Camp Card Fundraiser
This is a risk free fundraiser that your unit can earn funds to support your unit’s program. Each
Camp Card will sell for $5.00 to the general public and has multiple food, service and entertainment
discounts (pictured above) for the customer to use during the year. The participating unit will keep 50%
commission on each Camp Card they sell. We are excited about the new addition of several vendors and
a new Dick’s Sporting Goods tab. Just the two tabs on the front are worth $15 in discounts for a $5 card.
Units will have opportunities to sell in front of Kroger and Dick’s Sporting Goods during the sale. It’s
not too late to sign up.

Dallas Woods & Waters Foundation
The Woods and Waters Foundation (WWF) is an IRS 501(c)(3) charitable
organization which works closely with the Dallas Woods and Waters Club
(DWWC) to establish mutually compatible charitable goals. Their mission is
to ensure the future of the great outdoors through conservation, preserving
wildlife, restoring habitats, and educating youth in the outdoor disciplines
and the preservation of our natural resources. They also strive to develop
charitable contributions and gifts in order to further our mission and to assist
other charitable organizations with similar goals and objectives.
WWF offers $100 donations for assistance on Eagle Scout Service Projects.
They require a written request describing the project and the board will select
one Scout each month to receive $100 for use on their project. WWF only
asks that the Scout submit an article and pictures of the completed project for
their use in upcoming issues of the DWWC monthly newsletter. Request should be sent to:

Mesquite Rodeo Parade – Saturday, March 28th
City of Mesquite would like to thank you for participating
in last year’s Rodeo parade. This long standing tradition
that brings together civic clubs, churches, community
groups, sports teams, schools and local business would not
be possible without your help.
Parade that will take place on Saturday, March 28, line-up
at 8:30 am, race begins at 10:00 am. Traditional route starts
on Belt Line at Newsom and ends on Galloway Ave. at New
Market.
This year’s theme will be patriotic red, white and blue.
This is our chance to recruit others to Scouting.
1. If your unit is interested in participating this year, sign up
at [email protected] or at March’s Roundtable. Please
come to the March 5th Roundtable to pick up your unit’s
candy and cards to pass out at the Rodeo Parade.
2. You can choose to make a float, decorate a vehicle, make
banners, or pass out recruitment and candy. More details as
the event nears.
3. Boy Scouts Only - Mr. Keheley needs about 10 Scouts
(Boy Scout age only) to walk and carry City banners in the
parade. They will be in uniform, however, they will not be
with the rest of our District, and thus age is important.

a monthly program training that equips you to deliver the
best possible program to the youth in your unit. All leaders
in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturing are encouraged to

in joining Scouting. Talk with their parents about the idea
of joining Scouting. Then invite the family to a meeting or
event.
Any Scout who recruits one new Scout on his own (outside
of School Night for Scouting) will earn the official, Circle
Ten Council BSA “Recruiter Patch”. Recruit a second new
Scout and earn the “Prepared for Life BeAScout “patch.

