JUDO
Location: Kenilworth Teen Center
Age 6+: Judo is a Martial Art that was developed
in Japan from Jujitsu in the late 19th century.
Judo translates to the “gentle way” and teaches
the principle of flexibility in the application
of technique. This includes the efficient use
of balance, leverage, and movement in the
performance of Judo throws and other skills.
Learn skill, technique, and timing, rather than
the use of brute strength to overcome a stronger
opponent.
All students must register with USJA or USJF. This
is an annual membership required for all students
to compete in tournaments, promotions, and
insurance. Promotions will be based on student’s
commitment and ability and will not be required
to take any “tests” but based on the traditional
method of promotion as practiced in Japan. Judo
Gis are required and can be purchased from the
instructor.
