LODGING
The Department has worked with hotels near the Convention Center hold state-rate rooms for
participants. For a list of these hotels and rates, click here. Districts/schools should book hotel rooms for
their participants as soon as possible to reduce the risk that hotel rooms near the Convention Center fill
up before you are able to book.
REGISTRATION
Registration
Registration opens March 25th and will close Friday, April 24th. Each district/school point of contact will
be provided with a unique registration code and will be responsible for determining the plan to make
sure their Teacher Leaders are registered in Coursewhere by April 24th. Please contact your
district/school Teacher Leader point of contact if you are interested in attending this event.
Recommended Summit Attendance
Over 5,000 Louisiana Educators are invited to join us at the Teacher Leader Summit. It is up to districts
and schools to decide whom they want to send. Sessions will focus primarily on math and ELA
instruction. The summit will also host a smaller number of sessions on Early Childhood Education, social
studies, science, and a variety of topics related to school and district administrators. Therefore, the
Department recommends that districts/schools send a combination of the following educators:
• ELA teacher (1 per school)
• Math teacher (1 per school)
• Early childhood OR social studies teacher (1 per school)
• School leadership (i.e. principal, AP, instructional coach, etc.) (1 per 2-3 schools)
• District leadership (i.e. curriculum coach, chief academic officer, etc.) (1 per 4 schools)
Districts/schools are assigned a certain number of spots depending on their size. To find out how many
spots your school/district has been assigned, click here.
Email [email protected] if you would like help deciding whom to register for this event.
Registering Additional Teacher Leaders
The Department’s goal is to ensure that as many educators as possible can attend the Teacher Leader
Summit. Please email [email protected] if you would like to send additional Teacher
Leaders to the Summit. Though the Department cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate
your request, we will do our best to reallocate spots from districts and schools who do not plan to send
as many Teacher Leaders. This reallocation will take place in late April.
Registering Fewer Teacher Leaders
Please email [email protected] immediately if you know you do not plan to use all of your
Teacher Leader spots. There are some schools and districts who would like to send additional Teacher
Leaders, and knowing that you do not plan to send as many people helps us reallocate those spots to
schools and districts who want them.

SESSIONS
The 2015 Teacher Leader Summit will offer over 150 sessions covering a variety of topics related to
helping educators set goals, plan for instruction, execute high-quality lessons, assess student results,
and use data to improve student and teacher performance. The majority of sessions will focus on ELA
and math instruction, but the Department will also offer a smaller number of sessions covering Early
Childhood Education (ECE), social studies, science and an assortment of topics related to school and
district administrators.
Participants will have the opportunity to attend up to six sessions– three on Thursday, June 4 and three
on Friday, June 5. Click here for the tentative agenda.
Sessions will be led by a variety of content experts including but not limited to:
• The Louisiana Department of Education
• The Cain Center
• Eureka Math
• Louisiana Teacher Leaders and Teacher Leader Advisors
• District staff
• Professors from the College of Education at Louisiana Tech University
• Laying the Foundation through the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI)
• Vermont Writing Collaborative
The Department will release a list of sessions that will be offered at the Summit to district/school
Teacher Leader points of contact and in the March 31 district newsletter.
VISITORS WITH DISABILITIES AND LIMITED MOBILITY
The Teacher Leader Summit will take place in Halls H, I and J of the Morial Convention Center. It is
approximately a 0.4-mile walk from Hall H to Hall J.
The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center is ADA compliant. The Convention Center provides
service ramps to entrances and elevated areas, an array of passenger elevators, restroom facilities for
the disabled, brailed instructions and directions at strategic locations throughout the building, and pay
phones located at each level of the facility with (TDD) hearing-impaired functions. Wheelchairs also are
available upon request.
Participants with limited mobility are encouraged to consider renting a scooter. For more information
about scooter rentals, please call the Convention Center UPS store at 504-670-8941. Scooters must be
reserved at least 72 hours in advance, but the Department strongly recommends that participants book
two weeks in advance given limited supply. The Department is not responsible booking or covering the
cost of scooter rentals. The Department is not liable for scooters rented by Teacher Leader Summit
participants.
