Briefing Session on the First Progress Report of
the Committee on Professional Development of Teachers and Principals
You are cordially invited to join the Briefing Session on the First Progress
Report of the Committee on Professional Development of Teachers and Principals
(COTAP) to be held on 25 June 2015.
As you may be aware, COTAP has been set up since 1 June 2013, reconstituted
from the former Advisory Committee on Teacher Education and Qualifications, and vested
with an expanded purview on the professional development of the teaching profession
spanning across the continuum of its various career stages, covering student, novice and
experienced teachers, as well as aspiring, newly-appointed and accomplished school
leaders.
COTAP will tender advice to the Government on the policies and strategies
pertaining to the professional development of the teaching profession.
Where
appropriate, it will commission research and evaluation studies so as to support evidencedbased policy formulation. It will also provide a platform for facilitating networking,
sharing, interactive exchange and collaboration within the teaching profession.

is very grateful to the stakeholders for their support and candid sharing of valuable
insights. These contributions have enabled COTAP to build and shape shared vision and
objectives in fostering a vibrant and robust teaching profession of excellence in Hong
Kong, map out strategies and prioritise its work plan. COTAP has published its very
