Minister’s Message
The products produced in Newfoundland
and Labrador’s craft, gift and apparel
industry are as diverse as our people
and the land itself. It is a reflection of
who we are and where we came from.
Newfoundland and Labrador’s talented
and inspiring women and men celebrate
the province’s culture and heritage through
their creativity while contributing socially
and economically to their communities
and regions. From traditional methods to
contemporary mediums, more and more
local artisans are leaving their mark on the
global stage. We share in your passion and
celebrate your successes.
As a government, we want to help create
awareness of that contribution, inspire
youth to careers in the industry, and work
with existing craft producers. We believe
that together we can build a strong and
vibrant industry.
I encourage you to take time to look
through the 2012 Craft, Gift and Apparel
Wholesale Buyers Guide, to learn about
these producers and their products, and
to offer your customers more locally made
craft, gift and apparel that celebrates the
uniqueness of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Honourable Keith Hutchings
Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development
Minister Responsible for the Rural Secretariat
Minister Responsible for the Research & Development Corp.
