CRAVEN DUNNILL
JACKFIELD LIMITED
handmade wall & floor tiles
As a world heritage site
The Ironbridge Gorge
is famous as the birthplace of
the Industrial Revolution.
Few people are aware that
just a mile downstream
is the small village
of Jackfield, which in the
late 1800’s was the centre of
Britain’s ceramic tile industry.

Craven Dunnill’s original
factory is not only our
home today, but also houses
the Jackfield Tile Museum,
the most complete Victorian
Tile factory in England.
2001 saw the start of an
extensive multi-million pound
restoration program to the
site.
Being situated within the Museum allows us exclusive access to its vast archive.
This provides us with the ideal inspiration for a heritage tile range, as well as a
bespoke design service for the client wishing to create their own piece of decorative art.
Individual hand making allows for an infinite variety of design ideas. Using the
traditional technique of tubelining, together with our large palette of oxide based
colours, all sorts of images can be created.
We offer a colour matching service, in both wall and floor tiles, for those customers
wishing to restore an original feature. All tiles are hand made to order allowing fora
tailor made service to each and everyone of our customers.
We pride ourselves in the faithful manufacture of period style tiles and
where possible we employ original machinery, glaze recipes and
hand decoration; because of this our tiles retain all the qualities
of those from the 19th Century.
Victorian
Inspired by the spread of
the British Empire, many
Victorian designers were
influenced by faraway
lands, classical and
medieval architecture,
while others studied
nature. The one element
that unified all of these
styles was the use of rich
deep colours, with a
luxurious and sumptuous
feel.
Our range of embossed
and screen printed
decors perfectly
illustrate the heyday of
this industry.

characterised by
delicate and graceful

Deco
An era greatly inspired
by the archaeological
finds in Egypt during
the 1920’s which
saw a dramatic new
approach to interior
design. Clean straight
lines and angular
shapes are echoed in
our screen printed
designs in combination
with strong, high gloss
colours.
