st.
Loosely cast on 80 (90) sts
onto circular needle, place
marker, and join, being
careful not to twist the
stitches.
Rd 1: Purl.
Rd 2: *(Yarn over, knit 3,
slip 1, knit 2 together, pass
slipped stitch over, knit 3, yarn over, knit 1): repeat from * around.
Rd 3: Purl.
Rd 4: *(Knit 1, yarn over, knit 2, slip 1, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over, knit 2, yarn over, knit 1,
purl 1); repeat from * around.
Rd 5: *(K9, p1); repeat from * around.
Rd 6: *(Knit 2, yarn over, knit 1, slip 1, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over, knit 1, yarn over, knit 2,
purl 1); repeat from * around.
Rd 7: *(K9, p1); repeat from * around.
Rd 8: *(Knit 3, yarn over, slip 1, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over, yarn over, knit 3, purl 1); repeat

Change to st st and work in st st (knit every round) until total length is 5 (6)", ending at the marker.
Begin decreasing on the following round as follows, changing to double pointed needles when needed:
