Knit I-Cord Belt
Using the double-pointed needles, cast on 2 sts. *Knit one row. Without turning work, slide sts across
needle. Pull live yarn tautly across back of work and repeat from * . Continue until the i-cord reaches
desired length, around 15”
Finishing
Weave in all ends. Fold the two back panels onto the center chest so all sections’ wrongsides are
touching. Seam the outer 6 sts of the first back panel to the front strap. The seam will run across the
entire length of the front strap, put not the back panel – 6 bound off sts will remain unseamed. In the
same manner, seam the second panel and strap. Weave in ends.
Pick Up Stitches for Garter Stitch Collar
Using the size 6 needle and cream yarn, pick up and knit 6 sts at the back panel -- along the flap that is
made up of the bound off sts not included in the seam. Pick up and knit five sts from the rows that
make up the front strap. Pick up and knit the 12 sts across the chest front. Pick up and knit five sts from
the rows that make up the next front strap. Finally, pick up and knit the remaining 6 stitches from the
next back panel. Work in garter stitch two rows. Bind off all sts and weave in end.
Thread the belt through the buttonholes along the waist. Add ties on both sides of the garter stitch
edging along the back so the child can tie bows to secure the doll’s dress.
