NGS Members, Conference Attendees, Speakers, Sponsors, and Exhibitors:
On behalf of the NGS Board of Directors and staff, I want to welcome you to the 2015 Family
History Conference, Crossroads of America in St. Charles, Missouri. Lectures will cover topics
with special emphasis on Missouri and the surrounding states, migration into and out of the
Midwest, methodology, analysis, problem solving, genetics, technology, and military records.
We hope you will find time to visit the nearby St. Louis County Library, which is the home of
the NGS Book Loan Collection.
We were pleased to be able to offer three pre-conference events on Tuesday, the BCG Education
Fund Workshop, Librarians’ Day (sponsored by ProQuest), and German Studies:
Understanding German Records and Methodology (presented by the St. Louis Genealogical
Society, the local host of our conference).
St. Louis is the home of the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC). We are pleased to have
Bryan McGraw, director of the NPRC, speaking during a special evening event on Thursday.
We hope you will be able to take time out of your evening to come hear him speak about the
important work of the NPRC.

PRINT SYLLABUS
If you have not pre-ordered a print copy of the syllabus, limited
quantities may be available for sale at the NGS booth on Saturday
morning. Sales will be on a first come, first served basis. Cost of the print
syllabus at the booth is $30 for members and $35 for non-members.
Shipping
On Saturday, attendees may box, pack, and ship materials via UPS from
the Exhibit area. UPS will be available outside the exhibit area starting at
9:00 a.m. on Saturday.

history since he was fifteen years old. He is an award-winning genealogical
researcher, writer, editor, and educator, and is known for his courses that benefit
researchers of all levels. He teaches at Boston University, major genealogical
institutes and conferences, and local and state seminars. Thomas is the coeditor of the National Genealogical Society Quarterly. His latest work, Mastering

Opening Session—Wednesday, 13 May, 8:00 a.m., W101
Setting the stage for Crossroads of America, J. Mark Lowe will tell us
about The Tales of Pioneer Paths: Rivers, Roads, & Rails. While traveling
by rivers, roads, or rails, our ancestors’ determination pushed them to
relocate to a new place with perceived opportunities. Along the way,
the pioneers struggled with life and death issues, shortage of food
and water, unkindness of the elements, equipment malfunctions and
breakdowns, dangers of highwaymen and marauders, and then finally
they experienced the joy of reaching their destination and new home.
