SUMMER CAMPS
2015
CPF British Columbia & Yukon
BC Family French Camp (BCFFC)
Canoe Island French Camp
The first BC Family French Camp was organized in 1983
and today 800 children participate in these week-long
camps throughout the summer. This is a camp suited
to the whole family, whether or not the parents speak
French. Bring your own tent and take part in the organized activities, including sing-along campfires. Camps
are held in three locations around the province. Suitable
for children from pre-kindergarten to teen, the camp also
offers a counsellor-in-training program. Please visit
www.bcffc.com for more information about each camp.
Located in the San Juan Islands, just over the US border
from Vancouver, BC, Canoe Island offers a traditional
summer camp experience for youth. The day begins
with French language classes for beginners to advanced
levels. Campers stay in modernized tipis, eat French
food and participate in activities of their choosing,
under the direction of French-speaking counsellors
from around the world. In addition, Canoe Island
offers family camp weekends in the Spring and Fall.

that the value of learning a language goes well beyond
the school walls. We ensure the development of a rich

Canadian Parents for French – Newfoundland
and Labrador Summer Language Camp
The Summer Language Camp will run from Saturday,
June 27 to Wednesday, July 1. Students will fly from
St. John’s International Airport or take a ferry to St. Pierre
from Fortune, Newfoundland. Travel will be organized
through the CPFNL office. Students attending the camp
will stay with host families where they will be encouraged
to speak French at all times. Staying with a family gives
them the opportunity to learn even more about the
culture of St. Pierre as they try different foods, different
ways of life and even different family dynamics than
many Canadian families. During the days students will
take part in multiple cultural activities. Some activities
will be in a classroom setting where the instructor will
use interactive methods and dynamic actions to keep
the students interested and aid in comprehension. The
students will be encouraged by chaperones and instructors to speak French as much as possible during the
activities. To complement the classroom portion, the
Francoforum organizes many outdoor excursions and
activities for the students. Traditional sports, baking
methods and customs are brought to life before the
eyes of the students.
