April 2015 Liberation Foods CIC – Job Description Operations Manager Brief Company supply chain expert with overall responsibility for supply chain and stock, from origin to customer. Key contact for suppliers. Duties 1. Manage relationships with contract manufacturers and warehouses to ensure excellent, cost efficient service provided. 2. Develop and manage purchase forecast to meet Liberation’s annual business planning requirements this includes keeping up to date with the nut market. 3. Carry out all raw material and packaging purchases– place purchase orders according to sales forecast requirements and liaise with suppliers regarding prices, orders and distribution. Agree prices in consultation with Finance Manager and Managing Director. 4. Drive sourcing related project work at origin in conjunction with Twin, Technical Manager and Managing Director. 5. Key role to enable and support NPD projects and process, e.g. sourcing of ingredients, manufacturing and packing service and packaging 6. Ensure monthly updates of sales, stock and purchase forecast – to provide clear and timely updates to Finance Manager for Management Accounts. Carry our purchase forecast update and ensure sales and stock updates carried out by colleagues. 7. Check and approve invoices to enable timely production of Management Accounts 8. Input into new product costings and regular updates of existing product costings 9. ‘Line-manage’, mentor and support Operations Assistant 10. Review and improve systems and procedures related to supply chains to ensure efficient, effective ways of working. 11. Input into FLO and Organic audits & data collection requirements. Skills and Qualifications Essential A degree in logistics/supply chain or similar field Knowledge of supply chain management integrated systems (SAP) Fluent in English and Spanish Knowledge and Experience Essential A passion for Fairtrade and a deeply-held commitment to work on the basis of truly equitable, long term sustainable relationships with developing country small-holder producers At least 3 years experience of working in logistics and supply chain role, preferably within the food industry Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to adapt communication style according to audience Effective time management skills and ability to prioritise Problem solving skills Organisational and planning skills Computer literate Behavioural Essential - a proven ability to: Lead and manage others Perform under pressure Make sound judgements Focus on delivery Develop strong external relationships Use logical persuasion Exercise diplomacy Work as part of a team
