Not Big Data, but More Data: Analytics of the Future
The role of business analytics has constantly changed with technology innovation. What
was once unthinkable is now becoming table stakes, analytics that used to take days
are now “run on demand” in seconds. Despite all this change in capability, the role of the
analyst has remained largely the same. They are trying to figure out how to be relevant
and timely with customers to drive more opportunity and revenue. You will hear how the
adoption of new data, tools, and applications have allowed companies to take better
advantage of their data to connect with customers and suppliers.
Rob Armstrong, Analytics Evangelist, Teradata Corp., San Diego, CA
1:30- 2:15 p.m.
Analysis of Self-Reported Health Outcomes Data from WebBased Media Sources
There is a great deal of interest in the application of real-world evidence and outcomes
data to support and enhance a number of key activities in patient safety. An everincreasing number of individuals routinely contribute and consume solicited and
unsolicited information about a variety of health related issues using a wide range of
internet and social media channels. Adoption of this data as a resource is hampered
by concerns related to the accuracy and reliability of data. We believe that the ability to
collect and evaluate this data for veracity would provide a benefit to public health and
safety and ultimately contribute to improving healthcare outcomes.
Mark Wolff, Ph.D., Principal Industry Consultant, Health & Life Sciences Global
Practice, SAS Institute, Cary, NC
2:15- 2:30 p.m.

Using Data for Decision Making—A Case Study
Forward-looking companies have long recognized the valuable insight collected from
data and statistical analysis. This presentation showcases how ISN, a global leader
in contractor and supplier information management, has leveraged collected data to
help its clients in the oil & gas, food & beverage, and manufacturing industries improve
their decision-making processes and drive efficiencies in internal operations. While
originally using this data for descriptive analysis, ISN has evolved it into predictive and
prescriptive analytics that assist organizations in optimizing their contractor and supplier
management practices.
Dag Yemenu, Vice President, Technical and Customer Services, ISNetworld,
