As you may be aware, COTAP has been set up since 1 June 2013, reconstituted from the former Advisory Committee on Teacher Education and Qualifications, and vested with an expanded purview on the professional development of the teaching profession spanning across the continuum of its various career stages, covering student, novice and experienced teachers, as well as aspiring, newly-appointed and accomplished school leaders. COTAP will tender advice to the Government on the policies and strategies pertaining to the professional development of the teaching profession. Where appropriate, it will commission research and evaluation studies so as to support evidencedbased policy formulation.
