The Nature Conservancy in New Jersey is seeking a Coastal Resilience Coordinator to lead the advancement of its coastal resilience efforts, which is focused on working with communities and partners to improve the health and function of New Jersey’s coastal habitats so they are better able to persist in the face of coastal hazards. Primary responsibilities of the Coastal Resilience Coordinator include outreach with coastal communities to develop coastal restoration and enhancement projects; working with TNC staff and external partners on the development of the New Jersey chapter’s Coastal Resilience on-line decision support tool (www.coastalresilience.org); identifying funding opportunities for the implementation of coastal restoration and enhancement projects; and developing community outreach materials regarding the Coastal Resilience Tool. Successful candidates are experienced in establishing and building relationships with local officials, community leaders and partner organizations, as well as effectively managing multiple tasks and projects with minimal supervision.. The position is currently a one year term position starting July 1, 2015, with the potential for extension should additional funding be secured. It is located in Delmont, NJ. Minimum Qualifications BA/BS and 3 years of experience in coastal resource restoration, natural resource management, applied coastal/marine sciences, environmental studies, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience leading projects. Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, web browsers, etc. Must have valid driver's license. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience Advanced degree in coastal resource restoration, applied coastal/marine sciences, environmental studies, or related field. Demonstrated experience communicating with the public both in writing and verbally. Demonstrated experience in initiating and maintaining partnerships with local officials, non-profits, government agencies and private landowners. Experience using and applying GIS applications. Familiarity with and appreciation of NJ coastal communities and related environmental issues. Knowledge of relevant funding sources and experience in applying for and managing grants. Ability and willingness to apply science to decision-making and guide activities. Completing tasks independently with respect to timeline(s). Excellent communication skills via written, spoken and graphical means in English and other relevant languages.
