The Christian faith and poetry: you must change your life Poetry day led by the Venerable Dr Peter Pike, Archdeacon of Montgomery Christian faith seems to have been bred out of most poetry in English over the last century. Spend the day reading and delighting in a broad range of poems, and discover how these challenge or augment some of the ‘received’ tenets of Christian doctrine, while also deepening faith. Tickets will be available to buy on Sundays in The Refectory following the 10.00am service. Ticket prices are £10 per adult, £5 per child and £25 for a family. The ticket price includes a buffet and there will be a cash bar. This event is to raise funds for the forthcoming choir tour of Ireland. Big Bible Event: Acts Saturday 16 May 2015 Experience the amazing story of the first Christians and find out how it’s still sizzling today Big Bible Event: Acts is for children and their families or church groups. A choice of four megazone workshops will explore key parts of the story using storytelling and drama, art, music, and technology. Each runs four times, so you can join in as many as you want: choose when you arrive. Lots of drop-in minizone activities will also run right through the day with makes, challenges, games, a labyrinth and much more. There is no age limit but activities will be great for children aged 5-11 with lots for the rest of the family to join in too. Road closures 17 May 2015 Chester Half Marathon Northgate Street and St Werbugh Street will be closed between 6.00am and 2.00pm. Exit from Abbey Square onto Princess Street will be available until 9.30am. Limited alternative car parking will be provided by the council. If you would like a car park permit for that morning then please see the Verging Team for more information. Doors and minizones open: 9.30am – 2.00pm. Megazones last 40 mins starting at 10.00, 10.50, 11.45am and 1.15pm. Worship celebration: 2.00 – 2.30pm. Tickets: £3 per child (aged five and over), adults need to book a FREE ticket. Places limited. Envelopes will be available for donations at the 10am and 11.30am services on Sunday 10 May. We need volunteers for the collections outside the West Door and Abbey Square on the weekdays following the Sunday (12 noon - 1.30pm and 4.30 - 6.00pm slots) and on Saturday 16 May (one hour slots from 11.00am - 3.00pm).
