Bacteria Brochure

Continuous Optical Non- Destructive Inspection
Hygiene application
CHALLENGE
Check the safety of food
products and the hygiene of
processing machines
SOLUTION
Use camera systems to
perform in line hygiene
measurements and bacteria
contamination detection.
ADVANTAGES
Avoid the use of time
consuming wet chemical
sampling providing an early
warning signal for possible
safety issues.
CONDI is the next generation of advanced inspection
system for food quality and safety. Contrary to traditional
measurement via sampling and destructive testing, CONDI
offers a non-contact, non-destructive method to
quantitatively evaluate hygiene and bacteria contamination.
This advanced sensor platform combines hyperspectral
imaging with embedded computer and customized
scientific softwares to add intelligence to your handling
system. A first warning signal reports the detection of a
possible safety issue helping in the early detection of
potential adverse affects on the health of consumers.
Preventing harmful consequences for the entire population
is crucial in food processing. Proactive direct observation of
food condition can enable the use of monitoring
techniques to identify and predict safety issues.
Real time process feedback and individual inspection will
raise standards and increase the consumption of fresh and
healthy food

CONDI Food development:
First Warning System for bacteria detection
CONDI Food is developing a new method to identify contaminants in the early stages of
the food production applying cutting edge optical technologies in the food market to build
the First Warning System to detect contaminants.
Left pictures: clean chicken and
fish where no particular features
are highlighted
Right pictures: contaminated samples
(marked with black dots) show white spots
were the bacteria have been placed
CONDI further development:
- Investigate different type of poisoning bacteria for food products (i.e. lysteria,
salmonella, campylobacter)
- Define thresholds: minimum amount of dangerous bacteria detectable with optical non
destructive systems
- Differentiate bacteria contaminations based on their spectral features using
hyperspectral camera systems
Technology is ready and systems are available: in-line, 100% inspection is feasible
and economical and applications are only a few months away.
