The mission of COOL is to give comprehensive
assistance to families in need, by reducing hunger
and homelessness, while encouraging personal
growth and self-sufficiency. Serving all of Lake
County.

COOL Food Pantry
COOL was formed as a not-for-profit corporation in
1982; the food pantry opened its doors in January of
1983. Four days of emergency food is provided
monthly, as needed, to people who supply a photo ID.

Midlane Golf Resort
The pantry has two locations. COOL East is located
at 123 W. Water Street, Waukegan and is open five
days a week; Monday 1pm-5pm, Tuesday-Friday
10am-2pm. COOL West is located within Trinity
Lutheran Church, Ingleside, and is open Monday 1pm5pm, and Wednesday 10am-2pm. Both locations are
also open one Saturday each month 11am–1pm.
The Transitional Housing Program has been in
operation since 1988 and is designed for families
(single parents or two-parent households) who have
found themselves homeless without resources. While
in the program, guest families work closely with a case
manager to not only enhance their education and
training, but they also learn to budget, save money,
gain life skills, obtain better employment, receive
counseling and explore personal and spiritual growth.
The program is designed so that guest families will exit
the program able to remain self-sufficient.
