Morgan Ediger is Named KBCA Miss Kansas for 2015
Cimarron High School’s Morgan Ediger has been selected as Miss
Kansas, the state’s top award, from the KBCA. Ediger joins Shalee
Lehning (Sublette) and Lorrie Wells (SWH) as the only female
winners of the award from a small school in southwest Kansas. All 3
are from the Hi-Plains League.
Ediger averaged 19.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists helping
the Bluejays to a Class 3A state runner-up finish this season and 2
consecutive state tournament appearances. The Mr. and Miss
Basketball recognition is awarded annually by the Kansas Basketball
Coaches Association. Dean Wade, St. John HS, earned the Mr.
Kansas honor.
The 5’9 guard led the Lady Jays to a 25-1 record this year. Over her
4 years at CHS, her teams finished with an 88-8 record (92%) and
her class has never lost a home game, spanning an impressive 51
games. During her 4 years of high school she was instrumental in the
team winning 4 HPL regular season championships as well as
appearing in 4 consecutive HPL tournament championship games,
winning the last 3. The Lady Jays also won 4 straight Bluejay
Invitational Tournament Championships during that stretch. Making 4
straight sub-state championship game appearances, the Lady Jays
won the last 2 to compete at the 3A state tournament in Hutchinson
the past 2 seasons.
Morgan holds several school records including games played, 3 point
shots made in a game, season and career, career assists, season
and career blocks. She has been a unanimous all-league player 3
years and has been awarded the Player-of-the-Year and All Area
First Team selection by the Garden City Telegram her Junior and
Senior years. She also earned All State 1st Team by the Topeka
Capitol Journal and the Wichita Eagle both her Junior and Senior
years. Last season she was named Class 3A Junior of the Year and
this year she was named as the 3A Player of the Year by Sports in
Kansas. The KBCA also named her to their Class 3A All State First
Team both her Junior and Senior years. She has been invited to play
in 4 all-star games, including the prestigious KBCA All-Star game,
which will be held in Salina on the campus of Kansas Wesleyan on
Saturday, June 27, 2015.
Morgan will be attending Tabor College, Hillsboro, KS on a basketball
scholarship next fall.
