ANTIOCH Recreation Guide UNIFYING AND STRENGTHENING OUR COMMUNITY | SUMMER 2015 o t n i e n o y r e Ev Water! the SUMMER ‘15 +6/&t+6-:t"6(645 Online registration begins April 20th SUMMER 2015 > City News DEAR FRIENDS OF THE CITY OF ANTIOCH, The success of the Antioch community is built upon partnerships between the City, residents, businesses, not-forprofits, and the list goes on. Partnerships come in all shapes and sizes; from sharing meaningful communication to joint funding for new initiatives. The City of Antioch and its many partners have enjoyed many successes in the last year. For example, the Antioch Chamber of Commerce and the City partner with the County and other cities and agencies on local and regional economic development efforts. The Antioch Police Department partners with Neighborhood Watch groups and Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) to enhance service to the community. In fact, VIPS worked more than 10,000 hours in 2014. They responded to calls for abandoned autos, provided house checks for vacationing families, tagged and towed vehicles parked improperly, and supported police officers in schools and parks. These same volunteers are working just as hard in 2015. Summer offers a unique focus on community-building events that are local in scope and spirit. You can contribute to their success! Bring your family and friends to an outdoor concert, festival, or the Antioch Water Park. Experience a new restaurant or try a golf lesson at Lone Tree Golf Course. Enjoy our sunsets with a walk in a park or along a trail; help keep them clean and green. Also, whenever you can, shop Antioch! That helps the City fund recreation, as well as art and cultural events. Make our partnerships stronger for a better Antioch. On behalf of the City Council and all the City Staff, enjoy your summer. Sincerely, Steve Duran City Manager CODE ENFORCEMENT IS A COMMUNITY PARTNER FOR BUILDING CIVIC PRIDE The Antioch Municipal Code authorizes the City to implement a code enforcement program to ensure for the health and safety of all residents, as well as public and private lands. Staff provides education and prevention information, assists with detecting problems, conducts investigations, offers solutions to issues, and uses various tools to help facilitate code compliance. Antioch’s Code Enforcement program regulates more than public health. The staff checks and monitors business activities, building standards, environmental issues, land use, municipal affairs, and assists with consumer protection. This department is a resource for all citizens, and staff works hard to resolve problems as quickly as possible. Formerly known as Neighborhood Improvement Services, Code Enforcement is a partnership with our residents, property and business owners. There are resources and strategies available for anyone who has a concern about their neighborhood and the community. To report an issue residents are encouraged to visit the City website at http://ci.antioch.ca.us/CommentForms/neighborhood.asp You can join the ongoing community efforts to enhance the quality of our neighborhoods and build civic pride. Call the park vandalism hotline (779-6950), join grassroots efforts such as “Keep Antioch Beautiful,” or support other individuals involved in clean-up efforts. Community health is important! City Vision Statement: The City of Antioch is a community that provides an opportunity to live, learn, work, worship, and play in a safe, stimulating and diverse community. 2 | REGISTER ONLINE: activenet.active.com/antiochrecreation Table of Contents < SUMMER 2015 TABLE OF CONTENTS SUMMER ‘15 Recreation Guide EFFECTIVE +6/&t+6-:t"6(645 ONLINE Registration Begins April 20 WALK-IN Registration Begins April 27 Registration Information Form pgs. 44-45 CITY COUNCIL Wade Harper Mayor Lori Ogorchock Mayor Pro Tem .POJDB&8JMTPOt5POZ5JTDBSFOP Mary H.