State-Mandated Face-to-Face Youth Protection Training
If you plan to attend any BSA extended camp in Texas this
year, you must have proof that you have attended the statemandated Face-to-Face (F2F) Youth Protection Training
(YPT). Note: Online BSA Youth Protection Training is
NOT sufficient!
This applies to all extended BSA camps held in the state
of Texas, including any Cub Scout Day Camp, Webelos
Residence Camp, Boy Scout Resident Camp (both summer
FIVE TRAILS continued
and winter), or Venturing Resident Camp. All adults who
plan to be at all or part of these camps must have this
training. (Exception: Parents can get a visitor’s pass to join
their Cub Scouts for lunch on Friday (only), in which case
F2F YPT is not required.)
Note: The requirement for F2F YPT does not apply to
weekend camping or to one-day activities, where the BSA
online Youth Protection Training (YPT) will be sufficient.
Remember that F2F YPT is good for two (2) years. This
means that IF you took the training in the spring of 2012,
your card will expire before this summer’s camping season
and will need to be renewed. Both Circle Ten Council and
Five Trails District have training sessions scheduled.
Circle Ten Council has added a new training session:
• Circle Ten Council’s Bobby Lyle ♦ Billy Gamble
Scouting Center, 5600 US 75, in Fairview, TX, at 7:00
pm on Tuesday, June 3. To register for this course, login
to Circle Ten Council’s CampMaster.
Five Trails District has five training sessions scheduled:
• A training session during the Camporee at Camp
Constantin in April.
• Another training session will be held during the Cub
Scout Roundtable on Monday, May 12, at 7:00 pm, at
Plymouth Park United Methodist Church, 1615 W.
Airport Freeway (a.k.a. TX 183), in Irving, TX.
• Another F2F YPT session will be held at 7:00 pm on
May 15 at First United Methodist Church, Room 306,
420 S. Heartz Road, Coppell 75019.
• Yet another F2F YPT session will be held at 7:00 pm on
May 29th at Irving North Christian Church, 2901 N.
MacArthur Blvd., Irving 75062.
• Finally, Troop 840 will host a training session for Five
Trails District units on Saturday, June 14, at 9:30 am,
at Valley Ranch Baptist Church (VRBC), at 1501 E.
Beltline Road, Coppell.
Watch the Five Trails District website to see if/when/where
more F2F YPT sessions are scheduled.
If you have questions you can contact Clif Chamberlain,
Five Trails YPT Coordinator, via cell phone at 469-2232313. MOUNTAIN LAKE DISTRICT

Face-to-Face Youth Protection Training
Four years ago the Youth Protection Guidelines for Adult
Leaders & Parents (YC06-0014) course or Face-to-Face
Youth Protection Training became required to attend Cub
Scout Day Camp / Twilight Camp, Webelos Resident Camp,
Boy Scout Resident Camp, NYLT or Winter Camp in the
State of Texas. We will be holding Face-to-Face trainings
leading up to Day Camp this year. Please contact Jack
Martin for May/June trainings. (retired2travel4fun@gmail.

Important dates:
Sale Starts – February 21st – May 15th
March 4th – May 15th - Units turn in money (Units keep
commissions and only turn in unsold cards and money due

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation Training
Every pack is required to have at least one BALOO trained
adult to take their unit on an overnight camp out. To
provide flexibility in scheduling, redundancy in case a
leader cannot attend and to be able to share responsibilities,
it is highly recommended that more than one adult leader
per unit receive this training.
Join us on March 21st for training that will give pack
leaders an understanding of the focus of the BSA outdoor
program, the skills to plan and carry out an entry-level
outdoor experience for the pack and knowledge of the
resources available from BSA. Successful completion of this
training will result in an increased level of confidence and
a willingness to plan an age-appropriate pack overnighter.
Please contact Margret Bareis for questions. (b2bareis@

Webelos Woods
A weekend campout for all North District Boy Scouts as
well as 4th and 5th grade Webelos Scouts and adults. This

Many activities for the Scouts and Webelos Scouts are
planned along with events for the adult leaders to partake
in. For more information please visit the North Star district
Web Site starting May 1st. The activity will be held during

Roundtable Info
Are you tired? Are unit leaders losing enthusiasm? Join
us for Roundtable this March for some ideas on how to
prevent burnout and how you can revitalize leaders who are
already suffering! Don’t forget to bring your registration
fees and any changes to registration information for the
camping events happening at the end of the month! See you
at Roundtable!
SOS!!!!
We need your help!!!! We are on the lookout for
commissioner staff! We need unit commissioners who
serve individual units. Ideally, a unit commissioner will
be someone who is familiar with Scouting, has excellent
listening skills, and has a heart for service. We are also
in need of a roundtable commissioner. The roundtable
commissioner is responsible for planning and running
roundtable meetings and recruiting people to present topics
as needed. The ideal candidate would have great planning
skills and be able to commit to being at most roundtable
meetings.
These positions are great ways to have a positive impact on
Scouting in our community! If you know someone who
meets this criteria, please let us know!
Whatcha’ doin???
If your unit is doing something fun and exciting and you
would like to have it included in the newsletter, send it to
