs., 35 – 7) drew Charles Bartz (Jr., Dover, 34 – 9, 3rd at Beaver Local sectional) for his first
round opponent. With a win by Eyler, runner-up at the Claymont sectional, he would then get the winner of the bout between
Jake Martinez (Soph., Newark Licking Valley, 39 – 2), champion at the Licking Valley sectional or Devin Hopkins (Jr.,
Caledonia River Valley, 31 – 17), who placed fourth at the Whitehall-Yearling sectional.
Kaufman (Fr., 106 lbs., 22 – 13, 3rd at the Claymont sectional) faces Quinton Bookman (Soph., Lisbon Beaver Local, 30 – 9,
runner-up at Beaver Local sectional) for his first round opponent. With a victory, Kaufman would then see the victor of the
Addison Fogle (Fr., Newark Licking Valley, 44 – 6), champion at the Licking Valley sectional, versus Amadi Bakari (Soph.,
Columbus West, 17 – 15, 4th at Whitehall-Yearling sectional) match.
Junior Damon Harris (285 lbs., 29 – 14, 4th at Claymont sectional) faces Licking Valley sectional champion Jaqui Vanmeter
(Jr., Newark Licking Valley, 48 – 4) for his first round opponent. Harris and Vanmeter (returning state qualifier) met at the
Bobcats Invitational at Cambridge High School in the season opener with Vanmeter winning by fall. If Harris can turn the
tables on Vanmeter, he will get the winner of the Jacob Packwood (Sr., Carroll Bloom-Carroll. 28 – 7, runner-up at
Whitehall-Yearling sectional) versus Mike Woodburn (Jr., Lisbon Beaver Local, 12 – 17, 3rd at Beaver Local sectional)
match-up.
Wrestling begins at 4:00 p.m. Friday and resumes Saturday at 9:00 a.m.

Weber Just Misses O.A.C. State Qualifier Spot
West Holmes Middle School wrestler Kendel Weber (7th Grade) just missed out on a state tournament qualifying spot with a
7th-place finish at 78 lbs. Sunday, March 1 at the ‘2015 Ohio Athletic Committee Junior High State Tournament District
Qualifier’ held at Steubenville High School in Steubenville, Ohio.
Weber opened his tournament with a fall win at 1:00, but then dropped into the consolation rounds after losing a 6 – 2
decision in the quarterfinals. After a bye, Weber needed a win in the consolation semifinals to cement a state tournament
berth but lost by a 6 – 0 decision. Wrestling in the 7th-place match, Weber earned a state alternate slot after his 4 – 2 decision
win.

Rohskopf To Battle In A.C.C. Championship’s Sunday
2013 Knights graduate Max Rohskopf (Soph., North Carolina State University), a three-time state placer for the Knights (3rd
in 2013, 7th in 2012 and 2011) and a four-time state qualifier, will get back on the mats Sunday, March 8 when the No. 17
ranked Wolfpack battle in the ‘2015 Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestling Championship Tournament’ being held at the
University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Rohskopf, ranked as high as No. 15 in the NCAA DI 165 lbs. polls, finished his regular season with a 23 – 12 record.
