Neighbourhood Plan
The consultations on the Neighbourhood Plan
have been completed and any amendments
to the draft plan made.
The result of the Inspector’s examination of
Swindon Borough Council’s Local Plan 2026
has also been received and the allocation of
houses for Wroughton has remained
unchanged.
The final Neighbourhood Plan will now be
approved by the Parish Council at their
meeting on 16 March 2015.
The Neighbourhood Plan will then be
submitted to Swindon Borough Council.
This will be followed by an Independent
Examination and the final part of the process
will be a referendum.
We have no idea, at this point, when the
referendum will take place. As soon as we
have this information we will encourage all
residents to take part and approve the
Neighbourhood Plan.
The Neighbourhood Plan is a very important
document in setting out how the parish will
develop over the next 11 years.
PLAY AREA
at
ALEXANDRA PARK
The transfer of ownership of the play area at
Alexandra Park to the Parish Council is
imminent.
It has taken a long time to sort out the legal
problems, but the Parish Council is pleased that
these have now been resolved and the transfer
will take place.

RED PHONE BOXES
The Parish Council are going to
adopt 3 red telephone
boxes in the village.
They are located at Swindon Road,
Kellsboro Avenue and Kennet Road.
The telephone boxes have been neglected
and are in need of some attention.
They are a part of the heritage of the village
and the Parish Council decided that they
should be preserved.
The Parish Council would welcome
suggestions for their future use.

THURSDAY 7 MAY 2015
The Parish Council has been told at one of
the Flood Meetings that the public can clear
gullies themselves where they see one
blocked or there is potential for there to be
problems in the future.
The Parish Council has drawn up new plans for
improved sports facilities at Maunsell Way.
Following the first consultation they have been
changed to address the public’s concerns.
There will be an informal open drop-in session
from 5.30pm to 7.00pm.
This will be followed by a meeting at 7.00pm.
Councillors will be available to answer
questions at the drop-in session as well as the
meeting.
We hope that the public will come along and let
us know what they think about the new plans.
Details will be available from the Parish office
and on our website if you are unable to attend.
Please send your comments to the Clerk
(details on the back of this leaflet).
the same day as the General Election and
Ward Councillor election for
Swindon Borough Council.
There are 15 seats on the Parish Council
to be filled.
We would like to encourage the public to stand
for these elections.
If you are interested in your local community
and would like to play a part in protecting and
shaping it for the future, then this is your
opportunity.
There are a few criteria you must meet to
become a Councillor.
The Parish Council is committed to providing
better sports facilities in the parish.
If you would like to find out more about what is
involved, please contact the Clerk or one of
your existing Councillors. Their contact details
are on our website and our noticeboards.
DOG MESS
There seems to be a spate of dog mess
around the village at the moment.
If more than 15 people stand, then there will
be an election. Otherwise, all those people
that put their name forward will be
automatically elected.
The Parish Council has 38 dog bins in the
parish, so there is no excuse for not using
them.
Application packs are available from the
Parish Office or Swindon Borough Council
If you encounter dog mess, please report it
to StreetSmart on 01793 445501.
The closing date for applications is
Thursday 9 April 2015.
Please take care if you decide to do this
work, as most gullies are close to roads.
If you see a blocked gully, please report it to
StreetSmart on 01793 445501.
CCTV Cameras
Last summer some youths decided to drag
the dragonfly sculpture into the Moat Pond.
Following this incident, the Parish Council
borrowed a CCTV camera from Swindon
Borough Council which proved successful in
preventing anti-social behaviour.
The Parish Council has now purchased their
own CCTV cameras. These are located at
the Moat Pond, Willow Brook Gardens,
Maunsell Way and the Weir Field.
There is also a spare camera which will be
used around the village to target
problem areas as needed.
