The camp is organized for students enrolled in French and presently attending Tamarac Education Centre in Grades 3-8. Students will fly from St. John’s International Airport or take a ferry to St. Pierre from Fortune, Newfoundland. Travel will be organized through the CPFNL office. Students attending the camp will stay with host families where they will be encouraged to speak French at all times. Staying with a family gives them the opportunity to learn even more about the culture of St. Pierre as they try different foods, different ways of life and even different family dynamics than many Canadian families. During the days students will take part in multiple cultural activities. Some activities will be in a classroom setting where the instructor will use interactive methods and dynamic actions to keep the students interested and aid in comprehension. The students will be encouraged by chaperones and instructors to speak French as much as possible during the activities.
