P-Cast-On for Round Knitting Looms
and Single Sided Rakes
The P-Cast-on leaves a nice crochet edging. I would recommend it
for any item where you would like to achieve a nice non-loopy edge.
The idea of this cast-on method originated from a Provisional needle
knitted cast-on method. I needed a provisional cast-on for one of my
needle knitted scarves and after finding the easiest one, the light bulb
in my head turned on and I decided to try it out on a loom. Since, it
originated from a provisional cast on, I thought of keeping the P from
the original name.

Instructions
Set up: Form a slip knot with your yarn. Insert crochet hook
through slip knot.

Step 1: Take crochet hook towards the center of the knitting loom.

Step 2: With crochet hook, go in between the first two pegs. Catch
the working yarn and hook it with crochet hook. Pull the yarn through
the slip knot that is on the crochet hook.

Step 3: With crochet hook, move up to the next peg, (between the 2nd
and 3rd peg)

Repeat Steps 2 & 3 down the knitting loom, covering all the pegs.
You will need to stop 1 peg before the last one you want covered.
(For example, if pattern calls for casting-on 10 pegs, stop at peg 9).

Last Step: With yarn coming from the peg before last, place the
chain on the crochet hook, on the last peg that needs to be wrapped.
Once you have placed the loop on the peg, tug on the working yarn
gently to tighten the stitch. Each peg should show 1 loop on the
outside of the knitting loom. Knitting loom is ready!
