cause anxiety or non-attendance.
Fully interactive, step-by-step, visual story inspired by the successful Social Story ™ concept
Includes editing options that enable children to upload their own content
Includes a library of circus footage and images from the show the
child will see
Offers pre-circus preparation as well as post-circus recall and

“For 28 years our touring circus of world class artists
has mesmerised thousands of disadvantaged,
disabled and vulnerable children.
We pride ourselves on creating a ‘relaxed
performance’ environment where parents know that
their child’s behaviour won’t be an issue, meaning
the whole family can sit back and enjoy a shared
social experience.
Combining our experience with the technologies
now available to make live performance even more
inclusive for children with autism was, for us, the
next logical step.” Neville Wilson, Director, Circus Starr
“The sight of her … will stay with me always, she was so
relaxed and completely carefree which we do not often see.”
The app is free, practical and transferable to other arts organisations and
provides the blueprint for an infinite range of support tools that would allow
children and adults with autism to access and enjoy the arts in a way that has
not been possible until now.
Circus Starr is currently seeking further funding to produce a version for
android devices. and to broaden its reach across the arts.
Show and Tell has been produced by charitable arts organisation Circus Starr in
collaboration with Dr Tracy Piper-Wright (University of Chester), technical partner Therapy
Box, in association with the National Autistic Society. Supported by the Digital R&D Fund
for the Arts – Nesta, Arts & Humanities Research Council and public funding by the
National Lottery through Arts Council England.
