Re:
End of Year 8th Grade Celebrations
We are very proud of our 8th graders and their accomplishments. With the help and
support of our Parent Club, we are pleased to announce the following activities for
eligible 8th grade students:
8th Grade Dance
The Parent Club is sponsoring our annual 8th Grade Dance from 6:30 – 8:30 pm on
Monday June 1 and it will be held in the cafeteria. This special evening will include
music, dancing, games, and finger foods. The cost will be $5 per student.
Students need to stay within the dress code rules. If they are unsure of the article of
clothing – have them bring a picture in to Mrs. Ward. If you need further clarification,
please contact Mrs. Ward.
Girls: Dresses/outfits may not show cleavage or show any other inappropriate areas of
skin, should not be strapless, may not be immodest in the back, should not have a length
higher than 4" above the knee, should not have slits more than 4" above the knee, or
have any other immodest features.
Guys: No tuxedos, no blue jeans (dress jeans acceptable), shirts should be tucked into
pants appropriately, pants should not be sagging but fit securely around the waist,
undergarments should not be visible, no shorts are allowed, or any other inappropriate
articles of clothing.
In order to make this evening affordable for all 8th graders, we request no limousines.
Parents are invited to help chaperone and/or stop by for pictures. The cost is $5.00 for
students and no charge for parents. Only 8th grade CENMS students may attend.
Important Note: Pick up time is 8:30 pm. ALL STUDENTS MUST LEAVE WITH
THEIR PARENT.
8th Grade Awards Night
On Tuesday June 2 at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria we will have the 8th Grade Awards
Ceremony. If your student will be receiving an award at this event, we will mail you an
invitation. All 8th graders and their parents are welcome to attend.
8th Grade Celebration Luncheon
This year the 8th Grade Celebration Luncheon will be at 1:00 pm on the last day of
school – June 3rd. This Luncheon is for 8th graders and their parents only. No brothers
or sisters are allowed due to space restrictions. The cost for the Luncheon is $5.00 for
each parent. There is no charge for students. While we do have room for all of our 8th
graders, there are only a limited number of tickets available for parents, so they will be
sold on a first come, first served basis. We can only sell 150 tickets due to fire safety
regulations in our cafeteria.
Tickets
Tickets for all 8 grade events will go on sale Monday, May 11th. The sale will end
Friday, May 22th. The permission slips on the attached page must be submitted
when the student purchases their ticket(s). Students will be given the opportunity to
purchase their tickets during lunches only. Please make checks payable to Centennial
Middle School.

If you are paying by check you may write one check for both the dance and
luncheon. If you are writing a check please make the check payable to
Centennial Middle School and make sure that the check contains the full name,
current street address (no p.o. boxes), name and address must be “pre-printed”
on your check (no starter or temporary checks), home or cell phone number
with area code, driver’s license number with state.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Please remind your students of appropriate behavior for the last few weeks of school and
for these special events. Students who receive ISS or OSS during the months of May or
June may not be eligible to participate in year-end activities, and suspensions do carry
over to the next year, even if the student is starting high school.
Parents may sign their students out at the end of the Luncheon if they desire. (NOTE:
Students may only be checked out by their parents – no exceptions.)
