With a fresh take on ballet and a renewed vitality, Oregon Ballet Theatre kicks off the 201415 season with a powerhouse program: OBT 25. Audiences can look forward to the return of George Balanchine’s masterwork, Agon, for the first time in over a decade. This pivotal work of 20th century modernism is one of the most thrilling athletic contests you will ever see. It’s a big anniversary, and Oregon Ballet Theatre celebrates it with work on the theme of love by three choreographers that shaped the Ballet’s first 25 years: 25TH Christopher Stowell, Trey McIntyre and James Canfield, whose work returns to our stage for the first time since 2003. In the thrilling capstone of this program, Portland favorite Nicolo Fonte creates a new work for the company, accompanied live by one of Portland’s most loved ensembles in a show that everyone will be talking about. No holiday season is complete without experiencing the magic of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker. Follow little Marie’s larger-thanlife adventure, where toys come valiantly to the rescue and snowflakes twirl and leap, guiding unexpected heroes into a land filled with dazzling confections. This year, the Ballet offers three shows after Christmas to make it even easier to share the magic of The Nutcracker with your friends and family. In February 2014, Oregon Ballet Theatre unveils its first ever production of the beloved Cinderella. Get swept up in the romance of this timeless fairy tale when a handsome prince, a fairy godmother, one missing glass slipper, and a little magic help make dreams come true for a very deserving young girl. Set to Prokofiev’s opulent score, Ben Stevenson’s colorful full-length version is one of the ballet world’s most popular — the Cinderella you’ve been waiting for! In the sensational final offering in this year of celebration, the focus is on IMPACT and community. The launch of OBT 2, with choreography by Oregon Ballet Theatre’s first Resident Choreographer, Dennis Spaight, is a gesture of appreciation to the community in recognition of 25 wonderful years. A powerful new work joins the repertory — Rassemblement by Nacho Duato, whose Por Vos Muero last season made a huge impression on Portland audiences. Finally, a new voice is unveiled to Portland, that of Darrell Grand Moultrie, the rare choreographer who can bridge the worlds of Beyoncé and the artists of Oregon Ballet Theatre. Oregon Ballet Theatre’s 25th anniversary season offers inspiration, imagination, and breathtaking displays of athleticism. Don’t miss this banner year of celebration with Portland’s ballet company. Then it's time to take advantage of Artslandia sponsored content. In each issue, Artslandia sets aside some space for sponsored stories—meaning articles created or dictated by our advertising partners (that's you!) rather than by our editorial staff. Sponsored stories look and read just like our other stories, with excellent grammar and appealing fonts, layout, and imagery, but they're sourced from and attributed to our partners rather than Artslandia. Artslandia's space for sponsored content is very limited and available for purchase on a first-comefirst-served basis. If you think you'll want to publish sponsored content in an Artslandia bimonthly at any time this year, it's best to act now to reserve your space. We're accepting reservations now for four styles of sponsored stories: DRAMATIC DISH DRAMATIC DISH.........................................................................................................................................$2550 a one-page restaurant/recipe feature with chef and food photos Q+A...............................................................................................................................................................................$4000 a two- to three-page interview feature focused on one prominent arts person with one photo HOW TO/GUIDE TO..................................................................................................................................$3000 a two-page instructional or informative spread with graphics or pictures Q+A ARTS AMBASSADOR............................................................................................................................$1750 a 400-word essay by a prominent arts administrator on an arts-related topic ONLINE ONLY ARTICLE......................................................................................................................$1000 a 700-word essay on chosen subject Your purchase of sponsored content avails you of Artslandia's expert layout and copy-editing services and entitles you to final approval of a proof, with the understanding that you'll provide the story's text and images. If you request additional writing and image-processing services from Artslandia during story development, there may be additional fees. In either case, your organization's byline rather than Artslandia's will appear with the published piece. CALL 503.922.2110 OR EMAIL [email protected] FOR MORE INFORMATION.
