to a brand new season packed full of entertainment at the
Corn Exchange & New Greenham Arts
As the weather turns and the nights draw in, we’re gearing up for our busiest time of year, at the Corn
Exchange. During December, we’ll be welcoming more than 20,000 of you through our doors for the
highlight of the year, our annual pantomime Aladdin! With all the magic, music and mayhem you’ve come
to expect of a Corn Exchange panto, make sure to book your tickets soon as they are flying out the door.
As we greet the New Year, we have plenty of shows to help you beat those January blues. Whether it’s a
night out with friends at our monthly Jongleurs comedy club, gripping and compulsive drama Grounded,
an evening of conversation with the legendary Dame Joan Plowright, BBC folk awards singer of the year
Bella Hardy, the ever effervescent Fascinating Aida, a sensational shock night with Britain’s Got Talent
finalists Circus of Horrors or an extraordinary collaboration between 2Faced Dance and Frantic Assembly,
Dreaming in Code. There’s guaranteed to be something in our live season that will help lift your spirits!
And I am delighted to be able to announce that the Corn Exchange will become one of Arts Council
England’s National Portfolio Organisations from April 2015. It really is fantastic to have the quality of the
work we do recognised in this way, and it’s a huge accolade for the entire Corn Exchange team who have
helped to achieve this success. Over the next three years, this funding will be focused on expanding our
Get Involved activities, developing our outdoor performance programme (events like our annual community
lantern procession on Sunday 14th December) and launching 101 - a unique outdoor arts creation space
based at Greenham Common.

Maz O'Connor is a gifted singer with
a rare talent for fusing traditional and
contemporary folk sounds. Performing a
mixture of traditional folk songs and her
own thoughtful, poetic compositions, Maz
accompanies her uniquely pure voice with
guitar, piano, shruti box and harmonium.
Sir Mick Jagger actually referred to them
as "the most famous Stones band in
England". Any band that can boast 24
years of solid and successful touring
deserves such an accolade.
Each show takes you on a hilarious trip
through 5 decades of outrageous fashion

Steve Parrish raced at the highest level of motorcycle
racing, with his highest finish coming in the 1977 500cc
Grand Prix season, as team mate to that year’s champion
Barry Sheene. Steve then dabbled with sports car racing
before moving to truck racing “because it was less painful
than riding bikes” where he won 5 European Truck Racing
titles, but he is equally famous in the world of motorsport
for his pranks, and the real reason for this show.

Monster Ceilidh Band are on a crusade to bring a
powerfully modern and un-patronising approach to ceilidh
fusion music. Their experimentation with electronic beats
has its roots in the traditional but has produced something
innovative, contemporary and dynamic. They combine
explosive and fiery folk with, funky riffs and live drums.
The Band’s music embraces the old dance traditions,
while translating them into blood-quickening crescendos
for the twenty-first century nightclub audience. 2014
excitingly saw their 2nd studio album ‘Charge’ released on
the bands own label and promoted through a tour in the
Autumn, along with festival appearances.

Dame Joan Plowright is the widow of Lord
Laurence Olivier but also a formidable actor
in her own right. A Golden Globe; Tony
winner & Oscar nominee, she became a
household name in the mid 1950’s. In 1961
she married Olivier and became closely
associated with his work at the National
Theatre. Their marriage lasted until Lord
Olivier’s death in 1989. Already a CBE, she
became a Dame Commander (DBE) in
2004.
Her distinguished career lasted more than
six decades. She announced her retirement
from acting in May 2014.

The witch and her cat are flying happily along on their broomstick when a stormy wind
blows the witch’s hat, bow and wand away into the night. A helpful dog, bird and frog find

HD DVD, a solo show from artist Jethro German, is the culmination of a 21-month
graduate residency programme at New Greenham Arts.
Jethro German’s work takes inspiration from a wide variety of sources, including televised
sport, film tropes and news stories. In isolating particular aspects of these forms, German
seeks to deconstruct and parody the framework by which we consume and process
information, exposing the absurdities that pervade popular culture and the mass media.
German regularly uses found imagery in his art, working with a wide variety of media
including video, sculpture and print.

The Corn Exchange and New Greenham Arts offers a programme of
accessible events and performances for people with a wide range of
disabilities and sensory impairments as well as those on the
autistic spectrum.
We provide relaxed performances on stage and in the cinema, where
the sound level is reduced, lights are left on and it is acceptable for
people to move about and make noise. For our Pantomime, we also
hold pre-performance acclimatisation sessions and provide a ‘quiet’
break out area during the performance.

All live events and live broadcasts (including encores) will be subject to a booking fee when booked
online or on the telephone. For films this will be 50p per ticket, for live events and live broadcasts
(including encores) this will be 85p per ticket. This fee is capped at £6 in any one telephone
transaction. Bookings made in person at the Box Office will be processed free of charge. Friends
and Patrons are exempt from a Ticket Booking Fee when booked over the telephone. No fees are
payable for any of our Get Involved programme.
