Sacred Heart School
Mission Statement
As Children of a loving God, the mission of Sacred
Heart Catholic School is to assist families in educating
and fostering growth of the whole child – spiritually,
intellectually, emotionally, and physically. Together we
will guide our children to live as Christian members of
the world community.

Dear Friends of Sacred Heart School,
I want to thank each of you for being here with us tonight, for our Second Annual “It
Takes a Village” Gala Fundraiser.
We are here tonight to celebrate the students, staff, families, and community that,
together, are Sacred Heart Catholic School. Fifty-two years ago Sacred Heart Parish
and Monsignor Hallissey had a dream of offering Catholic education to the children of
their parish and area. Through hard work, dedication, and prayer, they made that dream
a reality, and for fifty-two years we have been delivering an outstanding Catholic
education to any student who walks through our doors.
Today, it is no different, hard work, dedication, and prayers continue to keep the doors
open, the lights on, and children learning in our classrooms. We have asked for the
support of our “Village” and you have answered the call. Two special donors have
stepped forward and paid for tonight’s dinner so that everything made here tonight is a
profit for our students and school. Their generosity, and yours, is greatly appreciated. It
is this spirit of support and community that draws families to our school and parishes. I,
personally, could not ask to be in a better place.
I want to thank all of the people who have worked so hard to make this evening possible.
There are countless hours of planning and preparation that have been put in and our
students and staff are grateful to all of you. We would like to extend a very special
“Thank You” to Bridget Bedke, the Gala Chairperson. She has done an amazing job of
pointing everyone in the right direction and making sure we were all on the same page.
God bless you all for the support and care you show toward Sacred Heart School. I
hope that you enjoy this very special evening and please, continue to pray for our
students, families, and staff.
In Christ,
Brock Carpenter

“Assisting families in educating and fostering growth of the whole child”
Dear Parents, Teachers, Staff, and Friends of Sacred Heart School:
The theme for this year: “It Takes a Village” describes the relationship between Sacred
Heart Church and School. Our parish contributes over $100,000 a year to Sacred Heart
School because we know our parochial students will be our next generation of adult
parishioners contributing their time, talents, and resources for the good of the parish.
Our school students co-mingle with public school students in the sacraments of
Reconciliation, 1st Eucharist, and Confirmation and in the Children’s Liturgy of the Word
on Sundays. Our youth groups are composed of both Catholic School and Public School
students. We combine all the children of Sacred Heart Parish in Vacation Bible School in
the summer and other events throughout the year. School parents and staff work with
other parish parents in helping the needy through the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Bench
Suppers, Thanksgiving boxes and gift giving at Christmas. Together we serve in various
ministries of the parish including outreach to the sick, administering Eucharist on
Sundays, ushering at Masses, and welcoming new people to our parish and helping at
funeral dinners.
Many of our parishioners who do not have children at Sacred Heart School are willing to
help those who want to be there and are struggling to pay for tuition. At the Last Supper
Jesus sat down with his disciples for dinner. As people with a love for children and their
education, we all sit down together in mutual respect and acceptance for one another.
We are the United Family of the Church of the Sacred Heart.
May God continue to bless our school and parish,
Deacon Mike Eisenbeiss, Parish Life Director

our youngsters grow in knowledge and vision with God. Thanks again for all your help
and support.

Fourth Grade Art Project - Lewis and Clark Quilt
Lewis and Clark traveled on quite an adventure. Our Sacred Heart fourth
graders traveled on an adventure themselves in creating this one of a
kind "history stitchery" quilt. Each student hand stitched a block depicting
a person, place or thing related to the travels of Lewis & Clark. Extra
blocks were completed by numerous members of our own Sacred Heart
village! Under the watchful eye of Tracy Bingham, quilt mom, the
students each took a turn at the sewing machine and helped construct
the quilt top. Jamie Herndon of Quilted Sky machine quilted this piece of
history.

"It Takes a Village..."
"It Takes a Village…" is an amazing quilt that depicts the meaning of our
theme. Gayla Boyce, grandmother of three Sacred Heart students,
together with her sister and aunt, have lovingly labored over this beautiful
piece of art for many months. Not only is our wonderful school, church
and community represented, there are also people from the village and
many words of hope and inspiration. The detail on this quilt is exquisite
from the villagers' clothes to school doors that open. An inscription
written on the reverse side ensures that the history of this quilt's creation
will never be lost. This awesome work of art is a keepsake to be
treasured for a lifetime.
Donor: Gayla Boyce & Family

Fifth Grade Art Project - Framed Mirror
Ms. Joyce's 5th graders haven't forgotten the facts they learned about
Idaho in the 4th grade. With the help of dad, Dennis Dwyer, each
student's original artwork has been wood burned into this wonderful
framed mirror. See Sam Robertson's depiction of our state horse, the
appaloosa. Kristin Dwyer's drawing shows the beautiful Syringa flower.
The frame, created from unique rustic cedar, contains ten different plants
and animals found in the state of Idaho. Can you name the seven that
are listed as a "state" plant or animal? This project would make a great
conversation piece for any home.
