Resource Parent Newsletter March

A monthly publication for our foster & adoptive parents
RESOURCE PARENT NEWSLETTER
March is Brain Awareness Month
This month, Children’s Home of York will celebrate Brain
Awareness Month.
* Did you know that the brain weighs 3 pounds?
* Did you know the brain has over 100 billion nerve cells?
* Did you know the fastest brain message can travel at about 360 miles per hour?
Now that’s FAST…
The brain is a small part of your body but it can do more jobs than the most powerful
computer ever made. Your brain helps you to see and hear, to smell and taste, and to
remember how to count and to recognize the streets on your way home. Your brain is
responsible for keeping you breathing and your heart beating. Your brain even decides if
you will be happy, sad, nice, bad or well behaved. Your brain is working hard all of the
time. Your brain is AMAZING!
To celebrate Brain Awareness Month, we are offering a
Family Fun Event.
A Chilling Brain Saving Event
Date: 3/26/15
Time: 6pm-8pm
Location: CHOY Training Room
Dinner will be provided to all families and
children.
We will have a Fun Family Brain Making Activity along with Fun Brain Games
Foster Parents can earn 2 hours of training for attending this event!
Please see attached flyer for specifics on this event
This program is funded in part by York/Adams Drug & Alcohol Commission and Children’s Home of York

be providing carnival-type games and prizes. If any
affiliate would like to have a game at their table, feel free
to do so, but this is not necessary. We will provide
tickets for any affiliate who brings a game to give away
to participants, which will be used to pick out prizes from
the prize table. Please encourage your families to attend
and to bring their own children as there will be plenty of
games, food and prizes for all. I have attached the
