Welcome Shooters, Family and Friends,
The ASTA Board of Directors invites you to join us for the 2015 Arizona State Trapshooting Championships. We have a great program planned - trophies and added
monies for residents and non-residents, reduced fees for ALL Sub Junior and
Junior shooters and the excellent venue the Tucson Trap & Skeet Club offers. We are
very fortunate and happy to offer the $10,000 Martin Multiple Lewis Challenge, compliments of Bill and Lee Ann Martin.
In appreciation of your loyal support throughout the Winter Chain, the ASTA has donated funds to the Tucson Trap & Skeet Club to provide lower entry fees for participants.
Shooters and families are invited to join us for a complimentary steak dinner Saturday
evening, again, to show our appreciation to YOU for making Arizona the best place to
shoot in the country!
A reminder that starting Wednesday ALL events are eligible for All American points
and the ASTA will be providing trophies in all events so points can be awarded.
A very special thank you to our advertisers and those who have donated special
awards for this tournament - your continued support is greatly appreciated.
Lastly, thanks to the entire Tucson Trap & Skeet staff for their hard work and ongoing efforts to provide you with a great tournament. Please let us know if there is anything

classification. The Arizona ATA Delegate is in charge of the classification
committee and all decisions made by this committee are final.
Singles
AA—97% and over
A—94% and under 97%
B—91% and under 94%
C—88% and under 91%
D—under 88%
Doubles
AA—93% and over
A—89% and under 93%
B—85% and under 89%
C—78% and under 85%
D—under 78%
Shooters who do not have the minimum number of ATA registered targets listed below will be classified as follows:
lA
combined total of 1,000 16 - yard targets in the current and previous target year, no less than Class B.
lA combined total of 1,000 handicap targets in the current and previous target year, no less than 23 yards, or their assigned yardage,
whichever is greater.
lA combined total of 500 doubles targets in the current and previous
target year no less than Class B.
lJuniors
and Sub Juniors not meeting the above handicap requirements
will be classified at no less than 20 yards, or their assigned yardage,
whichever is greater.
If you wish to declare a Special Category, it must be made at the time of
classification/entry. Only one (1) Special Category may be declared.
(Chair Shooters are exempt from this rule). Without such declaration, a shooter
will not be allowed to compete for the applicable category trophy.
No contestant will be allowed to declare or change a special category
declaration after firing his/her first shot. The only exception to this rule
would be to correct an ATA classification error. After cashiering, check
your entry receipt and the bulletin board to ensure you have been classified correctly.
8
CLASSIFICATION (continued)
There will be no class advancements for this shoot. Any shooter earning
yardage in any handicap event must report to Classification to have
their average card punched to the new yardage prior to shooting the
next handicap event. Any shooter whose yardage is changed for any
reason shall be considered to be notified when the new class or
yardage is posted on the bulletin board.
TROPHIES
Arizona residents must have been a bona fide resident of the State of
Arizona for six (6) months prior to March 24 in order to compete for
resident ATA and ASTA trophies. Proof of residency may be required.
Trophies are awarded to Residents and Non Residents. A shooter may
only win one (1) trophy per any event.
Special Category Trophy Rules
1. A Chair Shooter whose score qualifies for more than one (1) trophy
must notify shoot management as to which trophy he/she desires to
accept or shoot for. The shooter must make his/her declaration 15 minutes after the scores for each EVENT are posted and before entering
into any shoot-off/carry-over. If the shooter fails to make a declaration
within the specified time, shoot management shall assign “Chair” as the
choice.
2. Any shooter who has declared a special category at the time of classification and who is tied for Event Champion may shoot-off/carry-over
for the Championship trophy. If a shooter fails in the championship trophy shoot-off/carry-over, the shooter will fall back to the declared special category.
3. Any shooter who has declared a special category at the time of classification and whose score qualifies for any trophy in his/her declared
category, will compete for the category trophy and not for place, class
or yardage group. If there is no Event Champion trophy, a declared category shooter will take the category trophy and may not fall back to the
class trophy.
4. Any special category shooter who score does not qualify for a trophy
in his/her category, may compete for place, class or yardage group trophies.
9

State Team & Rookie Target Requirements
Shooters must have registered a minimum number of targets in each discipline as listed below to be eligible for State Teams and Rookie of the Year. For
State Team placement, shooters with the highest composite averages (S/H/D) in
each category are selected. If a shooters’ category changes during the target
year, the category in which the shooter shot the longest period of time will determine the category for team placement.
The Delegate’s “Rookie of the Year” Award is open to shooters joining the ATA
for the first time in the 2014 Target Year (September 1, 2013 - August 31, 2014)
who have registered the required minimum number of targets. The Rookie with
the highest composite average for the target year will receive the award. The

“Where it’s cool to shoot”
Good Luck to All Shooters
competing at the
2015 Arizona State Shoot!
Come visit us this summer to shoot, enjoy the cool
weather, and take in the beauty of northern Arizona
NASR has Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, a Five-Stand venue
and rifle and pistol ranges. The range is open every
weekend and a great place to shoot in northern Arizona.
Hours of operation are Saturday 9am to 3pm and Sunday
11am to 3pm.
For more information about upcoming events or possible
closures, please visit our website or call our hotline at
928-221-1671.
To get to the range take I-40 east to the Winona exit. Then head south on County Road 82,
take a right at Forest Road 128 and follow that to a left turn at the 128A road, which takes
you directly to the range. If you are interested in checking out the range, keep in mind the
roads to the range are dirt roads and can be rough at times. Signs for the range are posted
along the way.

Arizona Trapshooting Trivia
Early records reflect that organized trapshooting took place within Arizona
prior to Statehood, dating back to 1912 and indicate the first State Tournament occurred in 1914 and continued yearly until 1932.
No records of tournaments exist between 1933 and 1948, however, in 1949
shooters reorganized to conduct an annual State Tournament which was held
at the Tucson Trap & Skeet Club. In the February 1949 issue of the Sportsmen’s
Review, they featured the “First Annual Arizona State Trap Shoot” citing
“many shooters from 19 different states were in attendance.” The article went
on to say “some 25 years ago, Arizona held regular state shoots with large attendance, but the old timers have gone.”
In June 1971, the Arizona State Trapshooting Association was incorporated and
By-Laws adopted.
